@@RJKookieAnother Kiwi here; I drove 33 States in '87 in one month, buying an uninsured '73 Mercury for $400, and heading East from L.A., 10,000 mile lap of the U.S. ! Since your vehicle extends past the rear axle by about 10 feet, if there is room beyond the parking space, past the curb, you can back the RV into the space(s) and have the rear part hang over the curb and try to back the RV up where the rear tires touch the curb. In large parking lots, it’s better to find an outside row and just park perpendicular to a row of them ,covering 3 or so spaces. It’s easier and people expect that , and you don’t have to do a lot of backing up that way. Also ,if you find an empty parking lot, you can practice your backing a little while no one is around. Be sure to watch for low hanging branches on trees, low overhanging roofs at gas stations and businesses, and bridges. be sure someone is outside watching for branches, tables and poles when you open the slides. Be sure there is nothing open like doors or the sleeper coach nor anything on the floors when you retract the slides. Also, WalMart sells RV supplies like your sanitation tank deodorizers to help keep the smell down. Be sure to take the kinks out of the sewage line so the water flows and there is as little left in the drainage pipe when you go to disconnect it. The sell collapsable supports that extend for the sewage pipe too. They sell surge protectors that you plug into the box that prevents any potential "electrical surges". be sure any roof vents are closed at least most of the way. Enjoy your trip! The California coast is beautiful even if it tends to be foggy because of the cold Pacific ocean.

My parents took us to Hobson every year through the 60, and 70's. They also took us to other campgrounds within Ventura County such as Faria, Carpinteria, and others. Hobson has really changed through the years. Originally the parking lot was all dirt. At one point, it started having an erosion problem and right around the time they addressed it was when they paved the camping area.
Water temp is different than the air temp you get this localized fog. Surfers love it. Your on your way up north you will start to see Spanish moss in the oaks.
This is a transcript of the weather report for Los Angeles TV stations: "Late night and early morning low clouds and fog near the coast burning off by 11." The rest of the day is either overcast or overcast mixed with smog. And then the sea breeze starts any time between 1:59pm and 2:01pm every day of the year. You need a wind breaker every afternoon.

I'm literally in the process of getting an RV and setting up starlink and everything, very cool to see it from a not as experienced RV'er perspective. This video is definitely making me excited for my own trip.
Yep. Or the opposite way, across as many spaces as necessary. Whilst leaving enough maneuvering space to get back out in the travel lane. It's far more important to not stick out into the travel lanes of a parking lot, than it is to try to conserve the parking spaces themselves.
Yeah, that gray sky is a way of life along the California coast in the summertime. The marine layer rolls in when the inland temps go up. It's especially prevalent along the Monterey Peninsula, but thanks to the California current it really helps keep the temps very nice in the summer.

Trader Joe's is related to the other chain grocery store named Aldi's. These are both owned by two German brothers who contacted Aldi's in Germany. But they had a slight falling out when one started to want to sell cigarettes and the other didn't. So they split into Aldi's North and Aldi's South. Then they opened internationally in America as Aldi's and Trader Joes as in America no two stores can have the same name. They buy and sell a limited line of goods and sell them at reasonable prices and the stores are set up to get you in and out in as quick a time as possible. For more information watch The Fat Electrician's story that I took these facts from. So cool that you spent ten weeks traveling the country.
Not totally accurate. While the German brother part is, there is NO overlap at all. Trader Joe's was started by a guy named Joe in California who sold to one of the brothers. The product lines are totally different. Even the ones that look like they are the same, are not & are made by different companies. I found that true with the meatballs. I love the TJ's Italian grilled meatballs and always have them in the freezer (great for fast dinners). Was out & shopping at Aldi's and got theirs. ICK. Not even close. They were like overspiced rubber balls. Never again!! They are similar in being more limited, but better quality, than huge Supermarkets. I haven't seen The Fat Electrician's video, but if he has the brother from Aldi's founding TJ's, hes wrong! They are my 2 fav stores, with TJ's eding out Aldi's. But love both, and love seeing this trip! PS fun fact. The Trader Joe's in my town used to house their East Coast headquarters. You could always tell who the Corporate muckity mucks were in the store lol. Then they grew too big out here & moved into Boston. Wish I had taken the opportunity to give them my opinions on them discontinuing so many items and making non-seasonal stuff seasonal LOLOL But they did it far less back then
@@ct6852 I can tell you why. They choose to pay their employees well above minimum wage, and treat them well. And having the right attitude is literally in the job description. It's why many of the same lovely people work their for years! I'll never forget after I had an unplanned, very major surgery, I FINALLY made it back in the store, after having to relearn to walk again. A bunch of the employees came running over & told me how worried they had been that I hadn't been in! One, who I had known for years, burst into tears and gave me a wonderful bear hug! I left with several bouquets of flowers as their gift, and feeling truly missed. To this day (over 4 yrs later, but with lasting mobility issues) they always help, load my car for me, and ride the scooter back. Last time I was in, the battery was dying so they had me wait, and just tell them what I wanted and several folks ran to get stuff. I could have hobbled, but would have paid in pain...I didn't even ask. BTW, I can assure you, when I finally made it back in my local supermarket, not only did no one notice, but don't think any of the employees were the same, in over a year.

I watched again to show a friend...Edward is amazing...so glad to see that man...and him thinking of those things you need is awesome...renting the car, etc...absolutely love him...great vlog... everyone that stops by has to endure me showing them your videos...they love it and thank you Edward for helping them 😊
Edward has to be the neatest guy you would ever want to meet. He is so sweet.
The best!
Remember that bump you felt was either a pothole or a Mazda.😂
Nah it was straight Colombian
I am so happy! Its like when the new season of your favorite TV show drops. I will be planning meals and snacks around your videos to maximize my viewing pleasure.🥰
Also, the unsubscribed pod cast was great! I have been watching all of them forever, and to see you on there was like icing on the cake.
Highly anticipated and worth the wait! Great job guys!!
Excited to watch this series! hope you had a stellar trip.
Glad to see you finally uploaded it! Can't wait to see the rest of your rv road trip
U guys are so brave! Glad it all turns out well!👍💪🏼
Be sure to watch for low hanging branches on trees, low overhanging roofs at gas stations and businesses, and bridges. be sure someone is outside watching for branches, tables and poles when you open the slides.
The compartments on the outside of the RV are great to store your luggage and firewood! Enjoy your trip!
This is awesome - as a long time camper in RV and tent - I'm sitting here saying Oh do this do that and I can't help and then I think - well hey they did great - they are already home! So far looks like you had a fun fun time! Can't wait for the next one!!! ❤
I am a motorcoach driver, which is 45 ft long and just so you know it is acceptable when looking for a parking spot to pull it long ways of the slots at the end of a parking lot. Also be careful at fueling stations. Be safe, have fun.
Glad to see you enjoying yourselves.
I was so excited to see this first video dropped. Your excitement was palpable. I can’t wait for the next one. Thank you for taking us along with you on this journey.
Hobson is a town?
@@ct6852 It's a beach campground in California. There is a whole string of them up and down Pacific Coast Highway 1.
That cloud coverage along the coast is called the marine layer. That's what they always called it on the local news while growing up in SoCal.
When we traveled thru New Zealand in a small camper van. Remaining on the opposite side was always a challenge! Your family is so fun to watch..enjoy your travels. Take extra time to hike and meet a few Americans! RVs are everywhere these days!
Love watching you guys! We are a family Living in the country on a cow farm in Western PA and watching you guys living the All American Dream to travel the country road of this great country. God Bless and Safe travels!
I don't know anyone who wouldn't want to join you, but I don't envy you driving in Southern California traffic. I was born and raised there. I know first hand! You got this...just remember, we drive on the right side of the road. LOL!
Not 100% sure about that... seen a lot of people on the wrong side of the road.
Learning to drive on the 'wrong' side of the road on LA freeways sounds like a nightmare.
The vibrating you were feeling is a steamroller in action. They make the earth shake something crazy.
So happy for you guys that you got to experience this. I'm also glad you've done it with your kids and have made memories that will last a lifetime. That's what it's all about!
Another crash course in driving in the states. You're all so brave. I love watching you all experience the US.😊
I’m so excited for you guys!! My family did this when I was a kid - this brings back memories!! Sam is doing great driving that monster in a foreign country - I would be freaking out trying to drive that around! I can’t wait to see each place you visit!! ✌️💚🚍🗽
Very good, glad to see you finally got it up and running.
So excited for this series. Also so happy the Fam gets to do this. It'll be a memory for life no matter what happens. Safe travels and best wishes. We'll all be praying for you.
The start off was funny as heck. I was so excited for their journey.
I'm literally in the process of getting an RV and setting up starlink and everything, very cool to see it from a not as experienced RV'er perspective. This video is definitely making me excited for my own trip.
For oversized vehicles, you should park on the side or behind the building.
Yep. Or the opposite way, across as many spaces as necessary. Whilst leaving enough maneuvering space to get back out in the travel lane. It's far more important to not stick out into the travel lanes of a parking lot, than it is to try to conserve the parking spaces themselves.
I’m so happy1 for you guys! You’re,one of my fav TH-cam families
Yeah, that gray sky is a way of life along the California coast in the summertime. The marine layer rolls in when the inland temps go up. It's especially prevalent along the Monterey Peninsula, but thanks to the California current it really helps keep the temps very nice in the summer.
don't know how you did it Sam when it came to the driving the RV. all cool, calm and collected. I would be a nerves reck. also. think you did great with the editing. 🙂👋👊
This is a great video! TH-cam- Pay them for it!!!!!!!
Wow! Such and exiciting start!! Can’t wait to see the rest of the journey! 🇺🇸🚐⛺️
Love the throwback Utah Jazz shorts @18:45 that you're wearing! Much love from your viewers in Utah!
That was my thought when I saw those shorts🎉
This is sooo exciting! RVing all 50 Something I've always wanted to do. As a person from Wyoming (least populated state), all those RV's so close together...yeah, you handled it better than I would have!
That was so cool of Edward for doing that!! So cool! 💪🇺🇸
This road trip is going to be EPIC!!! You'll see so many new and amazing things. Can't wait for future episodes!
Be safe and have a great time, I'll be watching with many smiles on my face following along with your wonderful family.
Im glad you all enjoyed our beautiful America. Be careful and love your videos ❤
I hope you’ll allow other to react to your videos.
-the best thing about camping in America is that if you’re low on supplies or need anything u can ask your neighbor and I guarantee you will will get the help you need.
You and the children will make some lifetime memories .. I hope some of them are beautiful
It's crazy watching you come to Ventura and camp at one of my fav lunch spots! My partner is the Santa Barbara Parasail Captain if you ever come back💙
They seemed preemptively excited about the Hobson Grill...then heartbroken.

But created in Pasadena, California by a California boy from San Diego,Joe Coulombe. He sold it to the German Founder of Aldi's.
And Aldi's is the best bang for the buck with Lidl being a close second.
Wish I had taken the opportunity to give them my opinions on them discontinuing so many items and making non-seasonal stuff seasonal LOLOL But they did it far less back then
Employees are usually great at Trader Joes. Not sure why. But always have a good experience there.
Atlanta representing Brooklyn! Cheers guys!
Opening with classic movie trivia! The Best!
American roadtrips is the most iconic thing anyone can do !
