You don't just keep going and *hope* people move out of your way; that's incredibly inconsiderate of the people who are around you, not to mention SUPER dangerous. Driving a power wheelchair like that is quite literally operating heavy machinery. It’s a huge responsibility. I cringed SO hard when I watched Abby act/drive like that. So many people are taking the “I’m emotional” scene with Melissa and Mackenzie WAY to seriously. Mackenzie was 6 years old crying because she didn’t catch the flowers. She didn’t get her way and had a simple tantrum and responded with “I’m emotional”. Melissa said it was cute because I’m sure she didn’t expect her 6 year old to use that word or even know what it means so she thought it was cute that she know how to express her feelings but being dramatic (like all of us are at 6 years old) about not catching the fake flower bouquet.
I feel like the atmosphere of the show is just so full of kids being treated badly that the people watching just start to see everything as possible mistreatment, so much that even calling your kid cute because she says she’s “emotional” about flowers is seen in a malicious light. There are lots of scenes that seem benign in the show but when put in the context of the raw footage before editing turn out to be the kids being treated badly or at least passive aggressively. It’s just a mindset the show puts you in where there’s so much child mistreatment that you come to expect everything to be malicious in some way.
While it does come across as dramatic, and some people can be overreacting about it being too heartless, one thing I still like to keep in mind is how much things mean to kids the younger they are due to the span of their lives, and the emotion it can evoke. Usually what they're upset about isn't that big of a deal to an adult, but when you haven't lived long enough to where the little things are by comparison the most important things in your life, small losses and failures can evoke just as much emotion as an adult failing at something dire. And those emotions can be just as valid and intense. Which is why I can never approve of making light of small things that kids are truly upset over, because if it equates to a high percentage of significance in their short lives they're probably gonna feel equally as torn about it as the "serious" stuff in the "real" world. But it's especially not fair to these kids because the environment they're in makes everything so dramatic. Best you can do is lead them over it without belittling them, so that they can adjust without resentment and not subconsciously keep the experiences as huge negatives.
This is completely true but it's really damaging to a child when their emotions are completely brushed aside like that. As you said, she was six and not catching a bouquet was her biggest issue because she was six and those feelings should've been acknowledged. Just because you're a kid doesn't mean you can't feel sadness

Dance moms is an extremely good example of what not to do to your children. The amount of mental toxicity their is not just between the adults but also to the kids is insane. I mean almost all of the moms tell their children to just suck up their feelings and pretend everything is okay with a smile. The majority of these moms should not have children in the first place, or at least get their children out as soon as things have become so toxic.
