I filled out my DS160 completely and on the last step (thank you page) wanted to start family application for my spouse, however when I did that and filled the first page for my spouse the website logged me out and I was not able to retrieve the application, could you please share how do I go back to to the page where I can start the family application.

You have to assume, that you are in India already while filling DS-160 and hence fill the details, Keeping that in mind. Lets answer your question
1. Yes, the date you are planning to return. Need not be accurate can be approximate.
2. If you are the primary , Yes Self. Unless your company is sponsoring the trip
3. Yes, that would be the best answer. ( Giving the remaining period from your petition or less )

I was on F1, graduated in May 2022 and recently changed my status to H1B (got my approval letter). I have been working at my current job from July 2022 (was on OPT for one year). I wanted to fill ds160 to go back to India for stamping.
I have some questions and I would appreciate it so much if someone could help me answer them/confirm my answers.
1) What should I answer for intended date of arrival question since Im already in the US? I haven’t made any plans of travel as that would totally depend on my appointment date.
2) My H1B validity deadline is 4/2026 (as mentioned on the approval letter) so should I just put it as 2 years for intended length of stay in the US?
3) There’s a question that says “Have you resided in any country for six months or longer since you attained 16 years of age?” Would that be yes since I’ve been in the U.S. for the last few years?
4) What is E-visa company registration number? Will that be “does not apply”?
5) “Has anyone filed an immigration petition on your behalf?” Is this question only for GC and not applicable in my case?
6) Address where you will stay in the US will just be my US residence address?
7) You mentioned in the video that they are not asking for photo but on redditt people have mentioned that they have uploaded photo (digital photo requirements are also there). Is it only for certain scenarios and no need in my case?

Even for those who only got the H1B visa approved for the first time and haven't got it stamped on the passport yet, not just for extensions - shouldn't they also say "yes" here?
My second question relates to the question "Has anyone filed an immigration petition on your behalf?" I think his too should be "yes" for those whose attorneys have proceeded to file the immigration petition (green card application) after their PERM LC has been approved.

I am trying to fill DS 160 form . I am currently on H1-b and have been with the same employer for past 7 years . I have put all the details of my present employer in the present employer section. Then for the previous employer it asks the information for all the previous employers in the last 5 years. I do have previous employers but they were 7 years back.

For clarity, I stayed in different state where petition is filed and moved to another state post the filing and approval. So the old address is there on the petition. So which address should I put for the question? Old one that is in the petition or the new one where I’m currently staying?
Hi Sanjana, Do you have the new address documented anywhere in your records ? If not use the address from your petition. As long as you give some valid address ( The place where you gonna stay , if you know it ) also should work.

These are minimun requirements. If you are able to give your full infomration that would avoid any confustions or delays.
For L1 & L2 , Do we need to submit DS 160 for all family members each separately or one primary applicant submitting is enough, planning to visit India with family, my visa stamp is expired, we should have stamping.
If you need stamping for every family member. Then yes each need their own ds-160

I have one concern, If I have filled DS-160 form for H1/H4 Visa and booked the visa appointment and later I want to change some details in DS-160 form, can I go head and create a new form with update details? This will not create any issue with Visa processing as my appointment confirmation letter will be having old DS-160 barcode and number and appointment letter gets checked on both bio-metric and interview day and If I can go ahead then do I need to change the DS-160 no. in my USdoctravel website profile but then it only shows for H1 not for H4.

Yes I have, I use to fill schooling information during my initial days. After a while once you gain enough experience at your work. Your Schooling education details will become less relevant. but doesn't hurt to add it thought.

No, you don't have to. Those are just arbitrary dates

Unfortunately there is no option to modify your existing appointment details. you have to cancel and get another appointment by modifying your information in the system.

What address should we mention here if we are working remotely in a different state than that of the employer? If in I-129 both addresses are mentioned. The primary address is that of employer but also has the home address. Thanks
Thanks for this question, I didnt cover the situation of WFH. Though many companies are still full remote, where the labor certification is done with the home address. So you can give either of the address, you will not get into any trouble. As long as you are giving address from any of the approved documents. Make sure you carry that document, while going for drop box. They will not take your I-129 but have it handy just in case, you are requested for additional documentation.

To answer your last question, The old applications might get archived regularly, so i recommend you to update something or the other in the DS-160 to keep it active. Hope this helps

Yes, you could do that. But the ds-160 application needs to be kept active till the time after you go for stamping

1. They really dont, but dont add any information that is not true.
2. Employment verification document, A letter from your current employer stating that you are working for them on the company letter head.
3. Your US employer is your future employer, they might ask about where you are going to work and what kind of job you going to do. If you have the job description, talk about it.
If asked about the current employer, tell them what you do now.
4. Yes, you need to take the new born. Taking a new born will get to you to the front of the line and the questions should be relatively simple, easy and fast.

But it was rejected at that due to that I don't have strong ties with my origin country it was my old passport... now I have my new passport...Can I apply for H4 visa now with my wife H1B application? Mention your job and employer.
Any job is a good job, uscis is not going g to discriminate. However, if you feel the job you have done is off the records and you don't need that to show as an experience for which you have got the h1b. You can simply ignore that and say "home maker" or "free Lancer "

It wouldn't harm, even if you add all your employers beyond 5 years. Even if you worked before CTS. More the better 🙂

For each dependent you should fill one DS 160 and in the drop down you have to select H4
The answer of smdc's actually correct. You need two separate ds-160. basically it's an undertaking of your personal information irrespective of what status or what type of Visa that you're coming into US. Ds-160 is separate for each and every individual who is entering into United States

If you are filling for your dependant and choose the visa type as h4 / l2 in the beginning of the application, i dont think you will even get this section. But let me know otherwise.

Form I797C and Approval notice both are different. I have I797C submission form can I use same number while filling DS160. Or do I need to wait for approval notice ?
Hi Sayila, I guess the receipt number and the number in your I-797c are the same. Then you can use it, if not use the receipt number that you use for tracking your case in the USCIS website.

You can always go ahead and fill your form ds-160 but I would recommend you to wait for the new passport to come in and then complete the ds-160 with the new passport detail.

Am assuming, you are getting your visa for h1b.
You should always assume while filling DS160, so your correspondence address should be India.
You are free to select any consulate. Irrespective of where you live in India.
If your husband has applied for your greencard. You should report that and give yes to that question
