This looks very similar to the problem I'm having now. For your "silicone" (American here) - would a silicone caulking, like what you'd like in a kitchen or bath work to beef up the space between the worn rubber and the button? Curious as to exactly what material you used. Otherwise, great video! I'll likely give this a try before trading in my 510.
@@rickstechrepairs I also have the dog ears backing since the case failed me way back too. I'm determined to fix this, put it off over the winter (in the US). Thanks for the video!
Garmin 510 will not charge where I connect the USB cable into the mini USB port is loose would this cause the computer not to charge? Would I be able to fix this myself? Please advise.
Thank you very much for sharing this. It worked for me. My edge 510 is around four years old. Before finding this I thought I would have to get a new bike computer and I was unsure if I would buy another Garmin because it seems like it is a weak link in the computer. I hope Garmin has changed the on/off button in newer models. I used to turn the computer off when I was done with a ride now I just let it shut down on its own so I only use the on/off button half as much now.
Excellent video. A query .... it never happened to you that you entered the SECRET TESTING or something like that .... it happened to me and I can't get out. Every time I turn it on, it goes to that Menu. Thanks
I'm writing from the future on this comment... Same issue here. Got the old garmin out and all the buttons turned to mush. No parts available. Love/hate Garmin.

What material did you use to fill the button? I'm thinking of a silicone caulking, like what you'd use in a bathtub or around a backsplash.

Thanks
nar never got to the Testing menu, i think it would have been a button combo
@@rickstechrepairs ok. Thank you
my buttons rotted out. Can't find any part replacement for the front cover that are reasonably priced...better off buying a new bike computer.
Spares for this device seem to be non existent sadly
