That's a massive mod. You can get a lot of mileage out of just reducing the bass frequencies going into the clipping section, and lowering the gain a bit. That, if done right, leaves you with everything most love about the BD-2, and eliminates the things that bug many people about it. If you're going to make that many changes, might as well do the Machine Head Pedals Galaxie mod.
Another great video Joe. Please keep em coming. I'd love to see a video on adding transformers to fuzz pedals. I don't really understand how that works tbh.
Hello mate, thank you for your interest. Unfortunately this pedal sold about 5 seconds after posting this video. I will be doing a few more of these after the amount of interest in this one. Would you like me to give you notice before they are finished?
I wish Brian would update the book with editing an organization. The Scrapbook quality of the original has its charm though. My copy is quite chewed up (in a good way)
@@hellosailoreffectsofficial I’m sure he quite a few new insights as well. In the original, I wonder if he’d pulled some of the mods out of his A%$. I wonder what he’d keep and what he’d ditch. I didn’t have the time or resources to try everything. In the books defense, a lot of what made it fun was sorting through the stuff and having to just “go for it.”
@chrisquinn9104 Yeah that's it. The book made me have a go. When I first purchased it I had no blue how circuits worked so I learnt a ton. I bet he would have a load to add when it comes to SMD too.
Have you ever thought of bypassing the three band eq in the middle of the circuit, I messed with the mids part and it added gain and I wonder if just taking it out entirely would make it more fuzzy
@@hellosailoreffectsofficial I'll be honest I tried some other mod for gain that I can't even remember that was annoyingly subtle and I sold it before thinking of doing the bypass eq thing instead lol

awwww you're too kind Joe :)
Your very welcome mate. I'm extremely grateful for all the content you have put out over the years.

Hey Joe!!!! Thank you for posting this. HelloSailorEffects RULE 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thank you mate 🙏 I really appreciate the kind words.
Dam strait they do!!!
@neilsmith5464 Thank you Neil 🙏 much love.
I'd love to see somd mods on a few of the more budget clones too 😉👍 great vid as always gent
I really need to do this after the success of my Vintage Overdrive mod. I have one of the VooDoo Octave pedals on order for exactly this. Cheers mate.
Another great video Joe. Please keep em coming. I'd love to see a video on adding transformers to fuzz pedals. I don't really understand how that works tbh.
Thank you mate. I will most definitely do that. I'm going to do a cheap fuzz mod video and I'll definitely do the transformer thing in it.
Swwet. Thanks Joe.
Hey Joe, this is cool!
Thank you Mike, that's very kind of you to say.
Hey I've git to say I love the kits you have put out in the world. Nicely done.
Not sure if you'll see this @seekereffects but your video on how to tune a Tone Bender Mk1 was a huge help on my recent build. Thanks dude.
@@jonnywassober7008 I concur it's an amazing video Mike.
I always heard it referred to as, “tinning the tip”, however, your way sounds more fun 😂
Ha ha ha ha, thank you mate.
Great video. In Brian we trust 😀
Thank you mate. He's an absolute legend.
You need three things. 1) cash 2) Joe 3) pedal to modify. As a pongo I would only work with big crayons.
Ha ha ha ha ha love it mate. I need to do a video with my soldering iron photoshopped into a crayon now!
Great video!
Thank you mate. Are you going to have a go at modifying your own BD2? I'm really interested to see how people get on.
@@hellosailoreffectsofficial Ah, probably not anytime soon. I’m too busy with my own stuff (Circuitous FX). I love learning things like this though!
Well there’s my handsome dude!!!! I love the BD-2
Thanks mate your too kind! Me too mate it's a fantastic pedal & I'm still not sure which one I prefer out of the two comparisons?
0:24 had me spitting out my coffee ;) Nicely done
Ha ha thank you mate. I thought it was funny too.
Nice one Joe! Enjoyed that mate. Just off to wet my tip now.....
Ha ha ha thank you mate. I may need to wet my tip again tonight too.....
Wetting the tip. Hello sailor, indeed.
Ha ha ha ha I have always called it that! It was only as I was filming that the penny dropped.
@@hellosailoreffectsofficial on a more grownup note, it's a pity we didn't get to hear your mod with the gain wide open. This thing has so much gain.
@Mr_Gray_Sky I'll do more of them mate. Actually I may have a video of it I can post on Instagram if your interested?
@@hellosailoreffectsofficial that would be great!
@@Mr_Gray_Sky No problem mate
Has this pedal been placed for sale? I do not see it on your Web page????

Quite possibly mate. That would certainly be an interesting mod. I'd love to know if you ever do it.
@@hellosailoreffectsofficial I'll be honest I tried some other mod for gain that I can't even remember that was annoyingly subtle and I sold it before thinking of doing the bypass eq thing instead lol
@heggy_69 Ha ha I dothis all the time!
Just reduce the bass. The bass is essentially on 10, and that's a crap ton of bass going into the clipping section.
@@augustusbetucius2931 yeah but you'd probably have less gain too, my thinking was I just wanted more gain lol
Boss knob looks more elegant
I thought so too mate. I just couldn't bring myself to put them back on ha.
How do I tell if it’s “really old.?”
