It took my husband a while to get on board, too. Throwing a bunch of information at him was not the way. I tried to find the right moments to ease him into a conversation about these types of topics. I'm not gonna lie there were some arguments. Some things he trusted my knowledge and other things I needed to back up with some of the proof of research. We're now in the process of taking advantage of the 13 acres we have and are both learning a lot. I also prayed. Try to be patient. My prayers will be for you and your husband tonight 💛

Going into DC to the symphony with my mother, the cab we were in got swarmed by at least 13 males. The cab driver had experienced this before. Doors were locked, we held onto the door handles and the driver turned over his clipboard which listed his next stops. He said they were trying to scare us, which they did, and to see his next stop so they could rob him. These males were on the hood, roof, trunk and trying to open the doors. By the Grace of God we came out unscathed. This was approximately 50 years ago!

Yes. It was scary for a young child
They were dressed in all black trench coats and long at that. There were at least 13 of them. As they were walking down the sidewalk their eyes met mine. They came over as a group and swarmed! The light also turned green or else I believe they would have broken in. Cabs were heavy metal back then and overall more sturdy than what is driven today. Obviously an experience I have learned from. God is Great!

Made very good income the past 25 yrs, but lived like a miser and saved and reinvested extra savings into things that usually go up in value or skills that i never would have been able to get otherwise. My grandfather, who lived through the great depression, always told me people have it in reverse - you should apply the tourniquet as earlier in the "good times" as you can before the bleeding starts. You'll have the stockpile needed for a rainy day and you'll already be conditioned for the "bad times". Well managed companies do the same. I got laid off in July from a high paying tech job. Since then, I haven't even been able to even get an interview. I believe many tech workers are in the same position. If that's true, this will have definite impacts on communities. When the former workers spending is withdrawn from local economies, the hardship will cascade. This is what the Federal Reserve wanted when they raised interest rates. In their view, the loss of jobs would help the inflation situation, but now they've started cutting rates while essentials - most notably housing - is still prohibitively expensive for large swaths of the population. Stagflation will surely put a strain on our society which was already coming apart.

Agreed. I was in the investment industry managing money for over a decade. I got out. It doesn’t make sense anymore. The markets are not about fundamentals, it’s all based on what the federal reserve is going to do with interest rates and it’s balance sheet. I’m invested in things that should outperform as the dollar is devalued and we see more inflation. I moved out of the city into the country 10 years ago. Been a great decision. With how high the cost of everything is now I don’t understand how the economy hasn’t collapsed yet. But one thing I’ve learned in the financial markets is they can be irrational a lot longer than you think. And government can create money to paper over problems. Nobody knows when the music is going to stop. But eventually it will.

So when is it going to happen?" Basically, he doesn't believe it's going to happen. He once asked me; "if everything is so bad and corrupt and you say, where are all the whistleblowers?" Well last night, I actually showed him a congressional hearing of 4 individuals who work for one of the alphabet agencies ending with an I and starting with an F, blowing the whistle on the deep corruption and how they were penalized for standing for truth. Lastly, I live in a small city but our homeless problem is ever so growing because the big city is sending all of them here and they sleep in our river bed and start fires. An idea to afford getting to the country is to pitch the idea of sharing a farm with adult family. My parents, sister, brother and I all moved to a 20 acre property in 2021. It actually saved my parents' business, because sales went down but their rent of an industrial shed went from $2k a week to $0, because they used a farm shed instead.
The electric bill for all of us, despite price increases, is not even what it was in 2021 for two of our houses, before. And that's including having a manufacturing business on site. So many pros to lure family in!

That is a possibility but a very challenging one. People can have very different mindsets especially when it comes to sharing the work around a homestead. Easier with family (but sometimes harder).

@@CountryLivingExperience So true. I didn't know I had an anger problem until moving here. I learnt more about myself in one year than I had the previous 10. Living alone (or with immediate family), we get very used to not having to explain the job we're doing to multiple people, or they'll interfere and undo your hard work.
My dad hates closing gates, so he'd drive through with the intention of going back, but he'd forget. We had SEVERAL issues of cows getting out because of his carelessness and wrong assumptions on animal behaviour in the first year.
One time the cows got into my half-acre flower farm-garden!
It IS worth it though. None of us want to go back to a house on a suburban block! ;-)

Lobbying is not "hidden corruption". In other countries THIS is the corruption. The better term is "legalized corruption".
Street take overs have always been a thing. I believe social media bombards us with tons of information that we assume there's some unique disturbance in the system.
Am in no way suggesting we stay less vigilant. But it would be beneficial to put things into perspective. We were once young and if all the things were to be published of what we or our friends did. It would seem like today.

Car culture has been co-opted by influences and hooligans looking for 5min fame. I am part of car culture, we had an outlet for this it was called a race track then they started closing those and putting restrictions on noise. And we were relegated to driving SIMs or buying track time. The hooligans took to the streets!
