Actually no, pilot always goes on the back, and the second person seat as close as possible to the aircraft CG, so it will always fly the same way, the CG does not change much fwd or aft if it has the passenger or not. So it is due to weight and balance.
@@agpereirav well, we’re going to disagree. Take a look at photos of a chippy being flown solo, the Vans RV4 and RV8 as another example of solo from the front seat. There are numerous aircraft that are flown solo from the front seat.
Lots of debate but there appears one common thought. With the Super Chipmunk, placing the pilot in the rear seat shifts the center of gravity toward the rear, which is beneficial for handling during aerobatic flights. Additionally, the rear seat offers a better view for the pilot when performing stunts, as it allows them to see more of the sky and the environment around them. I’m sure there are exceptions.

Smooth as butter.
How many gallons of fluid does the smoke generator hold.
Be nice to have an onboard camera on this.
Pretty airplane.
Makes me think of Chuck Stockdale.
Thanks...AirShow Stuff...!
Cool plane
Cool
Appears to me, solo flight is moved to the rear seat to offset the weight of the 6cyl setup
