This is solid advice. Invest. But you should definitely always have some cash in your bank for emergencies. Medical, car trouble, etcetc.

Worked at a BK in high school and bought savings bonds with every pay check. They paid 6% back then. Paid for college with them. I think the main benefit of them was that my money wasnt easily accessible like a savings account so it was difficult to spend on a whim.
Is it worth buying savings bonds nowadays? I’m still really young but I have a TSP and a Roth IRA. I don’t really know anything about savings bonds

Treasury bonds and things are decent, you dont have to pay state taxes on them, and are allegedly governnent backed.
But they might not pay very much in interest, thats the big trade off. It just depends what their interest rates are at the time.
Overall usually the S&P 500 will beat out a bank CD or Treasury bond, but any losses you have arent necessarily protected.
Though some losses can be a tax writeoff, up to 3k and some over that can be rolled over to next year.
Maxing out your Roth IRA, and 401k if you have one is generally the best thing to do, great steps.
Beyond those two things, people invest in CD’s, Stocks, Gold, Silver.
Having a mix of various things is a decent approach, dont have your eggs in one basket and all that jazz.
Though if you want to really make money, learn about properties, property values, any leans against certain properties etc, and try to buy a few good ones, to flip or rent or whatever.
Real estate beats everything, short of becoming some big time business owner, but real estate is a lot more work than people think, there are laws to follow, and a bit of risk, time, labor in fixing a run down place up. If you are physically able.
You gotta know what you are doing, and work hard, but it’ll make more money than any other investing thing out there by leaps and bounds.
Again after maxing out a Roth and 401k though, those two things are important!
Though I cant imagine most people having much free money left over after putting 7k into a Roth, and a couple more thousand into a 401k.

10000$ invested in a savings accounts will remain 10000$ (plus minimal interest) after 25 years.
but the "purchasing power" of that money decreases. because of "inflation", produce is more expensive over time (gas/food/real estate tends to increase in price) which means you can buy less.

if you invest money you could also lose it btw. Saving doesn't bring money down because of inflation. My mom was investing money but lost it a couple of years ago
Was she investing in index funds in an economically strong country? Cause even if she invested right before the Covid crash, she would still be up a grand 40% from NASDAQ or S&P500, a healthy 25% from Dow jones industrial. The only way to really lose long term if you're investing in index funds is if America completely collapses or something.

Inflation is much worse when the government prints money as if it's meaningless, and consequently money loses its value.
This is what I did: Series EE are a low-risk way to save money. They earn interest regularly for 30 years (or until you cash them if you do that before 30 years). For EE bonds you buy now, we guarantee that the bond will double in value in 20 years, even if we have to add money at 20 years to make that happen.
