- In this episode of Cartalaap - our podcast series - @GaganChoudhary and I discuss about state of automobile journalism in India and how car reviews have become more of marketing/advertorial videos. Such reviews usually sound all positive and pro manufacturers, but such a practice deceives buyers who are investing their hard-earned money after watching/reading online reviews. The idea is to let people understand the drawbacks of following people who sugar coat their reviews to please a brand.

Motoroctane is totally biased, yesterday I saw him promoting global ncap test of Japanese version. These people only do paid promotion and losses the credibility of people. We should criticise as a viewer.
Only you can trust Gagan , FASBEAM, and Autoyogi for proper knowledge and honesty. These people also do paid promotion but atleast tells you because at the end its not a problem until you're honest because you have the family to feed.
But totally biased about brand is shit.
Autocar India these are also the same just by saying in English doesn't make you authentic.
Either call yourself journalist or Ad ka adda.
Motoroctane wale Tata fanboys h. In every comparison video or the live videos that they do. You will find them recommending tata cars only. Hr price pe best tata hi h

Guys if you could do long term reviews of vehicles that would be a great idea. You can benchmark how the performance, safety etc has varied with time for various cars. This would help viewers have a parameter of Automobile brands' promises.

Munish Sharma is definitely a more sensible person compared to Sunderdeep because he has proper logical explanation and enough evidence and right sources on whatever he has spoken about but Sunderdeep is too much biased without enough evidence
In fact, he is the reason for at least 40-50 k of his subscribers
True Sunderdeep Singh is biased towards VW/Skoda/Tata.
This harm is ok than getting physically harmed in inferior cars. Glad that I am promoting superior cars. There is a difference between an auto journalist and an owner with an opinion.

Roughly year ago I asked Gagan bhai (to whom I follow from his ladakh ride on rtr180) about should I buy 1.2 manual Venue or not and he replied not that powerful but good to buy so I checked 1.0 DCT and I buyed the DCT and it stood out excellent decision.. thansk Gagan bhai..!!

Bhai hum sab bhi small creator journey se hi aaye hain. In fact Gagan ne toh start hi as an independent creator kiya hai. You got to find ways to create authentic content like Gagan has been doing for years.
90% of car reviewers are just reading script given by the company while we still have reviewers like you, that's why whenever we want to take decision on some car we wait for your video to come on that particular product. Thanks for being truthful & real in this fake era of reviewers.

I am watching Gagan Choudhary's videos from last 5 years. because he review cars very well, he covers all the points positive,negative,what are the other options in that segment. The thing i like about gagan is that while making videos he is not in hurry and very calmly reviews the cars.

In my opinion, you don’t need to change the style of review. you guys are quite good in it.
Please come with more such kind of "Cartapaap" video's with other informative topics/subjects.
.....My request is to come with "High beam and low beam" topic as a lot of public don’t know the actual use of high beam n low beam and how dangerous it is sometimes.
It's always better to know the negatives of the vehicle, at the end we buy car with our hard-earned money watching your videos (at least short list car). I don't have to roam around all the showrooms which sells cars in my price range. Keep doing what you do. I love it.

Please DO NOT let one comment change your style of reviews/criticism. I think we need to see both sides of the coin. In fact, I look for negatives to zero down on my choices and delete the obvious ones.
Sir, the top reviews by any automobile experts you included are about the new cars and their pros and cons. Why can't we expect something similar for the repair ease, cost, timeline, availability of parts at authorised service centres, etc which is model specific? We do have certain specific channels, but they only ask for word-of-mouth opinions from the customer, and this category is still not streamlined and standardised as it is for new car reviews.
You have answers to your questions in your statement only. First you can’t generalise services centres like brands (eg let’s say maruti authorised service centre from Bangalore, like mandovi might have different services than kalyani and pratahm moters) and also experience from mondvi motors from south Bangalore will definitely different from mandovi from north Bangalore even being in same district bcz of manager and technicians) and
another point is that these reviewers don’t own any vehicle as they don’t have time to utilise the vehicle so you need to believe the “ownership experience“ video but you need to differentiate in these points
1.‘is that the owner is fan boy of his car/ brand?’
2.’dose he do regularly service his vehicle?’
3. Does his service are from authorised service centre?’
4. And his driving style
And 3rd these guys (gagan bhai or yogi sir or any mainstream reviewer like from autocars, zig wheels,) are known face of these industry so if these guys try to get to contact with service centre either they gonna deny to talk or most probably *they treat them like prime minister of the country for one and half hour* in that case the experience is as useful as fork in soups. Please apply little logic to your question. Sorry if I’m offending you but you need to consider all these
@@RAXITH_playz Yes I know and agree with what you said. Perhaps, I was not able to convey properly. I was not talking about specific service centre based thing but general statistics. Anyway, thanks for reminding me of things which I already know.
Being truthful to your audience is more important because brands may come and go, cars may come and go but the person reviewing should tell it’s audience what in the box when i am buying this product. Unfortunately big brands like Autocar India, they never reach that level of actually saying what’s in the packaging rather highlighting what manufacturer said them to say, Gagan and Vikas bhai you both are doing a great job , jut like parliament Opposition is required in automotive industry as well and you both have taken the responsibility in your shoulders so that manufacturers don’t take advantage of media to sell bad products.
Your video is good not only from buyers perspective but also for makers as well cause when we as consumer point out the negative things which makes the makers work on those areas where they are lacking. Everything has a positive and a negative side of it and people should learn that. I like your videos so informative and so much learned from it.

i think you should review of a long time review with a customer real life experience, because the real story starts once the car start to run more............and that is where the real "REVIEW" means for viewer who is watching you to understand any product for long time.
Must needed video for those who actually want to know and understand the automobile sector and want to know how things work in the market.

If you dig through old videos of DDSRavi, you will find one in which this guy has come with his family to share their experience. Maybe he was inspired too much. Anyway, I think they belong to the Chapri section of reviewers. BTW nice username; it looks like Govt channel 😂

A few months ago I saw comparison video between Citroen c3 aircross and Honda elevate by a very famous car reviewer (cough* guru ji) and I’m not saying anything but you guys can check the comments on that video😅 The wordings, the body language and everything about that video was screaming to me “Yup, the french must’ve paid good money 😜”
Review is not -- telling how many cup holders are there in a 15L+ car. Frankly, no one cares about these 😊

Everything about a product should be explained and the decision should be made basis critical evaluation. Pros and cons should be weighed against each other. I always rely on your videos before making a purchase. Amazing video! Have fun.
I have a suggestion for you regarding your reviews. I've noticed that most brands offer higher segment cars for product reviews. It would be beneficial to review variants that are more commonly purchased by people, such as the second or third last products in the lineup. These variants often strike a balance between features and price, which is what many buyers look for. Reviewing these variants would be more helpful for car buyers because they represent what most people are likely to consider. When only high-end models are reviewed, basic features that are important in lower segments might be missing, making the review less relevant for a wider audience.

@ICN_Studio I think aaj tak har company ke serious negetives ki baat ho chuki hai except Hyundai, jo ki hai suspention, across the range sab se worst suspention ate hai hyundai me, unhone bouncy ness kam karne ke liye travel hi kam kar diya so 5 people can not ride comfortably, aur sirf ye ek negetive ko face kar de to hyundai सर्व गुण संपन्न ban jayegi.

Great Video! Can you please make a video on, What all features are non-negotiable in 2024. For example, Safety I think should not be an option in 2024( All car companies should be at a level playing field which is a high safety level wherein customers should not be thinking of which is a safer car). 2nd thing should be reliability. ( If Air conditioners can come with a 10 year warranty, Why do you have to chose between car brands because one brand gives 3years or 5 year warranty, 2nd one gives 10 year warranty, when buying a car which will be the 2nd most expensive purchase in a person's life).

@autoyogi The definition of review starts with a checklist. If you can incorporate that in your content and establish that context when explaining features or quality, that will make things more interesting.
How big is the money being offered to do a promote a subtle agenda of a certain brand??
