Hearing 250 rupees for 250gms seems to be expensive, then i remembered i am from kerala even being a coastal state and blessed with lot of back waters, we have to pay Rs 130 -150 for a piece of king fish fry during a lunch with rice and curry in a descent hotel or 200 rupees for a abv avg sized karimeen ( pearl spot fish - a fresh water fish delicacy in kerala) Rs180-190 for a portion of mussels too, basically fish have become more of a pricier food item over the years, with dwindling fish population due to over fishing. ps : there are eateris serving fish at lower rates in kerala but overall fish items in hotel are way more expensive than other non veg items, soon king fish, pomfret, mussels, lobsters, prawns fresh water fishes etc will be super expensive for a commoner to enjoy.
