LitRPG Is Here To Stay, However

LitRPG, a subset of progression fantasy, is super popular, for fair reason. As all popular things do, it's getting a lot of hate and I think the actual words being used have caused undue arguments. Specifically what does it mean for something to have "video game logic". You don't have to be writing a LitRPG to include the contrivances familiar to us from video games, but you certainly should not. Please, authors, put some thought into whether a game mechanic exists for immersion and narrative, or if it is for playability of the game. Books are not games. Do not put those contrivances in!
