    In fact, if you plan on walking or traveling with this Belka AllMode, you should consider purchasing a case.
    I chose one from the Hermitshell Travel Case series.
    I bought Belka AllMode last fall - with a speaker and a accumulator kit with higher capacity.
    Headphones are better for using this receiver when traveling and the radio works "2 x forever" with larger battery.
    One can also take a mini speaker if planning, for example, to spend a weekend with friends around a bonfire.
    I chose for this
    AYL Mini Speaker with 3.5 mm plug.

    I may be downsizing to a condo and was considering the GA-800 if it comes to that. Just crossed the ga-800 off the candidates list. Always impressed and entertained by your videos, Nick. Thanks.

      Glad to help Don. Get a Wellbrook if you can or similar active loop. You can still use it indoors.

    I also tried the GA800 as well as other antennas - for the Belka, nothing seems to do as well as the whip! Although inside I do connect the Belka via coax to my Wellbrook ALA-1530 mounted outside and that does pretty well.

      With my wellbrook it overloads on MW though I do have 2 strong local transmitters here plus the maximum speaker volume is rather low with mine

      Yeah the built in speaker is an issue for me it works ok indoors though sometimes I connect to an amplified Bluetooth speaker via aux, taking that speaker outside though defeats the point of it being so compact earphones are an option, though I usually just end up taking another receiver. I do like the way this thing tunes through the ham bands though no fine tuning necessary and it doesn’t have distortion like most DSP receivers, in those respects it’s quite amazing.

    Thanks for the nice video! I read from the manual that you need an isolated transformer to connect to any external antenna. Not sure it will make any difference though.

    To receive DX, you need to set the volume to maximum, and adjust the sensitivity from 80-70 sometimes more. Otherwise, you will get noises and the station disappears into them. Never set the sensitivity to 100% AGC does not work there, maximum 80%. If you have a powerful station, you need to listen at full volume and adjust the volume of the signal with sensitivity. For high-quality reception of a powerful EM signal, the sensitivity should be set to 50-70-80-90 on a scale. If the AM signal goes beyond the 50 mark. In any case, strive to reduce sensitivity in order to get rid of noise.

      Very hard to get the Russian original. I have the Chinese clone. Have no problem with mine at all. Apparently the designer licenced it to be built in China. The only difference I've heard is the method of updating the firmware.

    This is not a fair comparison. The Belka is optimize for hi-Z antennas (very high Z in fact, like 5-10k Ohms) whereas the GA-800 outputs at 50 Ohms.

      @@charlesfeinstein7035 then why does the Belka work even better on the Wellbrook?

      @@dieselten01 I wish I knew. I would be curious to know whether the Wellbrook is also located in roughly the same indoor location as the whip and the GA-800. What I do know is that I use a GA-800 as a travel antenna. It performs poorly with my Belka, but quite decently with my Tecsun PL-680 (which has a low-Z external antenna input). The GA-800 isn't particularly high gain, but its main advantage is that the small loop is quite directional and can be used to null out noise. In high RFI environments like an urban area hotel room this can be quite an advantage.

    Why did you not walk outside with the small loop beside your big loop and test it

    • @dieselten01
      @dieselten01  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You do have a point there. But I was very disappointed when the small loop basically was worse than that small whip. That loop is advertised as an indoor antenna

    • @dieselten01
      @dieselten01  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, I had previously done an outdoor test on my patio with this small loop and a Sony outdoor antenna, forgot the model number, and the small loop really performed no better on my patio. The reason I did not mention this is because people tend to not believe what they don’t see. If I was to say this without showing it in the video people think I’m just a liar.
