As someone who watched the Golden Apple mod, I would definitely recommend it. It's got a lot of content to offer. FYI: Since it's the 1.2 update, there will be even more to look forward to once the 2.0 version comes out. This is only a fraction of the final product.
To my understanding, when you open it basically it opens a flash animation with the "You are an Idiot" Text on it. If you try to close it the window Spawns six new ones. The normal form of the YouAreAnIdiot doesn't ruin or corrupt any files, by itself. But since you'll have to restart the computer or it eventually crashes, you loose all unsafed progress. In that regard it wasn't even really a Virus, since it didn't use your Computer to spread itself to other computers against your will
