I really enjoyed 2/3 of the movie.....but for the life of me I just can´t figure out the meaning of the ending...

For me the ending is her either her coming to terms with being middle aged & feeling security in it, instead of pinning for her youth she sees the foolishness of youth in Chloe Grace Moretz's character and comes to a quiet, self realization in that last moment with a sense of grace. That's what I feel anyways but the film obvious addresses these ideas in organic, open ended ways for us to get what we each need from it. There is no true 1 answer, it's an experience from which we can gleam the answers we need.

Loved the movie although it left me confused. Like wth happened to Kristen character, she just disappeared in the clouds/ someone murdered her, she is suddenly gone..like ehm what has happened..? And expected the ending to be with the bigger sense of closure, so that was also surprising. But phenomenal acting by Juliette (I would give her Oscar immediately!!) and Kristen, their chemistry, just everything I enjoyed it so much:)

    How come the girl disappears?

Juliette's character can''t accept what Kristen's character is telling her about the play, which can essentially be boiled down to that being a middle aged woman isn't an ending, and since she can't take the advice Kristen leaves.

Is Binoche's character supposed to be a lesbian?

Phil Porter agreed. the film for me was like a long conversation where i wanted to pause it every other sentence so i could really think about what they were discussing. And I kinda liked that you weren't sure what was them reading a script and them speaking for themselves

Vebinz Maria explicated said she was straight during her conversation with Clause. I don't think her sexuality impacts her relationship with Val. It's not an attraction, but a form of companionship.

I see. It's just her looks are very "older lesbian"-ish.

for me she looks completely normal person. And I loved this about the movie.
In the alps not everything is glamorous. Ppl often have a frugal minimalistic & practical mindset, bc of living that way for centuries. This can lead to females being completely basic.

      I see.
I live in Los Angeles (many lesbians here), so that might have colored by interpretation of her looks.
