An example is the texas monarchy, where your nation is seized by the Texan oil barons, which by itself is an enjoyable path, and then you launch a coup forming a military junta, which also is another great path, and then you have a decent of sam houston (a texan revolutionary figure) take over and form the kingdom of texas, and you have other options/paths for texas, like creating a Czech texas
