Season 6 is by far the best season, so much life was brought back to hermitcraft. Before then is was mostly making really big farms and shops. Honestly inviting Grian was the best decision they ever made, hes always getting involved in some shenanigans and he loves dragging everyone else into it.
Oh man! One of the reasons I adore the Prank/Civil War so much is how naturally it unfolded. No grand overarching plan. The Hermits just kinda rolled with the punches.
Yes. I feel like the hermits went into the mycelium war with the knowledge it would become an actual war, but this one naturally unfolded and nobody realised what it would escalate into until it was too late
I agree that all the hermits are liable in starting it, but if I had to pick one action that started the chain, in my opinion it was Cleo that started the whole thing. Iskall's chicken was still a regular prank, he took credit for it, and it was a prank like any other. However by changing the sign Cleo diverted attention and pulled multiple people into the fray and it escalated from there. Iskall took a page out of HER book by changing the signs of the ghost ship to get Grian involved in that, but Cleo started it fabulously by 'making it better'. In my opinion the winner of the Civil War is Cleo, not because she was part of the winning team but because a simple thing as changing a sign without a doubt 'made it better'.
Even if Iskall was given the diorite. He wasn’t told “Hey! Prank someone with this!” So you’re correct. Even if he got this from a prank, it doesn’t matter.
@ichi _gt The continent of Europe single handedly started the entire prank war by existing, letting anyone from Europe exist and letting notch exist to create Minecraft, letting hermitcraft start, and letting grian prank Mumbai while he was afk, which started the entire prank war.
My favourite part of the war was how it seemed to get worse and worse and more and more confusing with each passing day to the point where I was just itching to see what happened next and literally was spending 4 hours plus watching EVERY Hermit's video to see how their perspective on the war was going. When the teams were formed I genuinely only knew that Tango, Grian, Mumbo, Iskall and Stress would be one team and the other would be the stock exchange fellows and everyone else was seemingly split random because who even knows who goes where because what the heck is going on anymore and it was fantastic.
Well, that's what happens when you put a bunch of prank-happy (same as trigger happy, but with pranks) hermits together. CHAOS! Absolutely hilarious chaos!
I actually created a whole page of what led up to the prank war X'D. It's all only one sentence because why not. The Prank War was crazy, let the explanation be crazy as well. I personally think that the Prank War started (and ended, coincidentally) with Grian, because I feel the Grian's prank on AFK Mumbo caused him to make that shulker box with obsidian. And when Iskall broke the obsidian, Mumbo gave him diorite, which he THEN used to make the chicken in a Grian costume.
I'd say the start of the prank war was when False stole the heads from Iskall's vault, which prompted him to build that chicken in the first place. But what really turned it from a simple exchange of pranks to a server-wide prank war was ZombieCleo's sign change bringing Rendog into the equation, which prompted False to drag Grian into this, which prompted... etc, etc, etc. As soon as people started bringing previously unrelated combatants into the conflict, it went from a skirmish to a full-blown war.
So what I'm getting out of this is: Iskall built a chicken in a Grian costume on Falses base, Cleo changed the name on the sign to say it was ReN, False teamed up with Grian because they were both basically pranked, so they built a deadly roller coaster which killed ReN, leading him into getting stock exchange bois to build a ghost boat at Cleo's base after finding out it was her fault for changing the sign, and then Iskall changed the signs to say Grian and put the book in HIS base before Cleo got online, making Grian die so he got Tango to team with him and rob the stock exchange, so they made Tangos store sell deadly firecrackers and kidnapping Sally (and making her die), Cleo and Joe then made a very old school prank, and Grian decided to make it *EVIL* so Joe makes a traditional 2b2t lava-fall on Gians base and shows him his IOU but then they become friends, and after ReN and False realise the chicken was from Iskall they get the chicken poop and nether rack and make a solid cake on Iskalls sAnd castle and makes Grian pathetically blow it up, and then Iskall makes a creepy room making up teams in his basement and the Civil War starts. wow.
not only was it bigger than the NHO of past season but it was so large in scale that it actually kept Wels to keep on staying in the server a little longer before being away for being burnt out of any inspiration to do something.
I would argue that Scar actually caused most of the chaos, because he stole the diamonds from the stock exchange prank and kept that info hidden, making it seem that Grian was the one that stole them. And Grian for messing with Doc's Bush + his involvement in the majority of the pranks.
Was it actually Scar then? I remember some episode he said he found them with a #Jingled sign on them. But that could be a lie, or he could be the jingler...
The Hermit civil war is probably one of the greatest examples of the butterfly effect that a little Mumbo AFK:ed lead to one of the most interesting event in Hermit history

I think this second prank war is gonna be crazier than the first. I mean, we already got thousands of dragon eggs and also a robot battle lol. It seems like it's only gonna get crazier and I love it!

There's one very key factor that sets Iskall apart from the others you mentioned at the end: no one knew who it was that changed those signs and baited Grian until he admitted it.
I swear to God if future Grian is responsible for the Ghosy Ship Book thing and not Iskall, I would watch every hermitcraft episode starting from the beginning until the end with all the videos of the members.
Iskall idea came from the obsidian cage afk that he and grian trapped mumbo, mumbo gave him diorite inside a chest surrounded by obsidian, he took the diorite, and use it as the chicken poop
So I started following HC with Season 9 and came here to catch up on the war that happened "last time Grian touched DocM redstone". I am so confused :D

I'm going to be honest, the most memoriable moments for me were Joe pulling the IOU and him leaving during the fight. At first I was confused by his manners of speech(it's hard to tell when he is serious or joking), but during the war I couldn't help but cackle every time he said something funny. I legit had to pause the video when he pulled IOU on Grian to get myself together from how hard I laughed. Grian.exe stopped working.
I love how this server went from having a civil war to Grian finally getting the infinity gauntlet and snapping all doors away. This is really just an alternate Avengers universe where they all lost
