I've been doing a challenge "Trying to collect every side quests in each world" and wow, there is so much content and lore I missed out. I'm level 30 starting Marleybone, level freakin 30
Hey. I am a side quester in the game by casual means , and I have done all sides on every world. Good luck at the late game it will be tough, and you will need it. It's normal till then side bosses sometimes more deadly than main bosses.
This game is so much fun when you just do stuff that you do cuz you want to. With my group of friends that are new to Wizard, it allows me to nerf myself and try new things. I’m using azoff treasure cards, balance dispels on arc 1 bosses, using polymorphs, duel schooling storm, 50 card decks with mantels, weakness, shields, utility, etc. This game is super fun when you experiment and are not min-maxing everything, it’s fun to not be optimal if you have experience with the game. I think this community needs to experiment more 😅
Man I remember I like playing this game and reading the story because it's fun, but I hate playing with others because they like to mash through it and complain I'm going too slow just cause I'm reading dialogue and not playing "Thuh must Optimal wey!" The story is genuinely interesting and the sidequests get a laugh out of me, if you take the time to read them. It's a shame they do VA for this game only for elitist to skip over it and complain the game's boring. I think the real issue stems from the game being a grindfest, and punishing players constantly for not playing "Optimally" so it turns a lot of longtime players cancerous. And because the grind is so long, players get irritated mid-farm when players do things to slow them down. No I still dont think a set of Dragoon Gear should take 800+ reagents.
Ive returned to Wiz lately, haven't played since i was young, the way you can build your Wiz now is really awesome. Being able to weave all three spirit schools effectively and having a full stacked deck with so many options to choose from is amazing. Haven't seen many others giving "Tri-schooling" a shot unfortunately. 10/10 playstyle, id recommend giving a try sometime
Dude so many games these days have this kind of problem. I wish that solo rewards were more common. If nothing else the community that skips over everything just to spearhead end Game content has gotten out of hand in my opinion.
The worst is when the people that use cheat engine then have the audacity to make it your problem when you're playing the game as intended, like if you team up and they just wipe the dungeon like that was not fun
I’m going through my first run with my myth wizard and I have had bad interactions with some folks cuz I didn’t know some bosses had cheats and they did not properly explain and made me feel a bit crappy. I get how tired veteran players are but as a new player, the community has become toxic to the point where I have not made a consistent friend to quest with in over a year :-( and it does not help that I get burnt out doing the same thing over again.
I’ve speed quested multiple characters however I recently started a new character. My first character was a fire back in the day so I wanted to see what it’s like to solo now a days. It’s been refreshing to play more thoughtful about my health and resources. Playing solo takes longer but is a lot more fun for me
im really sad i wasnt able to do catacombs when leveling up my first max level recently. from what i've seen, the story seems cool, but i dont wanna wait in team up cues for hours, for someone to rush me when i want to listen to the dialogue :(
im so glad you're getting discussion started about this game in 2024 almost 2025 and giving a level headed take. i think kingisle is mostly to blame for this, but i agree that those members of the community complaining about it being stale and then never stepping outside their comfort zone are so annoying.
Players can also "cheat" though.. through pet may casts, pet will casts (effectively 2 spells a turn), and spells like daybreaker and night bringer to instant combo things (or even bypass boss cheats like fellspawn)
So tbh i do roast people's stats (i keep it to myself tho) but the way i look at is different. I look at it so that they dont have a hard time playing the game. Theres alot people that needs a hand because a boss has 150% dmg and 27% pierce, while they have 15% resist. Now that person is boosting more dmg, they're getting bullied and thats not a fun experience when you want to enjoy the story.
they really need to nerf blades and aoes. it sucks all strategy out of the game unless a boss has really strict cheats. obviously nobody wants to grind basic minions fights, but boss battles should be more interesting. me and two friends did the skeleton key boss in the graveyard and I actually had to switch to a full heal build so we wouldn't die because those enemies start with tons of pips and spam aoe attacks and another had to constantly be hitting with 0-2 pip spells to prevent the boss from spamming weaknesses and dots. that was a really fun fight
As someone who uses Deimos (basically cheatengine), I definitely don't think it ruins the game. However, I only play this game a few times a year when I'm on break from university, so I essentially have to use something to speed up the game or I will make no progress (Keep in mind, I'm not one of those people that complains about the game being awful, slow, etc.).
They do have incentives to stay low level, some dungeon drops such as Mali gear at 50, Morganthe, as well as spellements are locked if you progress beyond the next world. I agree more incentives should be made but the community always has unnecessary backlash if they try to change things. Personally I don't mind spellements but many people in the community say "the game died with spellements" which is completely wrong
In addition they can use spellements as incentives in addition to cosmetic gear. For example, solo Mali at 50 and get 50-100 arc 1 spellements. Solo morganthe at 100 and get 50-100 arc 2 spellements. Solo briskbreeze and get spellements from Ravenwood lore pack + winter gear from the Christmas packs Solo tower of helephant and get wysteria lore pack spellements plus cosmetic gear Solo mirror lake and get a free safari themed mount (include the gorillas that used to be arena tickets exclusive) etc
I will admit as a kid I skipped dialogue cause at the time cause it was too boring, but now I understand it. A couple years ago I started a new wiz and let every dialogue play and the game is much more enjoyable. As for the meta idgaf, I’m using whatever spells I want. I’m using earthquake because I hate looking at the damn frog.
Facts, that was a L take. Some people don’t feel like traversing the map without cheat engine cause they already did tons of times before already on previous wizards..
I just wanted to put my 2 cents in because watching this video got me really passionate for some reason. First, I want to say that I agree with what you're saying, but I'm kinda offended in some places, I guess? For example, I'm one of them over efficient type of people in the game. The reason for that is that back in the day waterworks, Tartarus, Darkmoor were really popular and the go-to spots for gear. At that time, people were legit doing recruitments and such, just to have an attempt at doing the dungeon and trying to get gear. If you didn't have good stats, you legit could've been stuck at using shop or crafted gear to progress through the game. Wizard101 instilled the over-efficient mindset in me, but I actually really like it. It makes me feel like I'm on the right track or doing the right thing. If I can kill something in 2 turns or heal enough that a unicorn/pigsie can fully heal my team, then i was good. I knew that I could comfortably progress the game by myself and be in a position to help other people progress the game themselves. P.s. also, I was one of them people who used cheat engine. However, I used for pet training in the dance game. So for making this long❤
This comment perfectly explains my feeling with the game right now. I've got 6 wizards all past level 100 with only my Balance left to get gear from Darkmoor. My Balance was my first wizard ever but playing in the past and going through the terrible experience that was Darkmoor Graveyard team-up i gave up on my Balance and started other classes just to experience leveling up again without having to worry so much about gear. Over the years, each wizard I played with got to Darkmoor and had to grind for gear. And thankfully I was able to get most of my wizards past darkmoor and into higher level gear. However my balance still remained stuck at that same spot from years ago. Recently, I returned to wiz after not having played for 4 years. I decided I wanted to finally move my balance forward from this "stuck" point it's been on. So I picked up the level 100 gear farming routine once more. The experience in Darkmoor still hasn't changed too much in terms of "people leaving mid-dungeon" or "using others to only farm for one thing before leaving the dungeon and abandoning everyone". But I've noticed that finding a team of people to do Darkmoor now, feels dead then how it used to be. Even asking around for a team to do the old Krok/Bones exalted duels is impossible as no one wants to do those anymore. I personally enjoy playing wizard101 by going out of my way to grind for the most optimal gear for each "gear checkpoint" (At level 30: Mount Olympus/ level 60: Waterworks/ level 100: Darkmoor/Bones/Krok). This makes me happy because it makes the game feel "uniform" for me, and each gear checkpoint is a massive step forward in power for the wizard. (Which to me perfectly fits in with the story.) Once I obtain all the gear I need, I can enjoy questing and not feel like I'm struggling to enjoy combat because my gear is terrible. Also, helping other players when properly geared feels so much more rewarding when I get to come in and save someone going through a tough time while encouraging them to try other strategies I've experienced in my years of playing. So now in 2024, my balance feels permanently stuck at level 100 because getting a team to do one-shot duels or darkmoor is absolute aids, and that's also not mentioning how time consuming and terrible the drop rates STILL are for Darkmoor gear (getting pages upon pages of Darkmoor's Herald Gears and Mantles over the countless runs I've done on my Balance). It's completely discouraged me from wanting to continue playing the game because the wizard I WANT to play on is gate-kept by gear progression that is dependent on the player base wanting to join me for a dungeon I can't solo. OR being at the complete mercy of the rng factor of this game which makes me want to pull my hair out.
Id wanna get back into the game so bad... but the EU server where i play on is pretty dead. Starting from 0 on US might be fun, but getting my garden back up for petfood would be so pain :x or getting a first decent pet at all xD
Yeah i really don't like following the meta in games too much, i like to use the tools i have and play my own way. But even with this game, there isn't too much variety that helps you play the game better. The bazaar gear or mob gear is not too good, the dungeon gear is a necessity. But the community was very helpful with how to do things and grinding the stuff, now they just kinda expect you to know this stuff or having particular stuff to do this faster, and people don't talk until u mess up. Also gems and pet attributes are pretty straight forward, because crit jewels and flat damage jewels are useless if you have access to pierce jewels of any kind and 170 has damage jewels which outdoes that. And the only pet builds that are good for overall use are damage pets (or hybrid resist damage pets) and maycasts are too rng reliant for the most part. Basically the game is too straightforward even considering the AoEs because there are not too many ways to play the game to the end, and the advanced content is too hard to get into gear wise. It definitely shows that the devs do not know listen to feedback.
Listen listen listen, you have a month’s membership right. I’ve wanted to get through this game for over a decade now. 2 weeks ago I bought my first ever membership. I am now level 150 and am running through karamelle. Im just not trying to waste any more money on this game, sooo I’ve devoted my last few weeks to this game. I won’t lie, there have been points where I’ve wanted to quit, but at the end of the day, the community steps in and helps me. So that’s what I’ve gotta say. The game’s questing system is awfully repetitive, and it makes me want to end myself, but, I would not still be here without the wiz community.
this entire game is just either a grind-fest by speedrunning quests and min-maxing or its a cash grab trying to get the best pvp gear, stat mounts, cosmetics, etc.
I've been doing a challenge "Trying to collect every side quests in each world" and wow, there is so much content and lore I missed out. I'm level 30 starting Marleybone, level freakin 30

So real, I'm starting to do all the side quests on my ice wizard, it's actually quite rewarding to get a bunch of them done :D

I use cheat engine but only when gardening. Those garden spells are slow AF.
Facts, especially mandatory for gardening 💯💯
which one is that? do we not wait around for them to finish with animations then?

6:10 you have no idea how excited I was when they added solo badges in karamelle, and then they never did it again

I love your cute avatar 😔

Hating on people using CE is crazy 😂😂 I love the game and just don’t feel like walking everywhere after having tons of maxes.

i think you just like the sound of your own voice. What ate you going on about? dafuq
