Only thing cooler than that might be a cab with air conditioning for a zero turn mower, which they have. It would also be nice if the fan was variable speed switch. I suppose once in a while you would have to blow off the dust but that's the way to go.
Hey Josh, how are you doing. It seems like it found is somewhat on the noisy side but I guess with the tractor running it kind of drowns that out. I have to say that, in my opinion, your high recommendation of a product that is double the price of their most expensive competitor, for what is essentially a single speed fan in difference, is changing my overall view of your channel. Your recommendation that a $1200 canopy with a built-in fan as an essential & worthwhile tool to purchase for every piece of compatible equipment a Homesteader owns is reason for me to second guess any equipment recommendations you make. Or, at the very least, shows a disconnect between what you propagate through your channel & what I look for from enthusiast content producers such as yourself. I seek creative & innovative solutions that will help me achieve my property development & management goals in fiscally responsible ways. This video shows me that, quite simply, I can't trust the tools you recommend as being an effective, efficient, & worthwhile investment for me as a consumer. Great concept. Too expensive for what it is. Not to mention the product website has significant room for improvement & is missing the information that customers are actually looking for - pricing & product access. Maybe this will get better as they are able to scale down the price (significantly) & with better innovations - like multiple speed settings, dash-mounted controls, & integration with ignition-based power availability. I'd also like to see a quick attach system for road travel removal or stowage. Anything to justify the high price. Right now it just feels like gouging.
If you can't afford one...just don't get one buddy...but price yourself a standard canopy at your local tractor dealership and you'll find the cool top is a great value. Not sure what else to say.......but keeping the sun and dust off ya and staying cool is pretty nice. If it's worth it to you...get one..if not...then don't but if you call kubota, deere or agco and order a canopy for your tractor it will be comparably priced...without a fan
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer that's not true. I did price shop before commenting. The most expensive aftermarket canopy I could find was $599. No fan, but the price difference doesn't justify that being what appears to be the only major difference. I also never said I "had" to get one, I stated my trust in you as an advocate to property owners looking for great advice on ways to work our property through tools, tips, shared experiences, etc had been alerted as a result of this video & your support & pushing of a product that is so expensive. I get the need to keep sun & dust off, & bugs away too! Recommending what is essentially a $600 canopy paired with a $600 fan mounted to it just seems like the wrong approach. Thanks for what you do, your time, your energy, & your passion. Your videos have helped me a lot. This one just left me scratching my head.
Purchased mine from Good Works Tractors / Rhinohide for $419 (of course no fan). I only see the fan as a benefit of you are stationary using the backhoe. Other than that, you’re moving creating a breeze. And don’t want field dust blowing down on me. It’s over priced for what it “provides”. The average farmer doesn’t have a company to come sponsor a video and install them at a discount or free or provide kickbacks for purchase made from the video links. This comment has validity to it. Majority of farmers and workers are looking for tools and accessories that benefit them without costing a fortune. Would prefer to see videos that help the homesteader and farmers save money and save on costs of goods. Be blessed
Your local ventrac dealer might sell you a cool top, but it's not something that's offered through Ventrac according to my sources...and I've been to the factory 3 times my brother
@@dalebargen Ventrac downdraft fan system pulls air up and down from the inside. That is where your heat, dust and bugs come. Cool Top pulls fresh air from the top of the canopy. It's an inferior product.
Josh why can’t you hook that up to your ignition so when you turn the key on the fan works otherwise you could forget the fan and run the battery down.
You might need to run it through a relay because it takes 10 A so you could run it through the relay and then the run the switch through the ignition for the relay got it!?
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Yes the older Ventrac tops were brittle. Hopefully their new one is more durable. Undoubtedly more expensive than the one you installed!
That is a thought that I hadn't considered, I am thinking like you that dust could be drawn in and then down on the operator, I guess a man wouldn't know until he tried it.
Absolutely, if you are mowing in less than ideal conditions, the real world, you’ll literally be getting dust blown on you the entire time. Like big time dust shower

Josh i am on the same page of Farmhand here but i would also like to know what are my options for round rops? My exmark has round for some odd reason and my issue here is with the topper i have now bouncing down towards my head. I took it off and installed a thick rubber joint for the plate with hopes it would stop the topper from coming down on my head but it still happens.
@@terrypritchard353 Please share details? I bought my exmark and added the this expensive top from the dealer but it keeps dropping low hitting my head when im cutting my bumpy yard
I look at this, and my first thought is, why didn't someone think of this before? Using the airflow to keep bugs down is reason enough. Although I wonder how well it holds up in dusty conditions, and can the fan be just hosed off
Yeah, so it was designed to provide freah air to the operator blowing away bugs and dust. It is a seal fan that can take rain. Everything has a 2 year warranty against manufacturing defects.
Really cool , However i would think that the unit should be wired into the the ignition switch. you might forget to shut it down after using the tractor.
@@johnnyappleseed9254 Lol, very true but I’ve experienced parasitic draw on similar wiring hookups that end up draining the battery. They’re trying to keep it simple but an ignition connection is just as easy and would eliminate even the remote possibility of battery drawdown when parked.

The ROI on this is being cool and comforatable on your machine...thus being more productive...and the skin cancer risk is totally decreased as you are sitting in the shade instead of expsosed out in the sun my friend. @@StoneyRidgeFarmer somewhat agree and disagree brother. For me, 99% of the time my tractor/mower is in motion. If I was stationary or using the backhoe, then most definitely! As for vacations, if done correctly, there truly is an ROI. Not cash ROI, but the return is you are more relaxed, reenergized and have made amazing memories. Just don’t go where the other million crazies are. Lol.
Be blessed
Ventrac already offers a roof with a downdraft fan.
Your local ventrac dealer might sell you a cool top, but it's not something that's offered through Ventrac according to my sources...and I've been to the factory 3 times my brother
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Yes it is. It’s a fairly new item. They have a video on the introduction I think last fall.
@@dalebargen Ventrac downdraft fan system pulls air up and down from the inside. That is where your heat, dust and bugs come. Cool Top pulls fresh air from the top of the canopy. It's an inferior product.
@@terrypritchard353 Thanks! Good to know!
@@terrypritchard353 Do you know how flexible the Cool Tops are if you nudge a low branch while mowing?
Josh, where did you get the LED lights on the Zero turn?
it's a toro option
Thats really is cool I missed, is it a up or down draft?
Yes pulls fresh air from the top.
Stylin
Josh why can’t you hook that up to your ignition so when you turn the key on the fan works otherwise you could forget the fan and run the battery down.
yep...you could do that if you want, but the same could be said for leaving the key on...I know I've done that many times on my old Massey
You might need to run it through a relay because it takes 10 A so you could run it through the relay and then the run the switch through the ignition for the relay got it!?
@@dmcalais good point, it has been sold for 10 years and this hasn't been an issue. We bought the companyy April 2022 and busy making improvements.
The top should be of a flexible silicone material so you don’t crack the roof against a limb.
I was thinking the same thing. I work in several areas on my place where I would be concerned about it hitting limbs or catching on vines, etc.
its a flexible polymer my friend...unlike the busted one I pulled off the Ventrac
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Yes the older Ventrac tops were brittle. Hopefully their new one is more durable. Undoubtedly more expensive than the one you installed!
Hey Josh thank you for the video and you both did a great job putting that thing together I like it woo
See the update to my original comment.
I was wondering if while mowing or regular farm chores, is there much dust sucked in from the top and forced downward?
That is a thought that I hadn't considered, I am thinking like you that dust could be drawn in and then down on the operator, I guess a man wouldn't know until he tried it.
Absolutely, if you are mowing in less than ideal conditions, the real world, you’ll literally be getting dust blown on you the entire time. Like big time dust shower
Still cool and I wouldn’t mind having one. When conditions are right run the fan and when they aren’t just switch it off.
@@johnnyappleseed9254 that’s what I was thinking
Might blow the dust off ya. I take long paths on my zero turn to outrun the dust.
When you put the rops back the roof looks like it will stick up as high as the rops
Not made to fold back. Some people remove it, but it's not design to easily remove.
Good morning Josh thats awesome enjoy your cool top
Whooooo
1200$ tho
That would be great on our RK24 here in Florida
Hope Terry (or his company) makes $ hand over fist! That's a cool product. Love the US flag and sticker! Horseflies (deer flies) are reincarnated Bad people! could be a wedding present.
There is a Cool Top designed for radius eXmark. It want fall down.
@@terrypritchard353 Please share details? I bought my exmark and added the this expensive top from the dealer but it keeps dropping low hitting my head when im cutting my bumpy yard
@@terrypritchard353 Should i email you directly from the website?
It would be nice if it had different speed settings.
don't really need it my friend...just turn it on and go...if it's too cold turn it off for a bit...just tried the zero turn fan and it's awesome!
👍
Those look very nice, they seen awfully loud on the video, how loud is it in real time?🤙
you're gonna be wearing hearing protection when running a machine like this my friend
Do they come in John Deere Green?😅
yeppers!
I'd like to find a ROPS for my 8n...
I look at this, and my first thought is, why didn't someone think of this before? Using the airflow to keep bugs down is reason enough. Although I wonder how well it holds up in dusty conditions, and can the fan be just hosed off
He did say the fan is fully electricly sealed so i cant see any reason why you couldn't
Yeah, so it was designed to provide freah air to the operator blowing away bugs and dust. It is a seal fan that can take rain. Everything has a 2 year warranty against manufacturing defects.
Was hear
Wooooo!
Set up misting and it would be a game changer.....kinda loud thou.
Not to the fuse block?
People who understand the electrics of their equipment find better ways to link to existing electrics.
Really cool , However i would think that the unit should be wired into the the ignition switch. you might forget to shut it down after using the tractor.
Good idea. Save the battery from absent mindedness.
At the risk of sounding like an a-hole you’d have to be deaf to forget to shut that thing off after operation.
@@johnnyappleseed9254 Lol, very true but I’ve experienced parasitic draw on similar wiring hookups that end up draining the battery. They’re trying to keep it simple but an ignition connection is just as easy and would eliminate even the remote possibility of battery drawdown when parked.
@@johnnyappleseed9254 Yes you are correct. Some of us use hearing protection and might miss the noise. As for me I'm 93 years old and my hearing isn't the greatest. Ditto to Farmhands comment
lol...pretty much brotha
@Stoney Ridge Farmer
What, no mister attachment?
lol...that's what you sweat for bhahahha
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer is that fan as loud as it sounded in the video? It seems like you'll still need hearing protection even with the electric tractor.
@@RoderickGMacLeod the fan is really not that loud when running your equipment. Josh went from tranquil country to fan on so it seemed really loud. Josh did an awesome job created numerious sales in just a few days.
How about for a Garden Tractor without a "stock" ROPS?
I proudly use my 1986 CRAFTSMAN GT6000 to mow my father-in-laws 5+ Acres, and I am sick of having to wear a hat that makes me look like a 1940s French Foreign Legion member in Africa!
This would be VERY nice to have, especially with "quick connects" for when not in use...
Looks like it is time for you to clean those Battery Terminals, and coat them with some Petroleum Jelly (or Dielectric Grease) to keep the "FUZZ" away.
lol...you must love to sit on that old mower brotha....hop on a zero turn and you'll bet your mowing done in 1/4 the time! But I do love the old stuff too!!
With Prices between $499. To well over $1k I think I will pass
cost money to stay cool my friend...but if you price a canopy at your local tractor dealer you'll pay well over $1k and you won't get a fan!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer that's probably true idk I haven't priced one ..lol have a great weekend
Solar powered would be nice
this fan is moving some air.....your alternator is charging your battery all the time...but 10 amps on a 12 v solar panel would be bigger than the tractor
6" fan, solar powered, no battery, , and under $50 includes solar panel
I need to start a TH-cam channel so I can get free stuff?
you're funny....ever hear the term "there is no free lunch"....well my friend it's 100% true. I work more than most any other man you've met in your life. When most are at the beach with your toes in the sand...I'm working...when folks are going out to dinner with family...I'm editing....when I wake up in the morning I'm in front of a computer or a tractor or a cow...and I go to bed dreaming of work lol. However...you have every opportunity to do exactly what I'm doing my brother.....do it! Getr done my friend...running this farm and channel has been the toughest thing I've ever done in my life
Josh earned every penny, even bought me lunch oneday.
I work in my forest mostly, this won't work, it'll hang up all the time.
yep....any canopy or ROPS would potentially get damaged working in a wooded area...most folks are mowing out in the pastures
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👀👀👀🥃🥃🥃👍👍👍🍻🍻🍻☕️☕️☕️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
There no pricing
check the new link I just posted
Freakin sold, I bet it will keep some dust out of your face while mowing too
1st! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I guess you’ll have to run a separate battery for the fan when Biden makes us go to all electric machines.
yeah....in reality I don't think that's gonna happen my friend
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Already happening in California. Lol
I just don’t see the cost benefit.
Cost to put these on each piece of equipment of the farm: $1,300 x 4 = $5,200
Amount of revenue made from this item to put back into my farm: $0
That’s a LOT of feed, seed and fuel money wasted. If you’re a hobby farmer with “F”-it money laying around, then this product is great!
BGG....I see you've left a few comments on this. My brother....a tractor canopy from your local dealer without a fan would cost ya around $1k. This costs around $1.2k. It keeps you shaded and cool as you mow for hours on end. Most don't have as many machines as I do.....you've gotta understand that I not only run a farm..I run a social media content creation business. I traveled last week to Minnesota....two weeks before to Kentucky farm show. So...what I'm showing ya here is options...not just 5 canopies on my machines....the options and the look of each one so you can make an informed purchase decision.
I'm telling ya....these tops are awesome, and I wouldn't be showing ya if I didn't think they were buddy. You do understand that I'm showing you options right? Colors...different machines and how it's all set up. Hold back the immediate urge to take a stab at me....and understand my brother....I'm here to show you interesting tools and products that you might wanna try on your tractor. Can you imaging baling hay in 100 degree heat with an awesome fan blasting down on ya...keeping you clean, cool and comfy? It's the next best thing to a cab tractor my friend. Be thankful that there's someone out here like me, showcasing the real world use of products like this on the property. That's what I do for a living brother!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer thank you for your feedback brother. I greatly appreciate what you do, and what you provide to all of us out here. I just don’t personally see the ROI of this product. Be blessed brother, and keep on keeping on!
PS…the ROI on the battery operated loppers from 2 years ago was wonderful!
The ROI on this is being cool and comforatable on your machine...thus being more productive...and the skin cancer risk is totally decreased as you are sitting in the shade instead of expsosed out in the sun my friend. If a canopy cost $600...why not spend a few more bucks...the cost of 5 bags of groceries and have "air conditioning"....there's also no ROI on a family vacation...but we do it because we deserve the comfort my friend
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer somewhat agree and disagree brother. For me, 99% of the time my tractor/mower is in motion. I’m covered in the shade from the canopy and thus string the breeze blowing me to cool me. The CFM and volume produced by this size and voltage fan is not great enough in my study to see the benefit. If I was stationary or using the backhoe, then most definitely!
As for vacations, if done correctly, there truly is an ROI. Not cash ROI, but the return is you are more relaxed, reenergized and have made amazing memories. Just don’t go where the other million crazies are. Lol. There isn’t a cost that can be placed on that.
Keep up the great work. You’ve provided a lot of great material that we have used on our farm. Just not this one…and that’s okay 👍🏼 🇺🇸
Josh, you may want to do a little more research about products you recommend. There is no way to find a dealer list or MSRP for this product. Even the phone number on their web page is the plastic supplier, not this company. They do not post dealer list nor MSRP. Even the link you posted for this product under your name as an Amazon influencer doesn't show this product and an Amazon search doesn't find this product. This isn't the first item I purchased (or tried to purchase) from one of your videos. A while back you presented a automatic siphon system from a farm show. I ordered and set my money. It's been almost two months now (or maybe a month) and I still haven't received the product. I can't speak for others but I religiously follow your videos but in my experience you're getting unreliable for items you present. Please be more accurate and provide good reliable contact information. Thanks. P.S. I'm in south east Arizona and I REALLY need something like this.
UPDATE: I just received a call back from Terry returning my call this morning. He informed me the video from Josh is a little premature as the product will come out about May 1,. website will be update with where to buy and they will offer two online stores. From what Terry told me, MSRP for my Kubota 25HP tractor will hover around $1000. I'm really impressed about the quick call back. Now all I have to do is come up with a grand plus shipping.
my friend.....I think you just answered your own question huh. I'm showing you a tool my friend..it's up to you to do the research if you want one...and I'm not an influencer on this product...I'm just showing ya something cool....I also don't have an affiliate relationship with safety siphon. Man...ya don't have to draw conclusions about me, I'm just showing ya stuff...you aren't buying it from me, google my brother....and there's a dealer locator on the Cool Tops website for ya. I'm here to provide you with fun and interesting content....please don't rip into me before you've simply reached out to the company you've placed an order with. I'm just showing ya cool stuff here buddy
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Josh I humbly apologize. I didn't intend to discredit you or say you're a fraud. Quite the opposite. I just wanted to inform you of a few things. I ain't blaming you... just asking you to perhaps do a little more verifying info. Ex: Once again you just said a dealer list was on the website.. I know my old eyes are showing my age but for the life of me I still can't find a dealer list of the Cooltops website. But all is well.
