In this video, we visit the long-awaited exhibition Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, organized by the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The show examines the work of Karl Lagerfeld, focusing on the designer’s stylistic vocabulary as expressed in aesthetic themes that appear time and again in his fashions from the 1950s to his final collection in 2019. The exhibition features approximately 150 pieces on display accompanied by Lagerfeld’s sketches, which underscore his complex creative process and the collaborative relationships with his premières or head seamstresses. Lagerfeld’s fluid lines united his designs for Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel, and his eponymous label, Karl Lagerfeld, creating a diverse and prolific body of work unparalleled in the history of fashion.

Earlier this spring I watched the Netflix about the Met and Andrew and I had no idea what the MET galla was all about. It opened my eyes to a whole new world and, at 46, I was able to see how fashion truly is a work of art. I wanted to go see this so badly just to see the fairy tale castle dress in person. Thank you for this experience!! I am still crying because it is all so beautiful!!!!
