Thank you so much for sharing your time with us! I thought it was really interesting how you spoke architecture giving back to the city and integrating public space within buildings and just around them.
I like your comment about how architecture has to go back and relate to the city. I think we are taught sometimes to think about how to make our designs stand out, but we often forget about the surroundings, which then creates conflict. Thank you for your time!
Thank you for your time and ideas. I agree that Architects are important as they shape the design of a city. All the different architecture in a city makes up the overall design of the city.
Thank you for your time and thoughts on the topic. I really like the idea of architecture giving some of itself back to the city in the way of public space. I have always thought of these more social spaces such as atriums and courtyards as more part of the buildings than the cities which they reside in. I think its a great idea to open these spaces outward, making them more accessible to the city as a whole.
Thinking about architecture in relation to the city is so important! You points on this topic, including giving back to the city not just fitting in are really interesting!
Hi Maria! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. This point stood out to me about how architecture in the 80s and 90s was not built in relation to the city, but now there is an emphasis on having architecture built in relation to the city (or giving back). It does tie into the point about how in contemporary society still needs civic space but it's a civic space connected to the city.
Thank you so much for your thoughts! You make really great points on needing to reemphasize contextual relationality in urban architecture. It would be interesting to consider why we grew away from prioritizing this as a field...
I like your point about how cities are places for the future. It is important to create flexible design that can adapt to the inevitable changes within a city.
I share the thought that architecture must somehow return public spaces to the city, in the past we tried to fill the empty spaces but now we should go back and design more outdoor spaces dedicated to the community and society connected to the city.
