As a die-hard Gers fan, have to say this was a joy to watch as it instantly brought back memories of many a time watching my team play Celtic in the mid to late 1960s, plus watching Celtic fight their way thru to the European cup final and winning it. Also remember my pal, Jimsey Fagen's big brother, Andy, take us to the Vanguard hall in Whiteinch one night in '67, to watch a film of the European Cup final...that turned out to be a very enjoyable night. Lastly, my abiding memory of Parkhead, was in '68, when as 12 year olds, I went with Jimsey to see Celtic play some team at night...at halftime we ran onto the park and me always wanting to be a goalie, stood between the goalposts to the left as you come our the tunnel...I'd always thought it would be a soft landing on the grass at the big stadiums when diving for the ball, so I took a big dive to the left post to save an imagined shot at goal...as I landed on the not so soft grass, a big laugh erupted round the stadium from the watching Celtic fans...it was a strange and unforgettable feeling hearing thousands of fans doing this in unison...
stuart, great to hear what you said, i am a life long rangers man, but i love to watch any thing to do with the auld firm, that is orr history, i have a bar in my house and i have as much celtic stuff as rangers stuff, along with orange hibs masonic ireland scotand, i can upset every one !! muby one day drop in for a pint, god bless, jim little
aye & wee bertiebhoy still singing the celtic song he started singing it in the tunnel on lisbon he had we. stop coz their was a cup wd. play 4 the european cup was bigger than bobby lennox & wee jinky lol i love each & everyone of these special men they've all stuck together like a band of brothers all i can say 2 my father is "thank you for introducing me to the celtic family & becoming a member of the family makes me a special person" what a team the lions were hh
I think I'm right in saying that right-back , Jim Craig ( aka Cairney ) , was the only player on a part-time contract . He was a qualified dentist by profession .
Big jock could've said he was Jesus Christ himself & everybody would have believed it because we had so much faith in the man those bhoys who played in Lisbon were born to play for Celtic big jock may have been brought up on the blue side of the divide but his father gave human ultimation sign for Celtic & you will never be welcome to his parents home big jock signed for the Celts never spoke to his father again & the rest is history if I'd had to pick 2 teams I think would be a magical game would be the Lisbon Lions v the Brazilian team of 70 world cup winning team & I bet they'd have tried hunting to see if jinky had a Brazilian blood link the lions will never be forgotten by the supporters in a thousand years the Lisbon Lions will still be spoke about that is how good this team was hail hail
Ha isint it funny how some of the best managers came from Scotland , Jock , Shanks , Alex all gave there team something to belive in and that was to win
