I think Spirit Island is best expanded upon by release date. I agree with your recommendation to start with the base game, but then go to "Heart of Wildfire" and "Serpent Sleeping Beneath the Earth", then Branch and Claw, and then Jagged Earth. The game can be overwhelming and breaking it into small chunks is necessary. You become much less afraid of blight after playing Heart a few times.
@@onepipwonder915 I do indeed think there will be a next, given how many people backed the last one. Sentinels of the Multiverse had a ton of expansions.
Can you make a list of spirits That you played, and once that you partner plays.(especially interested to see the spirits you don't toch, I can see why tho, well to each there own). Looking forward to more content. Thanks and keep up the great job.
Hey Dawn! So far I have played Stone's Unyielding Defiance, Shifting Memory of Ages, Grinning Trickster Stirs Up Trouble, Lure of the Deep Wilderness, Shroud of Silent Mist, Vengeance as a Burning Plague and Downpour Drenches the World. My husband has played Lure of the Deep Wilderness, Many Minds Move as One, Volcano Looming High, Shroud of Silent Mist, Vengeance as a Burning Plague, Starlight Seeks Its Form, Fractured Days Split the Sky, and Finder of Paths Unseen. The ones I don't want to touch are all the ones my husband has played that I have not! lol Except for Many Minds..., I am willing to give that one a try :) Thanks so much for watching and comment!
@@onepipwonder915 Since Downpour Drenches the World and Finder of Paths Unseen were Promo Pack 2 spirits, did you guys play Heart of the Wildfire and Serpent Slumbering Beneath the Island from Promo Pack 1?
@@onepipwonder915 It really helps that they updated the rules to have +1 blight token on the Blight card. When playing spirits like Heart of the Wildfire you cause a lot of Blight. Before the recent errata, that spirit caused Blighted Island quite a bit.
Used to buy every expansion available, but I’ve soured on them significantly- they typically either unbalance the base game or add more stuff to track/deal with/ignore. However, Jagged Earth is awesome!
Some of the expansion spirits are grate the ones draw me to it: Ages,Time,Many minds, Myst was before I studied it only has max 2 energy (Same for downpour). Its a good expansion but to few grate spirits form e to be sold on it yet.
Thanks for the review! 🙂 Two things... One, I agree with you about some of that artwork. Some of that seems to clash with the style and vibe of the original artwork. 😕 Two, did you say you can play 6 players with this expansion? Have you ever done that before? 😲🤯
yes! six players. but no we haven't done a full game yet. We just meet some spirit island gamers that live near by and have been playing 5 player games which is really fun. We just need one more!
@@rneumeye when everyone knows what they want to do, we have found the time is not that bad since turns are simultaneous. It does not take that much longer than a two or three player game. honest! lol
No problem! We've been playing The Habsburg Monarchy at level 2 (difficulty 5) and Tsardom of Russia level 2 (dif.4), both are the new Jaggered Earth Advisories I forgot to mention! We won most of those plays. Recently played Kingdom of England at level 3 with Vengeance as a Burning Plague and Shroud of Silent Mist but we lost. Hope to try again today!
@@onepipwonder915 i think mist and plague are really difficult match up against england. Since both blight the land A LOT. And england blight a lot as well
Wonderful video. Want to play again now 😆
Great review. I get this in the mail tomorrow...very excited. Keep up the great work.
Hope you enjoy it! and thanks!
Just got my copy today! So excited to open Jagged Earth's big box!
Loved the review! Thanks for sharing the quality!

totally agree Eric!
I hope the next expansion has a couple more Low Complexity spirits to balance out all the Moderate, High, and Very High spirits.

Looks like a good addition to Spirit Island, going to run it past the kids.

Are you excited that the new standalone expansion, Horizons of Spirit Island, will have 5 new low complexity spirits?
I am very curious about them for sure! I think they might be more welcoming to new players 😊
