Excellent, well presented, respectful and beautiful work bro.
When I make mine I start by ripping the timber lengthwise and spinning one end around then epoxy it together using the smooth clean surfaces. This laminating process makes any piece of wood many times stronger and unbreakable and gives a good line to work to that cannot be lost.
Just my two cents worth and not to take it away from yours mate. I am learning much from you. Your work and your sharing of it is admirable and I stand in respectful awe of you and your work and the historical significance and formidable weapon of war that the taiaha is and the ways your people regard and use it.
    Awesome.

I'm just learning to carve. The fullah teaching me is teaching me with the file. I'm actually not to keen on machinery for the reason that I feel I have more control with the file and sand paper. I carving a pou whenua at the moment, and just finished carving a mere. Thank you for sharing.

That is awesome! its all about the respect for the process. Ill give it up to my life long brother Clayton Pouwhare who carved his taiaha out of a broken piece of glass, consider the file an advanced tool in comparison.

Kia Ora Bodie, I have a question im hoping you can help me out with! Is there a particular set length of the taiaha in relation to the height of the person it is being made for or if making it themselves?
