I got scammed too! They posted a phone number which I responded to. I left a voice message to their number. I then received a text saying they weren’t able to process their payment because my account wasn’t set up yet. The scammer said she contacted customer service and someone would contact me to guide me through what I needed to do. I then received a text from someone posing to be a representative of Poshmark. Like you it looked very official. He said I needed to purchase a apple gift card and send him the code on the card so he could process the $200 payment to set up my accoun account. Once I did that the fake buyer sent a text saying she sent payment for my item. I then received a text from the fake poshmark rep saying I need to get another apple gift card for$1,000 to guarantee that I would ship the item since the item was listed for $700. That’s when a red flag went up for me. I checked my poshmark account and didn’t see a payment. Like you this was a real eyeopener! I was a new seller too. Thanks for sharing your experience!
I am so sorry to hear you got scammed Sheryl and thank you so sharing your story with me. I hadn’t realize they would use a phone number as well. This is good to know!
They tried the same identical scam with me also and it was one where they had you hit a link to accept offer and then had someone guiding you through as if you were really on poshmarks site and you aren't. What a shame
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this video! I totally would have sent additional photos in the spirit of "customer service" if I hadn't seen this. You're very considerate to make this video to help others avoid what you went through! I sell on Ebay a lot, so I think nothing of sending additional photos and info at customers' requests. You saved my behind!! Thank you.
@@LaurieLeonhardt-hy2jt aww thank you so much for your kind words! I know the feeling so well to want to provide good customer service. Glad I am not the only one who felt the same way. I’m happy you were able to avoid getting scammed and I wish you the best in finding a genuine person who will buy your item.
Thank you for your video. I almost got scammed. As I was chatting on the help chat it seemed ridiculous to be charged when selling. I immediately blocked my card, while verifying what was going on. Took screenshots of everything. The chat told me the card did not work and to use another one. I was lucky I thought a little faster, but I was overwhelmed with joy that I sold my first product, that rookie mistake almost cost me a lot of money. Now I am looking at videos on the "how to" process of selling before I do anything else. Thank you and I am sorry you got scammed too.
@@irisdgarciap I am so glad that you avoided getting scammed. I completely understand the feeling of selling your first item, it can definitely blind us from the red flags sometimes. I am a new seller on Poshmark and this has happened repeatedly. I did not understand why they all said the photos are blurry. I have changed my card already. Apparently I have not made any sales despite the number of scammers telling me I have! Thank you so much for this. The site itself is not clear.
@@juliaparktraceyauthor I am sorry to hear that you had to deal with this repeatedly. I completely agree that the Poshmark site is not clear. I am wishing you all the best and hope that you get a genuine buyer for your items.
Just listed my first item and have DOZENS of people adding the item to their “bundle”…whatever that means. And lots of people asking for more photos and people congratulating me on my first sale 😂 SO…do I just ignore them all and wait for the sale to actually transact?? I’m an eBay girl lol and this is totally new to me
@@brightpurpleviking thank you for your comment! As much as it’s nice that you are getting people adding your item to a bundle (which I also don’t know what that means either lol) and asking for more photos, it’s a little odd to get congratulations on a sale that hasn’t happen. I would wait for the actual transaction.
Same thing is happening to me. I’m an eBay girl but decided to start listing on Poshmark a couple of days ago. It’s a mess. I keep getting messages of people requesting more pics, adding my listing to their bundle (whatever that means) or congratulating on my sale when I haven’t sold anything and asking to copy paste a link. I’m livid
@@daisymacias5856 thank you for sharing! I am sorry that you are going through this. It's annoying to be getting messages like this and not actual customers. Definitely wait for the actual transaction.
