an amator at my chess club uses to play this a lot, for me it was quite tricky to play against, because i switched to the ruy in recent times. This was a fantastic walkthrough to the opening, hopefully i will give him some punch on the chessboard.
BTW, IM Ostrovskiy does a fantastic job at explaining the IDEAS without getting bogged in a million moves that make no sense for the beginning or intermediate player. We don't need lines: we need ideas.
I literally spent over 2 hours painstakingly running scenario after scenario after each move of any piece, either side. I was able to come up with some unique stuff and some things I missed - but it was a great learning experience. I was too spent for the second half of the vid and just let it play through, not pausing every move as I did before.... haah (glutton for punishment)
14:02 I have a doubt, if blacks light square bishop is eliminated then his light squares are vulnerable , our own light Square bishop is also eliminated then why isn't our light squares aren't a big threat???
If you mean playing Bc2, Yes, you can, but you give away all the iniciative, and let the black activate the queen side knight. Sacrificing the rook it's a more active way of playing maintaining the positional advantage.
Love that you guys use a real board. Great content
Great. What do you think about our new wooden chess board?
@@Chessfactor Very nice. Much more professional and looks great on camera. Good stuff!
Perfect. We will stick to it!
I am thankful to you. Contents are very rich and your wonderful explanations help to understand complicated position.
Perfect coverage of this opening!
Wow more than I expected
More than the opening, this video taught me so much about pawn structures
Glad to hear that!

Great content - I am learning how to play with the Ruy Lopez and I really like the variations you show. Rich with ideas!
We are happy to hear that. Let us know how it paid off in your games.
Thanks!!!!!
Thanks for the initiative!
Welcome!
6:43 "he or she". Thank you. I bristle when I hear everyone just say "he" for the players. Women play too.

cancel out because both of u have ur piece that dominates the light square gone.
@@tonpariston5093 oh I see, thanks for taking time out to reply though 👍.
At 10:18 , can't white just trade bishop for bishop instead of giving away the rook?

It would be better to show board from black's perspective
