yea which is what alot of people arent understanding because they are too obsessed with gear score when in reality its not as important as the actual stats. even as endgame player those pieces are usable. the counter set is literally for ml landy so instead of farming counter gear for months to end up with comparable counter gear just spend $30 lol
I'm not really a speed chaser, but yeah. I think my fastest ring is indeed 17... and that was from the "forget you gear" event lmao. It's not getting you into emporer, but having a 290 SPD ran on month 1 of the game definitely feels a bit p2w. And not necessarily in a healthy way IMO. they try to improve their ran or build anything else and months later they are disappointted their gear pack is still the best gear on their account after months, or over a year of grind. I'd be frustrated, and it's not like gear rolls aren't the most controversial aspect of E7 to begin with.
It's not about that this exact gear is pay to win. It's obviously not. Sure, spd-eff set is very good for units like DDR, Solitaria or Sharun and spd-cc gear is a great set for say Straze, ML Laika or Kise, but the point is not about this gear is useful or not, the point is about setting a precedent. And selling good gear for $$$ is a VERY concerning precedent. What if next month they decide to sell the kind of gear we constructed ourselves, with five upgrades, for let's say 20$ apiece. Would this be not pay to win as well? And then it would be too late to complain. It's basically the same as was adding abilities to memory imprints. It wasn't that bad on Krau, or Ravi, or whatever, but everyone knew that this was just a beginning of much worse things being done. And honestly - I don't think there is a difference. The fact that this exact gear is not that special doesn't change the fact that selling +15 premade gear for $$$ is an insanely bad idea.
i do think that this gear not only targets newer players but also those like me who have been playing for a while (3 years for me) and are lazy about running hunts, rifts, or basically just run the game all day to progress. like for example my guild hovers around top 100 in guild war and i always do my attacks early in the morning because i get absolutely demolished when i try to attack the bigger towers and it's a way for me to get my wins buying some of those sets would probably make me more confident/efficient in guildwar if for some reason i can't do my attacks in the morning as well as letting other people of my guild enjoy those easier attacks idk if i'm gonna buy them yet but we'll see
For new players that wanna jump start it’s pretty cool. even me who’s been playing for 2ish years, I bought the pack so I could build an extra opener because while I do have for example a 310 ran and 290 solitis; some pieces from the pack help supplement an extra opener like nak from being like 240 to 260. It’s doesn’t make me have like a 300 nak but it’s still fun to be able to use her without having to jumble my equipment from one character to another. It makes the game…more fun…for me. Building is characters is fun even if they’re not gonna be competitively used in my RTA matches, of course everyone has different ways of having fun so they might not see the same value. I definitely do agree tho it’s not making my rta openers any faster so these packs don’t do anything for late game players
I played from almost the start and then stopped playing about 2 years ago, came back for wukong and I've bought these sets, and ngl they are my best sets now lol even though I played for a long time before quitting my gear luck in these sorts of games is absolutely terrible... so I appreciate anything like this to help someone like me out!
You can buy skystones with money too. Not that I hate the packs, because I don't lol... just saying people would immediately yell that they are trying to make people buy skystones.

For me, it's absolutely fantastic. I'm champ arena and rta boundary emp. Truly value gears 🤷🏻♂️ that effectiveness 17 spd ring is actually usable. I only have like 1 effectiveness 21 spd ring and next one is already 16 spd only. Thats usable like a ton, I purchased it from the get go no hesitation. Reddit just being reddit thinking they know everything or think everything about them is right 🤷🏻♂️😭
ive been playing for 10 months and i agree that it greatly helps early game players. my late game friends say you can roll better gears in the future or soon so if you dont wanna buy it then pretend you never saw it, just sharing :>
this gear is usable by 99% of players for sure, it doesnt need to be 20+ speed to be usable, i have 120+ chars built this gear would go to one of my top geared heroes
9:20 Yeah, I completely agree with you. Gear aquisition is the worst part. Worst part year 1, worst part year 5. Worst part in any game that copies E7's gear system (except Artery Gear, because the RNG is mostly replaced with resource timegates). But I feel the changes are more about giving players more dice to roll instead of giving more ways to reach that gear ceiling. reseting gear doesn't mean the gear rolls better and can only be done 5 times. Gear crafting event can still brick. The forget your own gear event is great but only comes around maybe once a year. Is it better for me to just drop the game and come back every year instead of trying to grind? No, but it can feel that way some days. Some 20 SPD piece you rolled year 1 reforges into 24 SPD and can still be the best piece on your account 4 years later. I'm not sure if that's a good thing in my eyes. The progression curve at endgame just peters out, and it's up to RNG to boost you to the next level (or coping like me and accepting a turn 2 playstyle). This gear doesn't really change that curve but suggests that this may be their "solution". Wihch doesn't sit right with me. Basically, if they made getting good gear more consistent I wouldn't mind them selling progression to newer or less grindy players.
I feel this is whiteknighting. Saying it's a net positive is insane - this is fairly alright, has its pros and cons. If they do this occasionally like twice a year fine. However what if they are testing waters? 17 speed for 30 bucks, then 20 speed for 50 bucks, then 25 speed for 100 bucks and they stop when they face a huge outrage. If not a higher speed piece, then maybe this might turn into a monthly thing...gearing an abundance of sidelined characters with this quality of a gear is borderline broken.
As an emp player, this gear does fk all for me i dust all gears below 90gs , I aint debuffing anyone with 170eff thats cope, 270+ speed is snail over there😂. This could only help u put some gear for ur units to get master.. for that free skin. 100% with you trist on this, reddit just likes to bitch about everything
TBH thxs to the speed hit set gear made me build 3 units way easier (they arent as good as they could be) those packs can make a big difference to people that want to start playing rta but they cant becuse they still dont have enough gear to build a lot of units. I dont feel like they are p2w in any way since 17 speed (max speed a pack has) can be "easily" farmed it just takes time, the problem would be if the pieces were 20 or more since that kind of speed could literally make u go from gold to challenger (master at least) in which case it would pretty much be p2w. the difference in how much time it takes to get a 17 speed piece and 20 is so big that it would literally be a massive advantage in lower ranks.
just coz is not best gear for 0,1% of players that doesnt mean is not broken gear though, you cant just compare every gear to 0,1% of players, is very fair to say that is very p2w especially when u can play from day 1 and theres some gear better than what u have or atleast still very very usable, you still need tons of geared chars, not only 20+ speed gear is the one u use in RTA even on highest lvl

it's good gear for new players, it's really hard for a new player to gear up units they should do more stuff like that...free stuff and cheap p2w packs with gear like this so new players can catch up faster
There are 300 unique characters. Even for endgame players (I have played since day 1), this gear helps build out 5 more units which adds depth to an already deep roster. Necessary, nah. Nice, absolutely - spent a lot more to get a lot less in this game.
yeah theyre gonna pull out their fire khawana now with these packs. be real end game players could gear every char in they own just some chars are useless
the biggest problem with this game is that its a pvp game that has barely no catch up mechanics compared to other gacha games. this is a good chance to keep new players in the game and make the game grow. its the same thing with the imprint drama. they stomped them out and made them get rid of it and complained when the game was dead for months. (i also didnt like the imprint changes)
I bought the speed/hit set just because a 17 speed effectiveness ring is extremely hard to come by. Took my Nahkwol from 250~ speed to 270~ speed. Also have enough gear to build another 260-270 speed unit. The other sets are good for new players, and thats it. mid game/late game players shouldnt feel any pressure to buy these sets, because the gear is mid at best. People on reddit just like to complain, there is a very loud vocal minority on reddit, also on stove tbh.
The amount of time it would take me to get five 17 speed pieces and it’s just right there for $30 pre rolled…I still don’t have a speed set chest piece that’s above 15 speed lmao.
Most players are playing in the tier where those gears are considered op already, not everyone play end game so its definitely p2w. And this turns the ones who can't spend into ghosters which is already good for the game.

I've had to explain so many times how making good sets available to all players is a net positive for the entire community. I wish these gear sets were once per account and a permanent purchase option and not tied to the event. I'm really happy to have such an influential member of the community speaking sense. I'm not buying these on my main but I'm strongly considering the 15 and 17 speed sets for my 18th month old alt which is still f2p.
These gear packs are absolutely NOT P2W. I am not a whale, but I generally don't even keep gear unless it enhances to GS 93 or higher. So like... GS 88 is maybe a slight upgrade for my PVE farming units?... It's certainly not going on anything that's used in PVP. The one exception is that speed/hit pack. That had legitimate upgrades for some of my characters.
You say it is not p2w because most people have better gear than that. Does not change the fact that you spend money and you get power which is a definition of p2w. You also say that while asking chat that the gear is not that strong because it is only 17 speed and most people in emperor have better gear than that. Well I've been playing since luna's 1st release with some off time here and there and to this day I only have 1 set with 15-16 speed on them which is my fastest set. Now I could have just skipped the whole grind that I did for months if I pay $30. How is that not p2w? I hope you will say the same when they release 30 speed gear with all max stats because if people buy them and 'most people have them' then it's not p2w right?
I agree with you that this is P2W....except it's just skip steps to tackle more advanced content earlier. Most players will coast on challenger/master in arena, a lot of people dont touch RTA unless a event it's going on, and PVE it's more about tunning units to go in the right order (which this gear makes MORE EASY, but can be done without) If they sell that OP gear you're mentioning? I will toss bricks alongside you, but getting mad at the gacha for....trying to make money in a (FOR NOW) reasonable way it's not excuse to send another truck at SmileGate. And this cash grabbing method it's ABSOLUTELY TAME when stuff like Summer Luluca happened last year.
Sounds like a massive skill issue if you're a long term player that doesnt have significantly better gear than that. You're either not actually grinding for gear, or you have no idea how to roll your pieces and either overinvest in junk or throw away like half the pieces you should check...
Not to pile on the guy but yeah, to have that little speed after playing for so long is either in the extreme of extremes of bad luck or you just don't play the game/farm enough/know how to roll gear. Hand over that account to any half savvy late game player and they can roll a 20 speeder or near in a reasonable amount of time.
Buying gear is always pay to win. You pull for any hero but you don't have good gear is still way better. The game is about grinding gear. Just my opinion.
It’s more a Pay to Advance than Pay to Win. If you lose to a unit with average 88 gs, your gear is not the problem but your draft and game knowledge are. So stop whining, learn the game more bud. But if they start selling higher GS with higher price then it will become a problem.
The main problem is not the packs because the pack are NOT P2W they are P2F (PAY TO FAST) wich is really good for average new player experience aka try the game for two days , one week or even two weeks ; but the main issue is how E7 is going now if they want to make money is not 100% need to do broken characters or sell packs ; much games have constant content , skins , event , Secondaries storyes even good feedback with the comunity doing small event , E7 is trying to add more players to the game and that really good even with the P2F packs and the more "Spicy" Designs but we didnt have the 70 summons event or the craft piece event (who are the two mains event to atract new players into the game) they even give Cerise a skin after the Summer Event wich is a bad desicion if you want to sell the skin , the new EEs are crazy good but they dpnt even release Hall of Trials maybe for a issue or something but if that is the case dont show the EEs if you dont even open that ; also the Balance Patch is really good they buff Pve content but why dont do more then 10 balance each patch? 10 for pve and 10 for PvP , new player gonna change Aither for Angelica ASAP as the YT video say but a "Balance" Patch incluide also Nerf and for thr begining of the year we didnt see a single nerf in the broken units and korean with china server are asking a LOT nerf but they dont listen , im repeat is not bad but THE WAY they are going is bad because they dont have idea how to change the game without affecting one part (casual or competitive) , im prefer 3 mothns without units but with more events to get rewards for both side instead of 3 months of full grinding to reach Empeor before the week end to have my free SS and then summon the counter of the last banner they release or grind to do Rift because is the easy way to get more gear per energy , let say the true after ZZZ release there is no way E7 reach more then 2M o 3M even with MLuna release of pack and now Nikke got his Summer event, WuWa will get and update soon , HSR will get another event Azur Lane too , and Valorant will make more money with Æspa collab then E7 and thats a huge and chill way to say it ; is not hate just an opinion based of playing that games for my perspective.
My issue with those packs isn't that I believe they are pay to win in the sense that those will turn you into the top 1%, my issue is that I don't believe they have actually improved the gear grind in any meaningful way so it does feel like they should be addressing that first instead of selling already rolled awesome gear. It doesn't matter that much if they improve a little how much random gear you get until they actually start tweaking the root of the problem, which is how bad the RNG is. In my opinion, E7 player base is divided between those that are lucky and those that aren't, and also between those that believe in the gambler's fallacy and those that don't. It's easy to see who's who when you see the comments of people saying it's a matter of skill or time. It's not. I mean, of course, if you don't learn good practices for rolling gear or don't play much your chances of getting good gear are even worse but it most definitely doesn't guarantee you are getting top tier gear, not even close. When you get down to numbers and see how difficult is gearing one character you'll see that, sure, it isn't "lottery-bad" but it is really bad. And it's all extra... bad? hilarious? ridiculous?... when you see they want to push this as an e-sport. Personally, imho, Nightmare Lab is really the only good system in place actually improving the gear grind but it's not enough.
It’s bad, I’ve been playing since late 2018 and I’ve rolled a couple of thousand gear pieces it’s a 1 in 1024 chance for a piece to roll on the same substat 5 times in a row then it rolls a 1-4 bonus to speed 5 exists but apparently not for me, and it’s weighted towards the 1 side. I have rolled a piece at 24 (90) speed once and have 2 at 19, literally every other piece of speed gear is 14 to 16 max it’s kinda dumb to get a perfect piece it’s like 1/3,200,000 chance
Absolute W for the game community. As a new player, week 3 now, few gear packs make the entire games pve content instantly available. I’m not suddenly able to dominate rta or even do well, but I don’t feel hopeless and years behind. The gearing system in any game has to constantly change or newer players will never lessen the gap.
The problem isn't the set "p2w", the problem is SG want to set a base for their future plan, rightnow it's just "bad" 17spd gear, when they can get away with directly selling gear in the shop, only god knows how far will SG pushes this, 90$ for 20spd set or 120$ for 22spd set? This is the same as DLC in games, it started with a 5$ horse armor now we're seeing 80$DLC on a 49$ game.

I think that the sheer fact that they know they can sell this and/ or that the community find this conterversal is a big statement on the current state of gearing units in general which i rather that got address than putting it in the shop. Secondly i think that you have already the wrong mindset think that this is between the newe players and the people at the top of the charts. to me it's the new players vs the mid game players. the new player get power to jump to champion where the mid gameplayers are struggling to climb throuygh one way or the other. 293 speed unit may be slow for you but could be fater than any of their units for a chalenger player. now the question is how soes this player take it? I see two ways this person can take it. 1. the say fucking finaly and buy it of the cuff and move on. the other is they feel like thier grind for this gear over x amount of years has been deemed worthless and they feel stupid for it making a quit moment because to them, at this point, the gmae has become pay to win and their time in the game has been wasted. what do they have for staying consistent with the game for a year that a new player doesn't with these packs. the time has been comodified and made irrelevent . i find no fault in either ideology i just depends of where you are un the marathon called epic seven.
My opinion: This gear is fine to be sold except for the 17 speed pieces. That's a little too much. I would set the limit at 15 speed at what I'm comfortable with exisiting as purchases. And to your argument that it won't improve lategame players accounts. On stream you showed your effectiveness rings and you had like 5 with more speed. That means your 6th priority effectiveness speed char gets an improvement. There are over 300 characters in the game, way more then 5 fit that role. It would improve your account. And I would guess you are under the top 1000 accounts with the best gear. The 17 speed gear improves pretty much everyones account. I don't like it, but it's out now and no way to turn it back. Let's hope that this is the peak of speed gear and won't powercreep like the units that are released.
This would be basically the best spd I would have in my account, lol. And I play this game for more than 2 years. It would fix units, even give me a decent opener. But the real deal I guess is instead of improving the systems to roll/upgrade, they decided to "sell fixes". The infamous "testing the waters".
If catch up is an issue, why dont just make every gear the same stats and everyone on even field... well its because thats not the reason people play the game, if people wanna play a fair PvP game they go play League or other games made for that, gear was one of the few things you cant just p2w and buy the gear directly but now not anymore and i dont see why would stop here and why would they stop at 17 speed? this gear is already very good for 99% players and even top 100 RTA players aka 0,01% of players still gonna use this to build their 2nd or 3rd or 4th opener etc

Some 20 SPD piece you rolled year 1 reforges into 24 SPD and can still be the best piece on your account 4 years later. I'm not sure if that's a good thing in my eyes. The progression curve at endgame just peters out, and it's up to RNG to boost you to the next level (or coping like me and accepting a turn 2 playstyle). This gear doesn't really change that curve but suggests that this may be their "solution". Wihch doesn't sit right with me.
Basically, if they made getting good gear more consistent I wouldn't mind them selling progression to newer or less grindy players.
I play this for roughly a year now. And holy shit that gear was sooo impactfull for me.
I feel this is whiteknighting. Saying it's a net positive is insane - this is fairly alright, has its pros and cons. If they do this occasionally like twice a year fine. However what if they are testing waters? 17 speed for 30 bucks, then 20 speed for 50 bucks, then 25 speed for 100 bucks and they stop when they face a huge outrage. If not a higher speed piece, then maybe this might turn into a monthly thing...gearing an abundance of sidelined characters with this quality of a gear is borderline broken.
As an emp player, this gear does fk all for me i dust all gears below 90gs , I aint debuffing anyone with 170eff thats cope, 270+ speed is snail over there😂. This could only help u put some gear for ur units to get master.. for that free skin. 100% with you trist on this, reddit just likes to bitch about everything
TBH thxs to the speed hit set gear made me build 3 units way easier (they arent as good as they could be) those packs can make a big difference to people that want to start playing rta but they cant becuse they still dont have enough gear to build a lot of units. I dont feel like they are p2w in any way since 17 speed (max speed a pack has) can be "easily" farmed it just takes time, the problem would be if the pieces were 20 or more since that kind of speed could literally make u go from gold to challenger (master at least) in which case it would pretty much be p2w. the difference in how much time it takes to get a 17 speed piece and 20 is so big that it would literally be a massive advantage in lower ranks.
just coz is not best gear for 0,1% of players that doesnt mean is not broken gear though, you cant just compare every gear to 0,1% of players, is very fair to say that is very p2w especially when u can play from day 1 and theres some gear better than what u have or atleast still very very usable, you still need tons of geared chars, not only 20+ speed gear is the one u use in RTA even on highest lvl

it's good gear for new players, it's really hard for a new player to gear up units they should do more stuff like that...free stuff and cheap p2w packs with gear like this so new players can catch up faster
There are 300 unique characters. Even for endgame players (I have played since day 1), this gear helps build out 5 more units which adds depth to an already deep roster. Necessary, nah. Nice, absolutely - spent a lot more to get a lot less in this game.

Considering i get shit luck on speed rolls that 17 speed hit set is a decent bonus for me, but everything else is passable.
the biggest problem with this game is that its a pvp game that has barely no catch up mechanics compared to other gacha games. this is a good chance to keep new players in the game and make the game grow.
its the same thing with the imprint drama. they stomped them out and made them get rid of it and complained when the game was dead for months. (i also didnt like the imprint changes)
I bought the speed/hit set just because a 17 speed effectiveness ring is extremely hard to come by. Took my Nahkwol from 250~ speed to 270~ speed. Also have enough gear to build another 260-270 speed unit. The other sets are good for new players, and thats it. mid game/late game players shouldnt feel any pressure to buy these sets, because the gear is mid at best. People on reddit just like to complain, there is a very loud vocal minority on reddit, also on stove tbh.
The amount of time it would take me to get five 17 speed pieces and it’s just right there for $30 pre rolled…I still don’t have a speed set chest piece that’s above 15 speed lmao.
Most players are playing in the tier where those gears are considered op already, not everyone play end game so its definitely p2w. And this turns the ones who can't spend into ghosters which is already good for the game.

I've had to explain so many times how making good sets available to all players is a net positive for the entire community. I wish these gear sets were once per account and a permanent purchase option and not tied to the event. I'm really happy to have such an influential member of the community speaking sense. I'm not buying these on my main but I'm strongly considering the 15 and 17 speed sets for my 18th month old alt which is still f2p.

These gear packs are absolutely NOT P2W. I am not a whale, but I generally don't even keep gear unless it enhances to GS 93 or higher. So like... GS 88 is maybe a slight upgrade for my PVE farming units?... It's certainly not going on anything that's used in PVP.
The one exception is that speed/hit pack. That had legitimate upgrades for some of my characters.
You say it is not p2w because most people have better gear than that. Does not change the fact that you spend money and you get power which is a definition of p2w.
You also say that while asking chat that the gear is not that strong because it is only 17 speed and most people in emperor have better gear than that. Well I've been playing since luna's 1st release with some off time here and there and to this day I only have 1 set with 15-16 speed on them which is my fastest set. Now I could have just skipped the whole grind that I did for months if I pay $30. How is that not p2w? I hope you will say the same when they release 30 speed gear with all max stats because if people buy them and 'most people have them' then it's not p2w right?
I agree with you that this is P2W....except it's just skip steps to tackle more advanced content earlier.
Most players will coast on challenger/master in arena, a lot of people dont touch RTA unless a event it's going on, and PVE it's more about tunning units to go in the right order (which this gear makes MORE EASY, but can be done without)
If they sell that OP gear you're mentioning? I will toss bricks alongside you, but getting mad at the gacha for....trying to make money in a (FOR NOW) reasonable way it's not excuse to send another truck at SmileGate.

Sounds like a massive skill issue if you're a long term player that doesnt have significantly better gear than that. You're either not actually grinding for gear, or you have no idea how to roll your pieces and either overinvest in junk or throw away like half the pieces you should check...

Not to pile on the guy but yeah, to have that little speed after playing for so long is either in the extreme of extremes of bad luck or you just don't play the game/farm enough/know how to roll gear. Hand over that account to any half savvy late game player and they can roll a 20 speeder or near in a reasonable amount of time.
Buying gear is always pay to win. You pull for any hero but you don't have good gear is still way better. The game is about grinding gear. Just my opinion.

It’s more a Pay to Advance than Pay to Win. If you lose to a unit with average 88 gs, your gear is not the problem but your draft and game knowledge are. So stop whining, learn the game more bud.
But if they start selling higher GS with higher price then it will become a problem.
The main problem is not the packs because the pack are NOT P2W they are P2F (PAY TO FAST) wich is really good for average new player experience aka try the game for two days , one week or even two weeks ; but the main issue is how E7 is going now if they want to make money is not 100% need to do broken characters or sell packs ; much games have constant content , skins , event , Secondaries storyes even good feedback with the comunity doing small event , E7 is trying to add more players to the game and that really good even with the P2F packs and the more "Spicy" Designs but we didnt have the 70 summons event or the craft piece event (who are the two mains event to atract new players into the game) they even give Cerise a skin after the Summer Event wich is a bad desicion if you want to sell the skin , the new EEs are crazy good but they dpnt even release Hall of Trials maybe for a issue or something but if that is the case dont show the EEs if you dont even open that ; also the Balance Patch is really good they buff Pve content but why dont do more then 10 balance each patch? 10 for pve and 10 for PvP , new player gonna change Aither for Angelica ASAP as the YT video say but a "Balance" Patch incluide also Nerf and for thr begining of the year we didnt see a single nerf in the broken units and korean with china server are asking a LOT nerf but they dont listen , im repeat is not bad but THE WAY they are going is bad because they dont have idea how to change the game without affecting one part (casual or competitive) , im prefer 3 mothns without units but with more events to get rewards for both side instead of 3 months of full grinding to reach Empeor before the week end to have my free SS and then summon the counter of the last banner they release or grind to do Rift because is the easy way to get more gear per energy , let say the true after ZZZ release there is no way E7 reach more then 2M o 3M even with MLuna release of pack and now Nikke got his Summer event, WuWa will get and update soon , HSR will get another event Azur Lane too , and Valorant will make more money with Æspa collab then E7 and thats a huge and chill way to say it ; is not hate just an opinion based of playing that games for my perspective.

My issue with those packs isn't that I believe they are pay to win in the sense that those will turn you into the top 1%, my issue is that I don't believe they have actually improved the gear grind in any meaningful way so it does feel like they should be addressing that first instead of selling already rolled awesome gear. It doesn't matter that much if they improve a little how much random gear you get until they actually start tweaking the root of the problem, which is how bad the RNG is. In my opinion, E7 player base is divided between those that are lucky and those that aren't, and also between those that believe in the gambler's fallacy and those that don't.
It's easy to see who's who when you see the comments of people saying it's a matter of skill or time. It's not. I mean, of course, if you don't learn good practices for rolling gear or don't play much your chances of getting good gear are even worse but it most definitely doesn't guarantee you are getting top tier gear, not even close. When you get down to numbers and see how difficult is gearing one character you'll see that, sure, it isn't "lottery-bad" but it is really bad. And it's all extra... bad? hilarious? ridiculous?... when you see they want to push this as an e-sport.
Personally, imho, Nightmare Lab is really the only good system in place actually improving the gear grind but it's not enough.
It’s bad, I’ve been playing since late 2018 and I’ve rolled a couple of thousand gear pieces it’s a 1 in 1024 chance for a piece to roll on the same substat 5 times in a row then it rolls a 1-4 bonus to speed 5 exists but apparently not for me, and it’s weighted towards the 1 side. I have rolled a piece at 24 (90) speed once and have 2 at 19, literally every other piece of speed gear is 14 to 16 max it’s kinda dumb to get a perfect piece it’s like 1/3,200,000 chance
Absolute W for the game community. As a new player, week 3 now, few gear packs make the entire games pve content instantly available. I’m not suddenly able to dominate rta or even do well, but I don’t feel hopeless and years behind.
The gearing system in any game has to constantly change or newer players will never lessen the gap.

Price is too high, I would pay 10 per set to gear some side units but 30 is too high imo
The problem isn't the set "p2w", the problem is SG want to set a base for their future plan, rightnow it's just "bad" 17spd gear, when they can get away with directly selling gear in the shop, only god knows how far will SG pushes this, 90$ for 20spd set or 120$ for 22spd set? This is the same as DLC in games, it started with a 5$ horse armor now we're seeing 80$DLC on a 49$ game.

I think that the sheer fact that they know they can sell this and/ or that the community find this conterversal is a big statement on the current state of gearing units in general which i rather that got address than putting it in the shop.
Secondly i think that you have already the wrong mindset think that this is between the newe players and the people at the top of the charts. to me it's the new players vs the mid game players. the new player get power to jump to champion where the mid gameplayers are struggling to climb throuygh one way or the other. 293 speed unit may be slow for you but could be fater than any of their units for a chalenger player. now the question is how soes this player take it? I see two ways this person can take it. 1. the say fucking finaly and buy it of the cuff and move on. the other is they feel like thier grind for this gear over x amount of years has been deemed worthless and they feel stupid for it making a quit moment because to them, at this point, the gmae has become pay to win and their time in the game has been wasted. what do they have for staying consistent with the game for a year that a new player doesn't with these packs. the time has been comodified and made irrelevent . i find no fault in either ideology i just depends of where you are un the marathon called epic seven.
My opinion: This gear is fine to be sold except for the 17 speed pieces. That's a little too much. I would set the limit at 15 speed at what I'm comfortable with exisiting as purchases.
And to your argument that it won't improve lategame players accounts. On stream you showed your effectiveness rings and you had like 5 with more speed. That means your 6th priority effectiveness speed char gets an improvement. There are over 300 characters in the game, way more then 5 fit that role. It would improve your account. And I would guess you are under the top 1000 accounts with the best gear. The 17 speed gear improves pretty much everyones account.
I don't like it, but it's out now and no way to turn it back. Let's hope that this is the peak of speed gear and won't powercreep like the units that are released.

If catch up is an issue, why dont just make every gear the same stats and everyone on even field... well its because thats not the reason people play the game, if people wanna play a fair PvP game they go play League or other games made for that, gear was one of the few things you cant just p2w and buy the gear directly but now not anymore and i dont see why would stop here and why would they stop at 17 speed? this gear is already very good for 99% players and even top 100 RTA players aka 0,01% of players still gonna use this to build their 2nd or 3rd or 4th opener etc
