    Einhänder being a monster in World of Final Fantasy and as a boss in XIV warmed my heart that Square didn't forget about it. World of FF also had Xenogears as a superboss.

    In my humble opinion, Einhander is one of the best shmups ever, and also one of the best PS1 games, Squaresoft games, and games ever made in general. You're right, though, it is pretty dang difficult.

    • @opaljk4835
      @opaljk4835 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it’s a great shmup…like, incredible. but one of the best ever? Maybe in the top 50, but even for the ps1 there was stuff like DoDonPachi and Syukyogeurentai (terra diver) and TFV and R Type Delta (which is pretty similar to Einhander in presentation). I love the game, but seeing so many people here proclaiming it as one of the best ever just seems like it’s getting a little more praise than it should, even though it is outstanding.

  • @morganmedrano920

    Love this game. I also wish they had tried another Bushido Blade. A PS2 version could have been amazing. It was such a cool mechanic to have realistic melee fighting. Try the first and then the second and it will show you just how good a PS2 version could have been. I also enjoyed the combat system for PE andVS.

    Einhander was such a treat. I was already a Square fan from the various RPGs they had released up to that point so I was willing to give their games a chance.
    I was not expecting such a robust shooter with great weapons, mechanics and secrets.
    Getting your first Juno or Flash made you feel so powerful..... Till you realize that your strongest damage option is the propulsion of your ship when you change speeds. No reason to have that other than to make players notice and push them to try other things.
    Tho the most memorable bits to me was the entirety of stage 6 and 7.
    Fighting the Black Ghost, then Monitor followed by the story beat a rage against the machine in a literal sense then what happens after. I still remember it to this day.
    That and the boss theme Shudder is amazing and I'm still shocked they never noticed the F-word in the rap sample.

    If you're looking to do more videos about off beat, atypical genre Squaresoft games, check out Racing Lagoon. It's a JDM street racing RPG for the PSX in the same vein as Initial D or Maximum Tune. Was never released outside of Japan, but a fan translation was fully completed and released a couple of years ago.
    It's hard to get into until you start upgrading your cars and the character art is very....... 'interesting', but once you get past that it's actually a really good game, with a killer soundtrack to boot.

    So grateful you covered Einhander! A memory i treasure is the transition to the satellite boss after disabling the rocket. The song change and frantic intro as you're gaining altitude to pursue, the beat starting up as it soars overhead past the sun, oh it's one of the most memorable boss introduction in my entire gaming life.
