I like California, especially the second disc. The music they made with Matt was different. But so is the music they're currently creating with Tom. And so was the music after the first reunion. Sometimes, I want to listen to Self titled, sometimes TOYPAJ, etc. and sometimes I feel like California. I have nothing but love and respect for Matt!
Instrumentally one of my favorites from the record, a few people complaining about the cheesy lyrics on the chorus but give it a chance, I was drinking beers over the weekend blasting this song in the background during a house party pregame and the song really came to life lol I was screaming WE EVER HADDDDD at the top of my lungs lol
Thanks! lol I'll always be a fan of Blink182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, The Starting Line and the bands I grew up with... and then After drinking The Killers become my absolute favorite band and you'll find me crying out Mr Brightside at a karaoke bar.
when mark start sing " until monday morning strikes again " its make me cry damn its very good,,thanks mark, travis and matt u save blink 182 for me and the fans,
[Verse 1: Mark Hoppus] Can you read my thoughts I'm not sure what I said I feel dumb and long night coming Did you steal my prayers I don't know where I was I feel numb and all or nothing [Chorus: Mark Hoppus & Matt Skiba] It's Friday night let's lose our minds In a downward spiral Here we go Because we got no control Friday nights always save my life From the worst of times we ever had Thank God for punk rock bands Until Monday morning strikes again We are the kings of the weekend [Verse 2: Matt Skiba] I can feel my head Falling off my neck I need something to keep going So just take my hand Only seconds left The clock's running our time's coming [Chorus: Mark Hoppus & Matt Skiba] It's Friday night let's lose our minds In a downward spiral Here we go Because we got no control Friday nights always save my life From the worst of times we ever had Thank God for punk rock bands Until Monday morning strikes again We are the kings of the weekend [Chorus: Mark Hoppus & Matt Skiba] It's Friday night let's lose our minds In a downward spiral Here we go Because we got no control Friday nights always save my life From the worst of times we ever had Thank God for punk rock bands Until Monday morning strikes again We are the kings of the weekend
It just made me pass through my darkest times bro, I love this album, I f...... love this album, in my opinion, the best one, even lovin Tom (more thank Skiba, sorry), this is the best, for sure.
I can't grasp what people who hate this album so bad were looking for. This whole album is Blink-182 from top to bottom. Some of the songs are just fun and not that ambitious. Since when is punk not allowed to do that?
I don't get why people think that people "hate" things for the sake and fun of hating. We have our reasons. Personally, I wasn't looking for anything like "classic Blink" but most of these songs are awful. They sound like FOB b-sides, not Blink or punk. Also, Bored to Death and Rabbit Hole were kind of misleading. We later find out the lead single and their third lyric video is basically the only songs that sound like that in the whole album.
When I listen to blink, i immediately get a feeling it's blink. I even got that out of Neighborhoods. Going through the album atm, but it's been on and off atm
They said they would sound like they did in the nineties; this sounds nothing like that. If they want to make over processed pop music that's cool, but I don't like being lied to
This is one that majorly grew on me...reminds me of all those shitty days in middle school waiting for the weekend to come so I could go skate and hang with friends
Omg thanks for Matt Skiba or Blink wouldn’t be playing right now and just on a long break. It’s so cool he stepped in and the songs on California are amazing
I think if people came in not expecting it to sound any certain way... They would be happy with this album. I'm happy with it, because I wasn't expecting a classic "blink" sound. They've moved on, and as a result their sound has progressed.
Eh... disagree. Blink-182's untitled was very different to anything they had put out and it was still one of their best albums. Poppy and overproduced =/= progress
This is the most interesting blink record by far, harmonys all over, Amazing effects on the vocals, guitar and bass part work perfect, and Travis well just Amazing Drum parts, every song
The song "Bored to Death" Was the first chart topper for Blink in 15 years. It was number 1. This album is gammy nominated. GO BLINK ! They really deserved this ! That's what 18 hours in the studio for 3 months gets ya !
I honestly feel this album meaning both discs are one of the best albums they have written in years....they are evolving into something better and they are growing and maturing and writing with a whole new guitarist with a whole new style, it should just be expected
You can say what you will this album trumps all previous music of theirs. this new sound of theirs is amazing and nearly every song is worthy of blowing speakers over
In a track by track breakdown recorded for NME, guitarist Matt Skiba said: ‘Kings of the Weekend’ - we had a really good problem with this record in that, when we were done writing, we had twenty, almost thirty songs. And it was one of the hardest parts of it. And in a good way, we had to whittle things down. And there were some different versions. We were all kind of putting them in different orders and playing around with it and kind of emailing ideas back and forth, or discussing them in the studio of course. That was one that I had very little to do with, writing-wise. I think I wrote some guitar stuff, but as far as lyrics and melodies and stuff, I had so much fun singing it because it was something I would have never thought to write, and I could very easily be a fan of and be on the outside looking in, even though I played guitar on it and sang it. I just loved the song. When I came in that morning and heard it, I was like “This song should definitely make the record”. I just kind of let it marinate and see what everybody thought, and I’m really happy that it made the cut."
The 'Til monday morning strikes again' part sounds like a Goldfinger song called 'Dad' from their Open Your Eyes album. 'Dont go away again..I just wanna be your friend' bit. Even the guitar is picked exactly the same. I noticed they've got other goldfinger melodies in some of their other songs to. Like in Cynical. Feldman has got them doing the 'So sorry So sorry' backing. sounds so much like feldmans singing style and writing style from the open up your eyes album era, That I'm not even 100% certain if its actually him or not singing on the track. The old dog has got blink doing goldfinger-esque type stuff. I guess he does float his own boat. Feldman is def the 4th member of the band on this album
Personally, I think it just sounds painfully unoriginal. Everything from the lyrics to the squeaky clean guitar and vocals feels sorta empty and like we've heard them 1000 times before. That's just my opinion though
if you think about it. 180000 copies sold in one week. so that means that the people not buying it or stealing it are 50 50 on the fence so they are here like me.
Dude, my name is Adam Taylor too! WTF? But hey, i disagree with you! This is actually one of my favorites from the album because it sounds so old school. Just think back to enema of the state, this sounds very similar! Sure, the guitars sound different but they are still crunchy! This is one of the best songs for sure. It's the only song besides the only thing that matters that sounds old school! i love it
After all these years I still don’t understand the hate for this album. Skiba freaking killed it with blink 182 and they’re good no matter the lineup
No hate here, Tom isn't missed, just another version and it worked well.
Tombots. They hate everything without tom.
Matt Skiba is a fucking legend, he nails it on every song on the album.
Everyone arguing about this album, while I just put my headphones, sit back, and enjoy listening to it.
It's better if you just ignore the comments by not even looking at them.
But then, what am I doing?
+Thomas Young The Horse you said it brother. zero fucks on what anyone else thinks.
I love this album. I bought it the day at came out and I've listened to it at least 15 times since.
Same ^
agree!!
Instrumentally one of my favorites from the record, a few people complaining about the cheesy lyrics on the chorus but give it a chance, I was drinking beers over the weekend blasting this song in the background during a house party pregame and the song really came to life lol I was screaming WE EVER HADDDDD at the top of my lungs lol
you have a lot of courage blasting blink at a pregame during this day n age. I'll give you that. lol.
Wish I was at that party, sounds epic!
Thanks! lol I'll always be a fan of Blink182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, The Starting Line and the bands I grew up with... and then After drinking The Killers become my absolute favorite band and you'll find me crying out Mr Brightside at a karaoke bar.
Come thru!
nice man!! haha
when mark start sing " until monday morning strikes again " its make me cry damn its very good,,thanks mark, travis and matt u save blink 182 for me and the fans,
"THANK GOD FOR PUNK ROCK BANDS"
UNTIL MONDAY MORNING STRIKES AGAIN
@rachelchandler4086 we are the kings of the weekend!
honestly this album made me love blink-182 even more
Well said sir
Those of you complaining about Blink trying to be younger have obviously missed the point of What's My Age Again? Shame on you guys
Who cares what blink is let blink be blink
If the Untitled album didn’t come out, people would be less pissed off
"Thank God For Punk Rock Bands" ... Thank You so much!!!
Thank God for punk rock bands!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Verse 1: Mark Hoppus]
Can you read my thoughts
I'm not sure what I said
I feel dumb and long night coming
Did you steal my prayers
I don't know where I was
I feel numb and all or nothing
[Chorus: Mark Hoppus & Matt Skiba]
It's Friday night let's lose our minds
In a downward spiral
Here we go
Because we got no control
Friday nights always save my life
From the worst of times we ever had
Thank God for punk rock bands
Until Monday morning strikes again
We are the kings of the weekend
[Verse 2: Matt Skiba]
I can feel my head
Falling off my neck
I need something to keep going
So just take my hand
Only seconds left
The clock's running our time's coming
[Chorus: Mark Hoppus & Matt Skiba]
It's Friday night let's lose our minds
In a downward spiral
Here we go
Because we got no control
Friday nights always save my life
From the worst of times we ever had
Thank God for punk rock bands
Until Monday morning strikes again
We are the kings of the weekend
[Chorus: Mark Hoppus & Matt Skiba]
It's Friday night let's lose our minds
In a downward spiral
Here we go
Because we got no control
Friday nights always save my life
From the worst of times we ever had
Thank God for punk rock bands
Until Monday morning strikes again
We are the kings of the weekend
how did I miss this song? it's been on repeat... and it's on again. Thank God for Blink!
Id love to disagree with a lot of people but I don't care what you think I love this album I wanna buy it it's really awesome
I have both the cd and the vinyl of the album. Absolutely love it and Matt Skiba!
Ever heard of Spotify though?
@@finleyjames-hammond6303 fuck Spotify sound quality sucks
It just made me pass through my darkest times bro, I love this album, I f...... love this album, in my opinion, the best one, even lovin Tom (more thank Skiba, sorry), this is the best, for sure.

+fhhh this isn't selling out? Mark is the only original member. Blink-182 is just a name now
+fhhh yeah, this is a far cry from +44. I feel like they're just milking the Blink-182 name for money
Love Skiba's voice in this song
His verse in this song is one of the highlights of this whole album for me.
As an Alkaline Trio, this brings me great delight!
God bless punk rock. We are the kings of the weekend
This is one that majorly grew on me...reminds me of all those shitty days in middle school waiting for the weekend to come so I could go skate and hang with friends
Omg thanks for Matt Skiba or Blink wouldn’t be playing right now and just on a long break. It’s so cool he stepped in and the songs on California are amazing
you do have to give him credit so I'd agree with you
I love their drummer, hes better that alot of other bands ive heard
He’s the best @travisbarker
Thats travis mcmuthafuckin barker for ya
Yessir! 😎🤘
I think if people came in not expecting it to sound any certain way... They would be happy with this album. I'm happy with it, because I wasn't expecting a classic "blink" sound. They've moved on, and as a result their sound has progressed.
Agreed.
same thought here! 🖐🏻
this is the new era of blink :)
Eh... disagree. Blink-182's untitled was very different to anything they had put out and it was still one of their best albums. Poppy and overproduced =/= progress
Progress =/= (always) good progress. I like it but each to there own.
Exactly, I felt the same way. If this under a "side project" name, people would be into it just fine
My favorite off the album
This is the most interesting blink record by far, harmonys all over,
Amazing effects on the vocals, guitar and bass part work perfect, and Travis well just Amazing
Drum parts,every song
Great album, love it, makes me feel 16 again and I'm 32. Matt fits well. Some catchy songs and something new. Blink is back. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Best one off the album
I love these epic riffs! I'll dance around my room like a huge dork and flip out on the wicked guitar slides.
The scream at 1:25 is Jack Hoppus. Mark confirmed it on Twitter today!
this album is fire, I've learn to appreciate it more over the years
love the guitar chords at 1:56
my god, Matt makes wonderful things for Blink182
Thank God for Punk rock bands
The song "Bored to Death" Was the first chart topper for Blink in 15 years. It was number 1. This album is gammy nominated. GO BLINK ! They really deserved this ! That's what 18 hours in the studio for 3 months gets ya !
California, at least for me, is the best Blink-182 album. I don't understand why people don't love it
I'm 15 again. At 36 years old. Thank you 🙃
My favorite song
for Now this is My Favorite Song of California
love skiba! he did great at the friday dallas show
The intro is amazing
I honestly feel this album meaning both discs are one of the best albums they have written in years....they are evolving into something better and they are growing and maturing and writing with a whole new guitarist with a whole new style, it should just be expected
The bridge is awesome
Not quite sure what it is, but this song is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites. Thank God for punk rock bands.
I love this album personally
I absolutely love this song!
When Skiba comes in during the second verse,... it just sounds so fucking good
this song and no future love that alkaline trio influence
My favorite song of the album!
Me: in period 5, about to finish school for the week.
Whole class at 3:05pm:
i really like this melody and skiba's vocals are on point
You can say what you will this album trumps all previous music of theirs. this new sound of theirs is amazing and nearly every song is worthy of blowing speakers over
Love this song

That lead on the last chorus that starts at 2:32 is amazing
This is so awesome , nailed it , keep it up .
I love this song!
best song off of the album, not skipped a track yet
2:18 - 2:21 , I love that part, Travis
I know there's no Tom, but I'm feeling this album, been a blink fan before my teen years, now I'm a 30yr old man still listening to blink, loving it

Ive seen a shitload of comments defending this song from haters, but I don't see the haters. WTF :')
Hahahaha so true, ironic and funny :')
That’s because people who know they’re wrong delete their comments
I really like the effects in the clean it reminds me of third eye blind in the 90s.

+Martina Morazzoni grazie
+Martina Morazzoni AHAHAHAH
thank God for punk rock bands!
I cannot find one commentating on this album but I find a thousand comments talking about "I don't know why people hate this album I love it" 🤣
I like this song 👍👍👍
I think the one thing that this fandom can agree on is that Travis is ONE of the greatest drummers of all time.
The 'Til monday morning strikes again' part sounds like a Goldfinger song called 'Dad' from their Open Your Eyes album. 'Dont go away again..I just wanna be your friend' bit. GREAT!!! Your music is life, Blink!! Keep on!!!!!
my brothers into these sort of music and so am i !
I don't get all the hate on this video. This is a solid song from a solid album.
Personally, I think it just sounds painfully unoriginal. Everything from the lyrics to the squeaky clean guitar and vocals feels sorta empty and like we've heard them 1000 times before. That's just my opinion though
+Adam Taylor even though I like it, I can see why one would think that and I respect your opinion
if you think about it. 180000 copies sold in one week. so that means that the people not buying it or stealing it are 50 50 on the fence so they are here like me.
Blink-182 isn't supposed to be solid you know.
2023 and Friday nights still save my life
Thank God for punk rock bands 🙌🏻🙌🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

does anyone else hear after midnight in the intro?
yup
I thought the same omg
It's those hi hat rolls Travis is doing
yup noticed it when he uploaded the clip of him drumming that part lol
yupp.. sound of bass like after midnight
This song really grew on me
At 1:24, a usually quiet and reserved Travis Barker unleashes his vocal ability to the world.
im listening to this on a tuesday not friday but it still rocks
Love blink-182
Thank god for punk Rock Drummers! WOW!
Up 182, forever and ever!!
"thank god for punk rock bands"
Partying to kings of the weekend!
