Hey y'all! Sorry for the extended leave of absence, school and work have been super busy lately and I've had barely any time for anything fun ;A;
But I'm back today to bring you a translation for Suzumu's amazing new song, Shoddy Utopia Policy! A song about the confusion that comes about with growing up in a school environment - something I'm sure we can all relate to.
The art by Saine is beautiful and while mostly blue, is insanely colourful - I love Saine's art to bits. Also Rin sounds amazing with Gibson's lovely guitar work. I'm loving the Rin Append~ Suzumu is such a versatile musician uwu

I can really relate to this song all the way to the end. When I was younger all I did was follow the rules cause obviously I didn't want to get in-trouble with my parents so as a result I wasn't really knowledgeable in my surroundings and outside world, but as I started getting older I really wanted to do things my own way and explore. That did end up with me going places I wasn't supposed too and skipping classes but it was never too serious. I just hope that some people can express themselves easily. Even if it's not completely good at least your doing something you wanna do and you comes first🙂

Reading these comments, I wish your family members didn't expect the near impossible from you guys. Isn't there a way to tell them that they shouldn't do that? I know people have expectations, but what your family members are doing feels wrong....sorry, I just felt like I should say something.
Sometimes parents have their own ideals for their children and they just get so sucked up in that ideal that they force it upon their children and forget that we might have our own ambitions and desires. However that all gets lost in the mad scramble to achivee their own desires. And when we whine they just say "Look at how he does his work. Can't you be better?" and just shrug it off. And when we just refuse to accept their ideals and fight for what we think is right, they'll just think of us a rowdy and uncouth. This is the hardest level in any game and there is only few ways to win.
Only by doing what you truly think and know is right for you

Iced Mocha im pretty sure it isn't a thing in Asia, cutting your hair in general can sometimes means that u went through something heavy and it signifies closure
yeah its just a visual metaphor that is more popular in asian and mostly japanese media (cough cough anime) than in the west

I can see where you're coming from, but I don't believe that's the case.
I think it's saying: "It's okay to break the rules once in a while and have fun". It's good to be "good", follow the rules, learn everything at school, but sometimes you NEED to break the rules and have fun. Basically, You shouldn't just be (in this case) a good student. You need to be free and do what you want. In a way, "bending" the rules.
Education is important. We need it to learn in life and grow as a person. But that doesn't men that's all we should do. Sometimes we just have to "break" the rules and have fun! Otherwise we won't really get the full enjoyment out of our lives.

Ever since I was 8 I've pretty much been forced to get first place in everything - Be it sports, academics or other activities - not by my parents but by my other relatives. I feel really pressured because of that because They are judging my parents based on me and I don't want to disappoint my parents. The one time I came in second in the level (when I was thirteen) everyone was glaring condescendingly at my parents and me and there were awful words I overheard. I can really relate to this song
