Would love to visit just to ride Phoenix. I rode it in Texas in 1980 when I was a kid. There were no safety concerns that I recall. But then again it was my first non child coaster.
Back in the seventies and eighties, before Six Flags and other theme parks started installing ratcheting mechanisms on their coasters…ALL wooden coasters across the country had simple buzz bars, just like Kennywood & Knoebel’s. Imagine having over a hundred coasters across the country to fly out of your seats on! It was wonderful.
I stumbled on your channel and it hit me right in the feels. I did the exact same thing with my daughter, who is about your daughter’s age, and took her on a huge coaster trip the past two years. We hit all the same parks as you guys except we didn’t do holiday world or silver dollar city yet, we did the two Virginia parks. We are from PA too. And I just love to see a father daughter team having so much fun. I salute you guys 💪. Heading to Hershey this weekend actually!!!
Fun video. Thank you. Our family loves Knoebel’s too. You would probably like Kennywood park in Pittsburgh too. Three wooden coasters there….all with buzz bars!
I went to Knoebels in August of last year. There usually is not a long wait for any of the rides. the longest wait I had was for Flying Turns. everything else was a station wait. I also loved the prices for food and souvenirs.
I don't know if I could have done the trackless coaster. That is crazy. I love it that " that wasn't a safe ride - I'm going to ride five more time" LOL Scream Machine use to be that way - then they added seatbelts. That Cosmotron was so cool - What I called the Himalaya back in the day at the board walk in Myrtle Beach. It was my most favorite ride. No way I could handle it now - But having it inside like that - totally awesome.
Flying Turns, the trackless coaster, is the coolest ride ever. Rubber wheels on a wooden trough, just like a bobsled run, is very smooth and quiet, doesn’t jerk you around, a completely different and not scary coaster. I’m in my 70s, we take the grandkids two or three times a summer and I try to ride it every time. You would be pleasantly surprised and glad you tried it.
I’ve been to over 40 parks across the continent and StratosFear might be my favorite drop tower. I haven’t been on the ones at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay or Six Flags Over Georgia though.
"Why is that spinning?" So over the years, Knoebels acquired several carousels that couldn't be restored. So they took the structure for them, put roofs on them, and made them into canopies for the Round Stand.
grandson did the pheonix for the first time ever with his mom the day right before fathers day! twice in a row tickits only that saturday otherwise he said that we could not ever get this kid off!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you think Kairi and Dad could persuade Mom to ride Flying Turns on your next visit to that awesome park? Roller Coaster Data Base (RCDB) has Black Diamond listed as a coaster. Kairi's "Never Again"" quote on Knoebels Haunted Mansion will change after a few years or so.😅
Okay so incase you still dont know, the reason you are weighed on flying turns is to make it so they can properly distribute weight in carts. If there is too much weight in a cart it'll go too fast and risk falling of the track since there isnt tracks to hold it in place so it can be dangerous. Having peoples weights they can move and adjust people into different carts to keep the train from going too fast ^^ If I remember correctly the heaviest riders go in the back to add some drag to the ride so its not going too fast either but that part im not 100% sure on(i've ridden it a few times)
The diamondback is a rollercoaster it used to be either morey's pier as the Golden Nugget so you should count it as a credit. Also the Cosmo curve coaster adults can ride so you missed a credit for you guys there at Knoebels..it was replacement for the high speed thrill coaster which I say was better The spinning roof was off a former carousel cover which is being spun by the water wheel next to the old mill. Also you could've visited the bald eagles behind the diamondback Next time bring your go pro camera if you have one cause loose cameras are really not allowed in the coasters you need to the office for a permit to ride the coasters strapped to yourself... It's the dropping of the phones why Knoebels have these rules they don't want anyone to get hurt... I know you might not like this about them but I am leaving you know about the rule ok, next time you go there... Oh in two years Knoebels turn 100 on the 4th of July
I can't believe The Phoenix doesn't have seatbelts. Apparently(according to reddit) The Rollo Coaster incident at Idlewild had launch a bunch of safety restrictions in the state of PA, adding seatbelts to rides that didn't require them. Before that incident the thunderbolt at KW didn't have seatbelts, and the exterminator didn't require them past a high restriction.
@kevinmay9151 And Phoenix has been operating at Knoebels for 39 years with NO incidents, so seatbelts are NOT needed. It would destroy the ride experience if they were added .

The ice cream you got from old mill is from the company I work for. Best ice cream in the area.

Once you ride The Voyage in my home park in Indiana you will wonder why is Phoenix #1. The Voyage and The Legend in Holiday World will blow your mind!
You are right. We were at Holiday World a few weeks ago and Voyage is now my #2 overall favorite coaster. Stay tuned for that vlog very soon!
Phoenix is a masterpiece, most demonic airtime ever

All you had to say was, it's to balance the train as even as possible.

Me and my cousin went there

Is Kairi (oldest kid with longer hair) your son or your daughter?
Kairi is my daughter. The two year old is James.
The Black Diamond cars and track were from the Golden Nugget ride in Wildwood NJ
