You don't cut throttle and climb, just the opposite. The main goal is to stop the bombers, without bombers to protect, the German fighters would leave.
18:20 - 'Not gonna pretend I'm using valid tactics." Meanwhile, Group sends you out in a 3-plane Vic, which means, you're already using invalid tactics. By the end of August, the RAF started flying like the Germans. That is, in pairs.
Bf-109E-1s had only machine guns. The later versions, E3s and above had 20mm cannons in the wings and machine guns in the nose. It wasn't until the F models that a 20mm cannons were mounted in the nose. The F model had a better engine and was far superior to the E model. I think you need to exploit the Spitfire's better turn radius to attack and evade. The 109's should be faster and are better at high-speed boom and zoom attacks and should avoid turn fights.
Make sure you have speed on the field and don't get behind the Stuka for max 2 rounds and then turn away and you make it harder for the Me 109 to shoot you
In the Spit I that was a major issue yup, you even hear it in the Battle of Britain movie in the first scene when a guy does a victory roll over the airfield. That said I think later models fixed that.
One thing i wonder is if they modeled the inability of the spitfire to do negative Gs, due to its float carburetor as opposed to the 109s fuel injection?
THG, Wolfpack345 gave this a go as the Demo a little while back & even as a 1V1, it was a bit of a curve for him (Given his flight sim Resume, that should tell you a bit about the learning curve on this one). Squad tactics are a whole other magnitude of complexity, so it makes sense that this was riding the struggle bus a bit. I will say I appreciate the honest, aggressive effort and was pretty satisfied that effectively the battle was a draw (& ALL of your Pilots survived as did the targeted Steam Ship which is actually a Huge WIN!) What I might have for a touch of advice is heavily dependent on if Negative G's are modeled here (obviously blacking out IS modeled, but reding out is WAY Worse!)), if so, rolling to bank Vs. nosing down in a turn should result in less overall G's and a touch more preservation of energy (i.e. Speed). It IS a good thing that the Carburetor (oil physics) isn't modeled yet (but, that would be neat as a realism difficulty setting for the Campaign when it comes into fruition. P.s. This game IS impressively modeled!!! Wolf's Demo had the Pilot's Name even painted on their plane under the canopy. Worth a look to see if that's still true! Good Hunting! 😎
Something I thought I'd never see: a turn based air combat game! I mean with all the dog-fighting sims, I guess this is for old geezers with no twitch reflexes. (Like me.) BUT, then it's confusing to try and fly 'statically' like that. I'd say try some more and see if you get better at it--or if you can just reveal a bit more of the managements side by going along a bit.
Thos looks awesome. Kinda like door kickers with the tactical planning but aerial combat. I wish someone would make a decent movile game like this my pc is broken rn
Enjoyed the play. Are you going to continue Panzer General? I always hate Gamers who play a game long enough to get me interested and do not finish. It's ok if they lose, but to just stop creates a OCD problem for me. rant over
I will return to Panzer General yes. Sorry I had a hunting trip which sortta derailed me and then I got sidetracked with some other stuff which came out.
I wonder why they've gone with Alpha and Bravo for sections. The RAF should be using colours, red, green, blue and yellow.
With green pilots, their traits should be hidden until they're revealed in combat.

Considering Achtung Spitfire is from 1997, I'd be amazed if this one didn't look more polished. :)

That mission is set August 1st so it is still period appropriate.

"Maybe I'll cut throttle and they'll fly right by" works only in Top Gun. :)
Yellow lines on the paths are "not fire risk". You should probably go through tutorial, lol :D

Also, invert to go down. The carburetor cuts out if you nose down and pull negative g

Thank you for showing us this game :)
Is it possible to play as a German squadron leader?
Not at the moment.
You cant play the campaign as the Germans atm, you can play generated missions as them...
WEGO rather than turn based. Simultaneous movement rather than IGOUGO i go then u go. For me that’s a huge difference.
Looks like Achtung Spitfire but in 3D and more confusing

@@thehistoricalgamer Thanks. I hope your hunt was successful and you had a chance to recharge.
.303’s aren’t great for shooting down aircraft, the 109’s have a 20mm nose cannon
No, 109E's have the wing mounted cannons (120 rds. total). Not a lot to play with.
@ going off the nose cone on the 109’s it has a nose cannon, which the E2 had along with the 2 wing 20’s
The Butcher returns.
Once again!
I love this video and this game looks great
great game.
As a long time air combat player, this looks about as fun as a root canal. Turn based Air Combat ! Seriously !!
This looks like a game ud quickly put to one side. Not for me
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
