Oh man, how I love the snarl of that Telecaster.

      "Snarl" is a great descriptor.

Greg. I think Gods gift to country music is the Telecaster.

Such an awesome collection of talent on this stage. I love the Fabulous Superlatives, so talented yet willing to stand in the back, if needed

Marty Stuart and the Superlatives with Connie Smith - If I went all the way to Nashville and they were the only act in town, I'd be happy!

Everyone knows Marty played in Lester Flatt’s band for six years, starting at 13, right? And then in Johnny Cash’s band for five? His singing style sounds a lot like Johnny Cash, in a higher range, to me. Harry Stinson’s Jerry Allison paradiddle drives this 3/4 country ballad straight into rock’n’roll, the real deal, pure rhythm, the playing is stripped to the bone with perfect time and rhythmic nuance, and they’re just so relaxed. Marty’s first pro gig, at 12, was in a gospel bluegrass band; I think he knows and means exactly what he’s saying. I can’t believe how exciting this music is. (And speaking of Lester Flatt, that’s Earl Scruggs’s grandson on bass.)

Not much like the Byrds version, however.

Donald Thieme That’s true. On the other hand, the Byrds’ version wasn’t from Sweetheart of The Rodeo, and this wasn’t a Byrds concert. This was one of the Superlatives’ turns to step forward at this show, and they played Marty’s own version, which he recorded years ago and has been in his band’s regular repertoire ever since. (Ditto for Runnin’ Down A Dream in the Petty encore set, though that arrangement is pretty faithful, just a bluegrass version on mandolin etc.) Thanks.

We can dream on, but imagine if Crosby provided his harmonies here. Arguably still in good form.

No disrespect to these guys but this is a play by numbers, zero impact singalong version of a truly wonderful song ,,the meaning of the lyrics is totally lost here ,,what a shame
