“Think of the towns in rural Unova. Think of Nuvema town in Unova. THEYRE EATING THE MEOWTHS. Theyre eating the Meowths they’re eating the Growlithes.”
ok but we can take this concept and expand it to make it more crazy. For the PokeNation we can split it up into the different Regions. If a Pokemon can be found in that region it can and will vote in that region, basically each Pokemon in each region counting as a single voter. I don't mean a Pokemon that shows up in multiple regions will vote the same way though. Expand for type preference to include, on a per voter basis, if a tie happens for type preference the ties are randomly ranked. This would mean that different pidgeys of different regions will vote different ways.
So I love the idea of type influence being the main theme for how votes were determined, but the competitive Pokémon player in me is now wondering how to adjust the model to include type synergies, as especially defensive synergies would bring up Steel's results and diversify the Normal bloc's votes, with a preference for Dark to handle Ghost's immunity and towards Fairy, Flying & Psychic to deal with their Fighting weakness. Otherwise a welcome distraction on election day~
That's not how votes work irl though, since people are selfish and want to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible. Plus being resistant could also result in a lot of stubborn decisions that don't really benefit other types.
Far as seeing similar in future, maybe a redo of this that adds all voters "remembering" this election and having these results influence their voting decisions? Strategic voting and whatnot?
I think a better approach for type choice would be grouping types that are similar, and prioritizing the first type a Pokemon has. For instance, a Grass/Ground type would vote Grass, then Ground, then it would choose Bug, Rock, Fairy, Steel, and so on.
All Type Slogans/Mottos: Ghost - Houndstone: WE WIN!! ( WHEN YOU DIE ) Steel - Melmetal: I AM THE PARTY MACHINE Dragon - Axew: Sorry, but my campaign will just drag on Fairy - Sylveon: I'll Be Your Fairy Tale Ending Flying - Tornadus: More. Mono. Flying. Types. Electric - Pichu: What? Were you expecting someone else? Dark - Darkrai: I AM the establisment's nightmare! Fire - Darmanitan: We won't burn you. I promise* ( *Maybe. We'll see. ) Ice - Galarian Darmanitan: MUCH cooler than the last guy Fighting - Primeape: Need another ANGRY politician? Poison - G-Max Garbodor: Why drain the swamp? When we could poison it. Rock - Garganacl: Throw rocks. Smash the system. Bug - Caterpie: Vote [1] BUG If I mess up, just squish me. Normal - Ditto: I'll be whatever YOU want me to be, baby Water - Kyogre: 7.8/10, not enough WATER Psychic - Wobbuffet: I will counter your problems Or mirror them. Haven't decided yet. Ground - Mudsdale: Ground Birds. Ban Levitate. Grass - Sprigatito: LEGALISE! And then leaf me alone.
There is no connection with Kamala - when Sun and Moon were relased in 2016 a lot of people thought Gumshoos was Trump, and Lurantis was Hillary Clinton because it looks like it's wearing a pantsuit
I'll admit, did not even think of Komala. Normal vs Normal like that as well... ah well, will save Komala for a sequel if I do a follow up for the Aus election
I think that Egg Groups would play a more prominent role in the voting choice of a Pokemon than types. It would cause the large faction of water types to break apart, while unifying uncommon types. I think a better system would prioritize egg groups, then the first and second typing of the pokemon in that order, and then the types most similar to those types, and so on.
It’s a very fun experiment but sadly it doesn’t match any known patterns, because voting blocks are erratic when compared to each other: a grass voter second choice would be water, while a water last choice would be grass, which is the opposite of how it works in real life, where you can roughly place all voters on an axis and they will choose the closest candidate

I wish I had the time (and ability to easily) to do a running-mate (dual type) version of the Pokelectoral College. Would love to see if a good VP pick can help out the middling types.
And of course the Stellar type doesn't get mentioned (mostly because it's not a very popular type). Terapagos has the Stellar type. I guess it goes largely ignored in the world of poke'politics. It's too niche to get very much attention. Such a shame, since Stellar type is the newest type. 😅😔🐢💎✨ Stellar type is even rarer than the Fairy type. 😱🤯

They're eating the Purrloins, they're eating the Lillipups!
They’re eating the Littens, they’re eating the Rockruffs!
Pokémon Go to the polls
As for me, I’ll vote for any candidate that executes Mindy and her damn haunter
Oh, you sly Pokédad! Is this a video about ranked-choice the whole time? Love it!

I kinda need these pokemon slogan posters.
Shoot me a dm on discord/Twitter and I can send you files 😊
It seems the pokémon elections would be way easier to figure out the winners faster than the US elections.
Awesome video!
Feels good to be a grass type fan rn
Please, do enjoy and revel this victory
- sincirely a grass type hater
Grass policies tend to be favorable to the fire party candidate and values… Sooo let’s go grass
Could you do the inverse, with resistances being favoured? They would be voting for the "strongest"
That's not how votes work irl though, since people are selfish and want to take advantage of as many opportunities as possible. Plus being resistant could also result in a lot of stubborn decisions that don't really benefit other types.
@@hungryironapple people IRL want to vote for strong leaders in times of crisis tho
Dark having the best popular-electoral split result is very fitting for the "evil" type

Gosh dang the amount of detail put into this was AMAZING! the whole idea was fascinating. Crazy to see Grass wreck havoc this much

I quite appreciate ranked choice voting, it's literally the best way to vote mathematically, we use it in both our school and state

I have a question, what is the connection of Kamala Harris and Lurantis????
There is no connection with Kamala - when Sun and Moon were relased in 2016 a lot of people thought Gumshoos was Trump, and Lurantis was Hillary Clinton because it looks like it's wearing a pantsuit

10:53 10% and 100% zygarde weren't introduced until generation 7
I personally would’ve made Kricketune the candidate for bug and rillaboom the candidate for grass.
It would be interesting to see how this model would apply to in a parliamentary vote.
Pokemon go to the polls
Hey I came up with my own Pokémon league for my own region called uluri I wanna know what you think
1st gym Leader Morgan (pyrces daughter) water type a relaxed surfer girl who loves her dad she writes letters to him often
keeps her Pokémon in Dive Balls

I wish I had the time (and ability to easily) to do a running-mate (dual type) version of the Pokelectoral College. Would love to see if a good VP pick can help out the middling types.
Brassius, Erika, Gardenia, and Ramos would be proud of President Sprigatito (Grass Party)
They got pokemon to go to the polls
So Water wins FPTP, Grass wins Runoff and The College, and Bug wins the Instant.
Let’s Pokémon go to the polls

Where's the meme with Lurantis? Shouldn't it be Komala?
gumshoos 2024
MAKE BALLS GREAT AGAIN OH NO

Why isn't it Komala?

Instead of Lurantis you could use Komala
