I am not sure I understand the question. You have to use the product/service object any time you want to issue a SALES RECEIPT (that is the name of the form and does not change because you are an NP) to a donor. It is a function of the sales receipt form. I am not sure if this answers your question.

Iam a bit confused because copy paper is not a product you sell to your customer. Isn't it a product you purchase from a vendor?
