How is this a portfolio if it only shows images from posts? I don't want to create posts and add images there, I want a good portfolio to display my work.
I wanted to use this Portfolio feature to display a galley of my original artwork, click on the thumbnail and a larger version of the image would appear along with some info about it. That's how I am used to seeing Portfolio's on websites....this "Portfolio" feature you have is actually only a display of actual posts to your website and not for lack of a better term "an advanced image gallery" at all?
great widget, but where is the "filter by category" option? Did you remove it from the widget? how do I use this widget to display POSTS FROM A PARTICULAR CATEGORY ONLY?
Thank you for this video, very helpful. I would like to know if it is possible to have the title directly under the image all the time? This way you do not have to roll over the image to have the detail.
So at 3:30 it says you can sort the Query by Date, Title, Menu Order, Random. Three of those are obvious, but the tutorial never explains what "Menu Order" means. What menu? Where? I would like certain posts (pages in my case) to stay towards the top of the portfolio. Too often these tutorials simply list the options shown without actually explaining what they mean.
the portfolio is great for products filtering but is there a way to add the price with little in the portfolio overlay or even under the image
hi there, i have a problem with this widget. I just have a photos and videos that i don't want to add any description and open my footages in new window. is there any way to open my portfolio in light box?
I love the plugin..... but since I'm complete beginner, I wish there would be more examples of each options shown and not just read since I can read them myself - I'm visual person and I like the actual presentation. Thank you :)
Someone knows if it is possible to show a "show more" or "next page" button? I would like to show just 6 entries and give to the visitor the possibility to swipe to the next page, to show 6 more. Thanks

When I drag the Portfolio widget onto the webpage the Edit Portfolio sidebar shows up on the left like the video, but there are no images or visible columns to manipulate like there are in your video of the fruit and the flowers. All I get is a thin blue line. I don't get the three images or anything like them that are in the video. What am I doing wrong?
Create a Post page and upload a Featured image to the Post.

I think I understand the styling options of this widget, but I can't figure out how to populate the portfolio with images (it seems like a lot of other's are having this problem/confusion too). I'm building a new site with the portfolio as the main content. I don't have any "posts" with feature images to populate the portfolio with. Can I just populate the portfolio from my media library? There is a "manual selection" setting under query>source, but then what? What do I query for? Where? How?
OK, I think I answered my question: On the Elementor site (where the article for this widget lives, and the source of this video) it says "Note: The Portfolio widget ONLY works with posts, pages, and custom post types. The Portfolio widget does NOT work with Galleries." That seems really strange to me. Isn't that what most people want a portfolio for? To create a way to organize, show, and feature a bunch of images...a gallery. I'm really disappointed.

the images from my posts don't show up! I click and I get redirected to the post which is fine, but in portfolio they are just grey boxes that show the title when I hover over. whyyyyyy

This is way out of date. The query section looks nothing like this. There is no option to display by category or tags. The new version is actually HARDER to use. Sorta baffles the mind. Why would you remove the ability to have gallerys based on categories. That is sorta the whole point. :(

"Full control over the layout"? You can just display the title of the post and can just create a color overlay as hover effect. Even free plugins do it better. Don't understand why a powerful tool like elementor does not have more options for such an important widget.

Is there a way to always see every post instead of entering the amount of posts you want to display?
Hi, I currently use elementor PRO. I need to use thumbnails on my portfolio section and when the user clicks any thumbnail I'd like they could see other images inside this "proyect". As an example, the images in my portfolio will be clients logos, and when you click on any of them, you'll be able to see images of the particular proyect. How can I achieve that? Thanks!

There is no way to do that
Usually, to open any link in *new window: target="_blank" attribute to your links (anchor tags). However, Noah from Elementor knows her product and as she says for that you probably can't?

Nice tutorial! I met a problem when I tried to display my hotel and restaurant listings in my directory site. The posts widget of elementor pro, only shows me the restaurant listings and not the hotel ones that I have also created in my business listing site.
So I tried with portfolio widget you shared in this video and go to the Query section->Source: Listings | Include by Term: Listing categories and from there I chose: "Hotels" and that just solved my problem of showing! [Because this term is items in a taxonomy I created].

This is probably a dumb question but I've seen it done on one other builder (but poorly) so I figured I would ask. I realize it will need to be in an update but is there anyway to make it possible to show the "excerpt" instead of the title on hover. Either way this looks great and I'm probably going to purchase it soon but that would definitely convince me.

Can I make video portfolio grid with it with static text overlay over it?
Grid showcase videos and to not make extra rows with text , (half transparent) text or picture overlay on top video show short title and brief description.. Same could go with audio files and grid of square soundcloud players. Not all people are photographers, so just photo grid is not enough to call it portfolio widget.. it's more gallery than portfolio. Would be nice to consider the fact that various people need to make portfolio not only photographers.

You can use a plugin like wordpress.org/plugins/simple-page-ordering/ to sort it manually, then use the Sort > Menu Order to get the same manual sorting
It's so frustrating that you cannot fix so that every individual image can link to an URL.

What do you mean only the photos? The portfolio can be used to showcase any post type, and the image is the featured image of the post type

I mean, with images but linked each of them to a video on light box...
Please add this function!! Highly recommended! It would be great to be able to link to the post with one overlay icon and to open the video in a lightbox directly with another overlay icon. So visitors don`t have to go to the post site if they are not interested in additional information and just can watch the video directly from the portfolio site. Please make it possible! At least with the Post Widget! Thanks :))

2016 and it's not been renewed. Elementor is great, and at the same time it's a total disappointment when you actually use it or try to find info for it. But, hey, you've got all those great people creating the content you don't care to create because you're barely making any profit, right? :o(

This is a terrible tutorial! And worse this Elementor widget is so dated....!!!!! Elementor really needs to step up and make a better widget that's simple, easier to use, sophisticated and with better features.
