Lived there 1983-1994 Raised our kids there. Learned to hunt, fish, garden, can, barter, got up at 3 am to watch N lights. All in Plains/Paradise. Best yrs of our lives. Our kids are now big city dwellers. But the memories stay alive in all of us.
Born and raised nothing beats Montana.!!!and as I had the joy of meeting Mr Harvey at the Alpine bar a few,,, years a go . It was nice to hear him once again.
I've been to a lot of states in this great nation, I have to say that Montana is the prettiest place I have ever seen. proud to say that it's my new home.
I grew up in west riverside, outside of missoula and he came to Bonner School back in the 80's and a few of us were picked to be back up singers on this song. We went to Helena and sang at the capital. That was an experience I'll cherish forever and that was actually the first version of this song! Thank you Mr. Harvey!!!
"Montana Melody" (Montana State Ballad) -- pasting lyrics here for convenience. I long to be in the places that I see in the pictures of my dreams Where there's mountains full of trees, meadows carpeted in green Silent, snow-fall, clear running streams. Where the bear-grass blooms In the spring-time of the year, And the larch turn gold in the Fall Where there's deer, elk and antelope Beaver, bears and birds and the yippin' coyotes serenade them all. (CHORUS) Yes, there's no place like Montana, the Big Sky country, my home. A place to set my spirit free, a Rocky Mountain melody, These things are a part of me, Montana, Montana, my home. Charlie Russell clouds paint sunsets in the West, in colors of red, blue and gold. Snow-capped peaks reach endless to the sky, and the grain-fields with gentle breezes flow. There's high mountain lakes, Missouri river breaks and the open plains, where the buffalo used to roam. It's a cowboy song, it's where Indians belong God's country, my home sweet home. I had a dream, of how Heaven's s'posed to be, and when I die, that's where I want to go. Cause there's mountains full of trees, meadows carpeted in green, silent snowfall, clear running streams.
