Just one of those bands, doesn't make any sense why they never received Grammy's or wide spread success. The emotion the flows through their music is uncanny. Love that minor change around three minute spot!...never noticed that before. Thank God for recordings!
One of my favorite songs of all time. :) Such a talented group and it was a shame they stopped writing 14 years ago, but this new split with circa survive just lit up my life. :) I'll always love SDRE.
I'm so glad I though to look for this - I love the melody and the complementary guitar parts on this. Totally underrated band. The word "genius" doesn't even begin to describe them.
i saw them in 1998 on the How It Feels.. tour, and WOW. they were so amazing, i had a chance to see Jeremy play in Boston recently, but my band was playing that night. I guess my priorities weren't in order
I am soooo happy and greatful that this live acoustic session of them even exists on the internet. My soul went back to the summer of 2004 when I first heard it 🙏❤🤯 Totally forgot about this song until now. Sept. 21st 2022
Seein em in august was flooring, theyve gotten BETTER in a full sense of those words. Phenomenal stage presence and talent..seeing them again in May, very excited.
I am so glad they will be touring again...they are so friggin talented. I am biased of course, since Dan is my brother...but still... They are all incrediby talented, and are all very nice people, as well.
Met Dan a few times. He was extremely nice. It's because of him that I picked up the guitar. I agree that he missed and hope that he creates music again!
This song tempted me back from the cliff-edge of musical disinterest so many times now it's getting hard to count. Just that simple dum-dum-DUM-dum (you know what I mean ;)) blows everything that's happened in music since The Rising Tide way out of the water.
it is hard to find bands like SDRE nowadays, they were one in a million. but if u guys want to hear something close to this check out CIRCA SURVIVE they're new and know what they're doing sounds amazing! ther is hope.
This is such a beautiful song and a beautiful version of it. Although, in the beginning Jeremy sorta looks like James Taylor :P I have many many many favorite SDRE songs and I think they're all their "best" BTW...I think the new song is called "10"
only caught the last song. But, a bunch of people said that every song sounded similar... Jeremy didn't mention what the new song was called? But, that being said It was still great to see them live. Look forward to see Jeremy's solo act if he comes around again.
why cant we have more bands like this today? its all fake emo crap nowadays... appleseed cast gave me hope tho... just disappointed jimmy eat world changed their sound..

This is greatness!
No autotune was used in the making of this video
So we just gonna ignore that 9 hours of this is just a still frame?
yea idk what’s up with that
@@damesoumbi like literally no one is acknowledging it or anything lol it's crazy
this is one of those songs that you cant believe actually exist. in a good way,
the vocal melodies on this album are legendary
i saw them in 1998 on the How It Feels.. tour, and WOW. they were so amazing, i had a chance to see Jeremy play in Boston recently, but my band was playing that night. I guess my priorities weren't in order
GOD this is amazing, I cant get over it. I wish they would record more of their songs acoustic like this.

Answering this just because I thought It could be a good idea to response to something 17 years later
Get the band back together! I miss the interplay between their guitars 🎸

How much talent in this people.
these guys are great! diary will always be my favorite cd!
What a great version of this song so vulnerable and real. The two guitar part sound great I love it!

I was in love with her, but she isn't anymore... I didn't want to believe it... this song reminds me one of the last times I saw her...
why is this 9 hours?
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Jeremy's hair had fallen off.
But he is still abeautiful person.
I love SDRE.
Wow, this is great.
Great song
Dan is the man!
So good!!!!
it is hard to find bands like SDRE nowadays, they were one in a million. but if u guys want to hear something close to this check out CIRCA SURVIVE they're new and know what they're doing sounds amazing! ther is hope.

one of the best songs they ever wrote. i enjoy it even more than stuff on Diary
I see. I've heard of them before but never listened to any of their stuff. I'll have to check them out.
This is such a beautiful song and a beautiful version of it.

i agree. i want to see them in Atlanta in oct. but i can't afford to go
amazing, sounds even better acoustic
fuck they do a great job of this, such a good blend with the guitars, it almost sounds like it's one part
love them

Soothing
this version makes me cry more than the album version. 8")
This video is more than twice as old as the performance was at the time of uploading.
Great bad I put them up with Hum as some of my favorite 90's music
Has ANYONE got the AOL session version of this?! It disappeared from the internet years ago and it was beautiful...
I was the first person to upload that Aol version to Napster. True story.
mopenstein do you have the link?
Amen to that!
cant wait till they come to the henry ford theatre in hollywood
Does anyone have a live (non acoustic) version of The Ocean? That'd be awesome!!!
preciosa
from what i've seen live, i'm pretty sure they're both jeremy's guitars.
@currerimp08 This is.... SDRE
You know that right.
every 3 or 4 years ...they always say they will
but it never happens
you do know that the original 4 members have reunited and are doing a tour?
God...I love Fiona Apple, nice play by the way
@SitarKnight
hahaha, niiiice :-)
There chicago show sold out in five minutes. i'm pissed cause i wanted to go
It's actually 6/4... :-)
How the fuck could someone dislike this? I bet those 8 people listen to Brokencyde.
jeremy is the jason statham of my dreams. yeah.
lmao what
i love how jeremy is playing a gibson and dan is playing a yamaha.
Tell uncle Dan that he is missed. And what was his deal with California anyway?
nah, their best song is Every Shining Time You Arrive :)
Nope, their best song is 5/4.
@@gabeblums2062 Nah... Count me as another vote for 'Every Shining Time You Arrive'
Yes!! Bungle did it, failure did it, even tool. Now we need a SDRE album and a new Far album and we’re set. New HUM happened too.
I would have to say that if you don't like, or at least appreciate, this then you probably don't like music...
they remind me of pinback
It sucks they didn't play anything from Rising tide though:(
why the fuck is this video 9 hours long
SDRE are Original
try stub hub...i just got my tickets for tonight in boston
this comment made me giggle xD wow.
Thats not entirely accurate - there was also a lineup change. They still rock just as hard though.
...speehless
would you stop calling them trolls their called short people
no. it woudlnt. cause i heard pinback before these guys.
emo!
LMAO! (Praying4tidalWaves)
why cant we have more bands like this today? its all fake emo crap nowadays...
appleseed cast gave me hope tho...
just disappointed jimmy eat world changed their sound..
God I love them. Sucks they helped spawn the emo movement we have littering music these days.
google it
What in the world is a troll anyway?
in retrospect, labeling this band emo is quite an insult...even if they did originate it.
no....
their best song is waffle
;)
I thought this was going to be a led zeppelin cover. wtf?
@MikeBenedict1986 not rly funny man
yeah...well, agreed...the show went way too quick...and that opening band fuckin sucks!
