    No sign of my number one fav game for the lynx, which was the The Shadow of the beast👌

    I have the Lynx carts and i highly recommend those 2 to everyone, tons of variety and quality, plus those games almost never get rereleased.
    The Arcade cart it a nightmare almost all the games are trackball or spinner, i cant believe they let that happen. It never should have been made.

    I was thinking of getting Atari Collection 1. Just for FOOD FIGHT. Never played it. But it seems to play great, with lots of fun to be had! Is a single game on a collection worth the reason for buying it though Crazy Burger?! 🤔

    This hits so hard. I am above all else an Atari fan, but I have put off buying the Atari Arcade collection since its introduction because I've held out for a trackball solution. I finally pulled the trigger on it via Songbird when I ordered the Sunsoft & Delphine collections. It's on backorder, and they don't ship orders if anything is on backorder unless you specify otherwise.Of course I didn't. (Insert sad face emoji here).
    I just emailed them to see if I could partial-cancel my order. I need Flashback in my life. Lol

    Atari 2 and Lynx 1 are a couple of the best carts on the system in my opinion, Atari 1 was the pack-in cart so you'd be dumb not to hang onto it, and Lynx 2 and Atari Arcade didn't look that great to me but each have 2 or 3 good games on them so I'll pick them up before they go out-of-print at the end of the year...

    Great Atari 2600 fan here. The biggest complain for me comes from the fact that Atari (or Blaze) has never released a paddle for playing Atari Arcade 1, plus the disappointment of an Atari Arcade 2 that will never come out....

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh totally agree. Without the paddle or tracker, a few of these games are useless. Like pong, super breakout. Such a Shame. I love breakout on the 2600 with paddles. Though they did eventually break through time.

    Unless you are going for a full set the only ones that are truly worth getting out of the five are the two Atari lynx carts. Mostly due to the games and handheld being more obscure than the 2600. 7800 and arcade ports.

  • @benstylus
    @benstylus ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Arcade cart was one of the bigger disappointments to me just because so many of those games originally relied on a trackball, spinner, etc. I've played the Worms Collection more, if that tells you anything.
    For the 2600/7800 carts there are definitely a lot of good games in there, but if you have any modern console there are other ways to play just about all of them. It will always hold a fond place in my heart for including Ninja Golf though.
    The Lynx collections certainly offer the most in terms of stuff you can't really get elsewhere, but I found that most of the games tended to focus on the graphics at the expense of gameplay. Comparing lynx games to similar games in my game boy library, and the ones I have on GB often play better even if they don't look as good.
    So, TLDR version they are middle of the pack carts at best.

    I wonder how much I can trust Blaze these days. I own the entire collection of carts, a VS, and the EXP. That said when the first round of legacy carts happened I figured well some piko 1 games sold to other companies and namco/ technos may got to big for evercade. Losing Atari is crazy because they loan games to everyone. You can play atari 2600 games on a potato lol. This makes me think that blaze is not trying to renew these agreements. At some point all carts will be legacy and if a cart starts acting up you are not getting a replacement cart. I do not think I am buying evercade games going forward. Makes me sad because I really liked what they were doing, but now, I am not comfortable with the future of carts I buy. Also I do not like the HMT super pocket approach blaze is pushing.

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's highly likely most of the carts could go legacy at some point..

    • @MrVargatron
      @MrVargatron 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It became legacy 3 years after release, if your cart fails after that I'd say you are way past any warranty. I don't expect a refund for anything if it breaks after such a long time unless it's high grade electronics. Also I like they clearly stated the reason why this is happening and they are still trying to get (atari) carts for the future.

    I don't even need to watch the video and I can answer. But before, know I was born in 1976. So yes, the Atari 2600 is part of my childhood. That said, like anything, videogames are evolving and even if retrogaming is only getting stronger, what most people are missing is that it is a moving window, like any other hobby... The brand is still strong, you can talk about games, compilation, cartridges, etc. But this tells only the story of what is happening now, not what is coming... In my state, retro game stores are starting to refuse Atari 2600 games, they are starting to sell their stock and make room for other systems. Winter is coming for Atari. Nostalgia is a moving window. it is driven by people who are now adults, and have kids... But eventually even this cycle ends... Even the NES will end up in that category, and the window will keep rolling. And let's not even talk about the games and the lack of fun... So a big NO, unless it is for you, and for now!

  • @billcook4768
    @billcook4768 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The problem with the first three: The games aren’t that great and mostly rely on the nostalgia factor. But those of us with the nostalgia probably own the games at least once as they have been released over and over again. The Lynx cartridges are much better to collect, IMO.

    • @JohnnyProctor9
      @JohnnyProctor9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd disagree, many of the titles on Atari 2 are the best on any of their systems...Lynx 2 and Atari Arcade looked pretty "meh" to me, but I'll still pick them up before they go out-of-print at the end of the year. As for Atari 1 I could take it or leave it, but since it was the pack-in cart I'll keep it...

    I think that Atari games now suffer badly from overkill, they have all been released so many times on so many different formats. If they have a future they need to concentrate on the recharged series and homebrew games.
    They need to be making new retro style games and stop flogging the same old dated games.

    I currently have 27 carts but none of the Atari ones. Just have zero nostalgia for it. As a kid I had a NES and my mate had Atari. I just remember playing at his and thinking WTF is this shit? Even when the Lynx and Jaguar came out, my mind instantly associated Atari as 'just old stuff'. Weird

    • @CrazyBurger
      @CrazyBurger  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @chfgn
      @chfgn ปีที่แล้ว

      I distinctly remember growing up in the late 80s you were about equally likely to find an NES or an Atari 2600 in any random household. The difference between the two was staggering, you might as well have been comparing PS5 games to Tiger Electronic handhelds; they weren't in the same league in any way.
      That said, a video game was a video game so I still played those Ataris every chance I got. I do have *some* nostalgia for it as a result, but even when I was playing them they were extremely outdated so I can't really look at them as "real" games as much as mildly interesting novelties. I don't think I'll be picking these up.
