Seeing someone learn it live with your tips is the next level for trick tips! Seriously, I wish there were more trick tips like this out there. Seems like he made every mistake he could have and you could address it in real time, which is really helpful so when we make that same mistake we can just plug the feedback into our own process. Just brings new depth and detail of learning the trick. Really cool.
I set up my foot position like a tre flip, then a pop and literally hook my feet on the edge of the board and push it into the bs bigspin. It’s all in your back foot, front foot does nothing. I’ve done them down double sets, and bigspin front board on a handrail, once you figure out your technique then it’s a pretty easy trick. Watch Josiah Gatlyn’s trick tip video on them for more help.
I never knew until now how you don't really need so much scoop on this trick to make it. Like, I landed the best bigspin I ever landed three tries after watching this video. Flattening the back foot was EVERYTHING. Thanks man (and Ishod too)
Hey localjoe!! First of all i love ur videos! I’ve been watching them for maybe a year now and im always so excited when u drop a new one! This video obviously is very different since u teached somebody with tips u figured out from a pro skater. And i really enjoyed it! The skate teacher role fits u perfect and i really wanted ur buddy to get the bigspin. And most of all, the tip/ hacks u get out of ishod wairs technique really work (for some people at least)! Maybe this is a nice way to grow ur channel until u actually can do trick tips with pro skaters in person. Much love from Germany!
Skating on and off for like 20 yrs. Never really cared about bigspins. But these tips just improved my skating, across the board. Lol. Ollying off the mid section (hotdog), transferring rotation from shoulders to feet, & keeping the heel down. Makes such a huge difference, feels more consistent! Thanks, to Utah county joe.
For me, switch bs and fs bigspin are easier for me to do, my regular are a hit or miss. But I was watching the way Ishod sets up for fs bigspin when I was watching him on BATB and it helped me understand how to do those better.
Man the heal down I never thought of that. I've never done a big spin in one motion only the pivot ones. But I used to have switch back big spins. I had the wind up and stance just like ishod but doubt I always kept the heal down because I never thought of it. Yet it makes sense because my switch back shuvs were always better than my regular shoves and I keep my heal more down switch - thanks for the tip!
Much love and respect to you and your channel local joe. I hope that all is well for you and your family and friends and I hope that all of your dreams and aspirations come true and that you are safe during your travels and adventures and skateboarding.
Great video and articulation as always. I love your channel. Thank you for what you do and everything you have done and your contribution to TH-cam and skateboarding.
Another tip for me on bigspins that helped me learn them is to catch the board at 90 degrees with your front foot so that the board is tilted the right way.
I find the backside bigspin is easier if you feel like the pivot of the rotation hinges from your back foot. So your back foot is waiting to catch the nose when it comes around. The weight should be on that back foot through the movement if you were to fall, it would be forward after you land.
Great tip 👌 personally, I also like to start turning my body from the wind up a little earlier. That’s what really got them down for me. But everyone is different. Great video brotha 🤟
I love everything about this tip video. My only lil gripe; y’all are trying to learn / improve a trick in a tiny, confined space! I’ve seen your vids. That park got a more open flat area. Other than that, this made me happy and nostalgic to being a park rat and learning from the older park regulars. Keep it up. Your skating & content are progressing and it’s dope
To add on to your breakdown of back bigspins; step 1 & 3 play a larger role in the trick imo. The Prewind & flat back foot slice are what really make or break this trick
I do the big spins the same way as ishod but I explain it differently I just have a really nice front foot catch pop shuv and I learned that if I pinch my left wheel down I’m goofy Back foot in pop shuv position a good amount of Presure on the left foot you have to wind before you pop and make sure the front foot and back foot. Is leveled in the middle of the board it’s a fun n cool trick 🔥
This one been the hardest big spin for me I got it 90% there just never get the bolts landing I’m looking for going to try focusing on getting my back shoulder around
I can backside bigspin pretty clean and I literally have my front foot near the bolts and sideways. The exact thing he says will show you it’s harder lol I just thought that was funny.
I you're actually doing it totally properly like textbook, I could always bigspin but I would kinda just rely on the ground to keep the eventual flip from happening. Catching a bigspin is difficult, I've only ever once done it over a Gap which was a 5 stair, and if I were doing it this way it would have made me focus on catching it as part of the rotation instead of trying to stomp it like a backside flip. If that makes any sense..
For me the trick was to pop hard, straight down to the core of the earth, like snap that spit like Thanos. As long as you get a good flick and are comfy landing switch, the snap helped me catch them higher
Big spin is a really cool and easy trick on flat but ngl when u try it on gaps feels soo weird is rrally crazy haha Haven't land one in a gap cause is really weird for me on but in rails or ledge is really cool to do them like big spin front boards or big spin fs nose slides
This sounds like obvious advice but you need to jump straight up. It's tempting to lean on the toes because you feel like you have more leverage but it will ruin the pop and send the board away from you. If you can stay balanced and over the board as you crouch down AND as you jump up the board will naturally stay under you the rest of the way.
Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. I'm trusting in nothing but the blood of Jesus to pay for my sins to keep me out of hell. Just like accepting a plea bargain in court.

Dude, this helped so much! I’ve been neglecting this trick for a decade but with your tips, I learned bs bigspin in 30 minutes
Dude thanks for sharing these tips. Greatly helped me, and landed my first bigspin yesterday!
Lol this trick has always been interesting to me but never worked for me, can’t wait till I get them
You got it!

Awesome vid Joe! Cool to see your locals making cameos 👍
Stoked you liked it
Damn bigspins are kind of on my radar at the moment and now this has got me really hyped to properly start learning them! Thanks for the insight!

Been trying to get this one popped for a long time but the board always flips over for me, this is good info! Thanks for making this vid.
i wish i had someone back then to analyse and describe tricks like he does!
Loving this new template bro.
Your video felt more alive now
great feedback thanks!

Need to do front bigs soon!
Really love ishod style so effortless 🔥
Keeping thinking he's gonna say yass queen! 😆 super helpful video! Gonna have to check out more
If you can’t do this trick just do a pop shuv it and a bs 180 at the same time and you’ll realize how easy this trick is
deceptively simple
Wanted this trick for ages, going to try this out today 😉
Really appreciate the channel
come back and drop some more knowledge like this absolute fire

I literally just think of a pop shuvit while I do the trick makes it easier
yeah once you rotate the shoulders right it's literally just a pop shuv
Local Joe for Prez
planning on it
Ouuu🔥🔥🔥 that was cleann af
Please do Ellis Frost's effortless 360 flip/tre flip
I need to!
@@localjoe yeyyyy
Yeah bro so good from Costa Rica

thats a pressure spin and you spelled pressure wrong just sayin.
This one been the hardest big spin for me I got it 90% there just never get the bolts landing I’m looking for going to try focusing on getting my back shoulder around

Damn that was just like ishods

10 min gang❤
Love you 🙏🏼❤️
great explanation and analysis of the trick, but how you can avoid flipping the board
Watch to the end of the video it's all about keeping the back heel down

The secret is popping behind the bolt like an inch under it like a manual
Believe in yourselves and each other.
can you please break down bs heels, no matter what i can’t fully land on the board n rollaway🙏

That's tough... I've done a few It would be a good challenge!
I do that hand thing on all bs 180 tricks but maybe not that extreme
Yeah it helps a lot but can be overkill for just a 180
you should make a second channel for gaming and you should play skater xl and session
Learn fakie bigspins first. They’re way easier.
Big spin is a really cool and easy trick on flat but ngl when u try it on gaps feels soo weird is rrally crazy haha

Want to do bigspin front board soon!
@@localjoe its a really good and easy trick brother u got it for sure bro
Bruuuh he did that nice
day 1 of asking local joe for a bryan arnett late shuv hack
never thought skateboarding content would get to this 😂😂
If you skate your arms should already go into that position. It’s a natural reflex. Same when going fakie or switch.
Jaja I stayed for the kid in the end all the sudden. My body wasnt doing what My brain told it to do.. I dunno man
man i cannot keep this trick underneath me to save my life only way i can land is if ithe ground is super slick and i can just no pop bigspin
This sounds like obvious advice but you need to jump straight up. @@localjoe tvhankyou ill have to keep this in mind it seems like a very possible reason for my trouble
Hold on every skater going back side or front side turns their arms and shoulders. Ishod is just a g mate. Go out and practice
also, just watch chris joslin doing them, hes the absoulute god of bigspins.
Bro he just skates a lot..
its more about the shoulders, but nice
joe needs to do training lesson for kids irl and yt
i'm so afraid to do bs 180s
local joach
Try to keep your back foot down
First
❤️🙏🏼
He just floats, him and O'Neil only 2 street skaters that hoverboard not skateboard

All he is doing talking and not doing the trick !!! This video help no one
haha helped the kid who landed his first bigspin
Shoulder position is 🗝️ key to this trick. Keep em level in your turn
