The 2011 team was better than this one, although these guys made a spirited run from 3-5 to 8-6, only for it to all fall apart again. I'll always remember that game against the saints though. If they could've pulled that off, they'd be 9-6 with all the momentum going into the final game. It was also our misfortune that this was the one year that nobody knew what to do about RGIII. Romo could've done some damage in the playoffs, he was on fire late in the year.
We lost that game to the Saints after a forced fumble on Jimmy Graham bounced 30 yards ahead and was recovered by the Saints in prime fg range. Such a weird / crappy way to lose.
You can't have a dominant D and a dominant O with a salary cap. What was missing was Romo inability to force the other team to play into the Cowboys' defensive strength. Always one side of the ball was bad. They never invested in drafting premier postions like DT or S to complete the team
