I was a Christian and know first hand how we are told to lie and pretend to convert to Islam. Why? So we can leave the religion and bring things like that guy did. Why? To make it look bad and not credible. That is why I left. Also, after receiving a masters in world religions, I came to know the truth. After seeking it sincerely and turning my face to God and asking him to guide me to wherever the truth was. I studied, sat with various religious figures, read all holy books, I converted to Islam. Alhamdulillah.

I watched the Abu Adam video.. the way he spoke with emotion plus his title of 16 years Islam. Then I linked what he said with what extreemists in Nigeria do ( cupturing school girls to marry and radicalize) and I thought it made sense. I thought the extremists live true to their book.
Then I came across this guy. I almost passed this as desparate apologetic but somehow he looked composed and his language and mannerism cool so I watched some more. I had to pause and go back to watch Abu Adam's entire video the I came back to watch this video in full.
That's when I saw the sense. You cannot pick a verse out of context and draw emotional conclusions. The passage does not talk about whether it is okay to rape captives or not. It talks about wether it is permissible to marry war captive. And I think the prophet really was very wise in his ruling.
If you decide to take your wife and children to war field ( I wonder why someone would do that) and you are killed and they are taken captive... Would you rather have them abandoned, killed or would you rather have them treated with dignity and even remarried and assimilated in that culture. It is unfortunate extreemists associate with Islam. I love true and faithful muslims. I love true and faithful Jews. I love true and faithful christians. And I love schorlarly minds. I bow to one true and eternal God. The creator and sustainer of all things.

I’m pleased you understand this very well. Plus God gave Muhammad that ruling, as Muhammad always wait for revelations before acting and if he should act beforehand, he’s chastised by God immediately. There’s an example where God said “ and they asked you about the last day, in what position are you ( Muhammad) to give them an answer. Only God directs affairs and he reveals what decision the prophet should take.

they brought their women and children to to fill the support role in war. they also make the men in the front line more desperate to protect people behind them.
aside from assimilating them into the culture, this ruling also give fear factor, making the enemy of Islam hesitant to wage war against muslim, because they either have to reduce their power by not bringing support, or bringing their women and children as support and risking getting them captured by Muslim

So I suppose some people need background here on this event.
Those who know me, will have seen me discussing some of his claims about 7 months ago, and so they will know I've dealt with him before and have experience with him.
Ismaeel had a lot of problems when it came to understanding Islam, and became very combative when disagreed with. For sometime, when he first joined Islam he became a hardcore Salafi. He spent many years in this understanding of Islam before getting burnt out and by making a 180 degree change. He then became an extreme Sufi, follow a completely different set of teachings, principles and beliefs. He found himself doing the same as he did when he was a Salafi, by arguing and debating people he viewed as following the wrong Islam.
It's important to note that he has had no formal training in Islam and so every time he jumped from one group to another, with each group vastly different from the other, he became less grounded in Islam and more grounded in argumentation. Finally, he also burnt himself out in being a Sufi and became a Qur'an-only follower. This however, was very short lived. Since I sort of know the history of the Qur'an and its manuscript tradition, I was able to explain how and why he was wrong. At that point in time he fundamentally did not grasp what a harf was, or what a qira'ah was. Yet he insisted on arguing about the topic.
Shortly after our public discussion he quit Facebook for a few months. When he returned, he began posting about Judaism and the problems he had with some Islamic beliefs. He seemed to indicate that he was combining bits and bobs from Islam and Judaism, thus falling out of Islam and creating a personal religion of some sort. He followed through on these ideas and whilel still identifying with monotheism, finally made the jump outside of Islam altogether recently.
So what has happened was not unexpected, it is not something that suddenly occurred, he has always had difficulty grounding himself in Islam and he jumped from one sect to another, time and time again. Finally, after being banned from his local Masjid and being ostracized from his community due to his extreme swings in beliefs and his manner of obstinate argumentation, he's finally publicly come out as leaving Islam. It's a foregone conclusion that this would have happened due to his previous behavioural patterns and when confronted, he usually ran to the excuse he'd studied Islam for X number of years.
Whatever faith he joins next, he'll jump from one sect to another. It just seems like he prefers his own religion rather than following an already established one. Reminds me of this ayah of the Qur'an:
"Indeed those who believe, then disbelieve and then again believe, then again disbelieve, and go further in their disbelief - Allah will never forgive them, nor ever guide them to the path." - 4:137.
    Regards,
    Br. Ijaz

@@uthmanhanif6321 and surely all those female prisioners of war were consenting to these "short term marriages"? It was surely their plan to which they had been looking forward for years - to marry their enemies, who fought and maybe killed their husbands and sons? The term "the women that your right hand holds" makes it clear that the Musim men held this women prisioners - plese do not lie to yourself that these female prisioners were consenting to marry their captors (hhave you ever been a prisioner of war? Or your sister, mother?)

    • @deoviteresantein3670
      @deoviteresantein3670 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@uthmanhanif6321 Mohammed is often compared to Moses. But in Christianity, Moses in the Old Testament represents only the basic foundations of morality ("do not steal, do not covet" etc). In the New Testament, instead, the prophet Jesus revealed the full extent of God’s standard of morality, based on the nature of God's love: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person…If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well” Mathew 5:38) Not doing anything harmful to your neighbor is basic morality - but loving your neighbor to the point of sacrificing yourself for his or her needs (as Jesus did sacrificing himself for humanity) is a major leap ahead for morality: The New Testament teaches to love your enemies ("If your enemy is hungry, feed him” Romans 12:20 “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you” Luke 6:27) Mohammed taught instead to take your enemies prisoners or kill them (or marry “temporarily” their wives (?) as it is commanded in the many "verses of the sword" in the Quran, such as Sura 5:33. When God’s enemies came for him, Jesus told his disciples: "put up your sword" (Mathew 26:52) and never held a sword. Mohammed instead told his disciples: "take up your sword" (Sura 2:190) and took up the sword himself. Christianity during its first 3 centuries spread and conquered the Roman empire only through preaching. Islam instead during its first 3 centuries conquered the Roman empire through the sword. The Christian military conquests like the Crusades were against Jesus' teaching and example, and are therefore today condemned as historical and theological errors by Christians - just like Muslims consider an error anything against Mohamed’s teaching or example. The Crusades were also against the examples of Christs first disciples and founders of the Church (Peter or Paul were Christianity's "rightly guided caliphs", if you will ☺) and so again are condemned as an error because they deviate from the apostle's teaching in the Bible. Muslim military conquests instead are not considered and error, since they follow the teaching and example of Mohammed and his first disciples like Abu Bakr, Omar, Usman - who all led military conquests. Christians have asked forgiveness of victims to their past violence. Has any Muslim asked forgiveness of victims of their past violence? Christian missionaries in the past like Patrick, Boniface, Anskar, Gregory and hundreds more up to more recent history (like nuns, medical missionaries) went among the the "barbarians" and infidel peoples preaching and serving their needs by founding orphanages, leprosaries, hospitals - and often dying as martyrs while serving their killers. Are there any historical parallels of Muslim missionaries doing the same service among infidel peoples? Where are in history the hospitals, orphanages, leprosaries built abroad among infidels by Muslims? Rather, the treatment for the infidels exemplified by Mohammed and early disciples was basically military conquest (Muslims are only now founding hospitals etc abroad in lands not ruled by Muslims, following Christ’s and his disciples’ example - certainly not Mohammed’s or his companion's example. So, indeed Mohammed can be compared to Moses - a prophet who taught basic morality to a savage people. But in comparison to Christ, Mohammed is an involution - for the highest morality in the Quran is a step backward to the Old Testament's basic "an eye for an eye" and, though proclaiming that God is compassionate, misses the teaching and example of God's higher love that is expounded in the New Testament, which complements and supersedes the basic justice of "an eye for an eye" taught in the Old Testament - and which have lead thousands of Jesus'' followers to offer their lives in service and martyrdom among infidels - not while fighting against them, but while serving them.

    Want to know something amusing?
People claim that they are wise, and on the right path, but when they watch videos like this, they get hateful. Even at the face of evidence, reason and logic, they deny it, and turn their backs. They are afraid of the truth, and they hate how right this person in the video is. Why?
Because they fear that they have now one less reason to hate Islam. And so the story goes, the more they listen to actual scholars and learned people of Islam, the less and less they have to hate about Islam. In the end they stand there, dumbfounded, realizing that they were ignorant all along. But before this happens, they feel foolish, and people hate to feel foolish and betrayed (by their churches, or what have you), so they go in denial, and start hating Islam even more.
Then again, to ignorance are many layers, and you need to peel off quite a few to even use your reasoning to begin with. Most people will not watch this entire video, and even if they do, they wont believe anything they hear from the man, as if the evidence is less trustworthy depending on whom it comes from. However, the evidence is there for them to see, clear as day, if they care to know the truth, that is.
This is not the sign of an honest and wise person. The wise and honest person would have been intrigued by this video, and start to expand his mind by learning more, and most importantly he would say "Maybe I was wrong about Islam". But the ignorant will never say such a thing.

      1) Just implicit? Are you forgetting the hadith about Muhammad's men coming to him regarding "azl" with the "excellent Arab women" captives? Where Muhammad assured his men they don't have to take the precaution of using coitus interruptus? Is that not an EXPLICIT permission to rape? You are REALLY dancing around and playing lawyer games if you don't admit this is PERMISSION to rape captives. What? Because is is not SPELLED OUT anywhere that they "may rape captive women"? His men went to Muhammad for PERMISSION and he said "don't worry about it, what Allah has decreed will be".
      2) Don't give me this crap about a single instance and "context". You know as well as I that the captive women were divvied up after virtually every conquest. Banu Qurayza, Banu Mustaliq, Kaybar, etc.
Plus, if this truly was a special case and not a blanket permission for the future, don't you think all-knowing Allah would have SPECIFIED this and made sure future Muslims don't take it as a general guideline? The radicals would say YOU are ascribing to Allah fallibility in this regard.
3)What? You counter these "implicit" permission by saying they don't hold up if they are contradicted by explicit commands to NOT rape in the Qur'an, but you fail to PROVIDE any! You IMPLY that there is a proscription against raping captives in the Qur'an, but of course none exists. All there is there is instructions on how to treat slaves, NOT any rules about whether or not you can rape them. And if you don't TELL a slave owner he can't rape his "right-hand possession", only a fool would say he was not allowed to. A slave must do as her master commands, right?
      4) Did you just try to argue that these Qur'anic verses and sahih hadith accounts are to be ignored, since they are in conflict with the writings of early classical Islamic scholars? Did you just try to make that argument, when you and I know full well which sources trump which in this regard? You know damn well that no "scholar's interpretation" can supersede these sources, and you would dismiss such arguments in a second if they went against your thesis.
Weak arguments, and likely just taqiyya.

I grew up in a non religious household. I've always believed in God but never cared for religion. I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist which ultimately led me to study Christianity which is a long story in itself but I want to keep this brief as possible. While researching I noticed many inconsistencies and always had a issue with the holy Trinity that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Fast forward to yesterday after years of not following any religion, I took the Shahada alone in my room. I've always believed in one God, Allah. and after learning just a little bit about Islam becoming a Muslim just feels right to me. I really don't know much about it but as I learn my beliefs are being confirmed. I did a little research before taking the Shahada and the fact that the Quran cannot be contradicted played a big part for me, since I've always had my own issues with the idea of Jesus being the son of god and other inconsistencies in the bible which the Quran seems to contextualise. The fact that the words in the Quran are exactly what Muhammad (praise be upon him) heard from Allah and that message has been passed down in perfect translation from teacher to teacher for over 1400 years is proof of the divine. And personally what I think it comes down to is the worshipping of idols when there is only one God worthy of worshiping, Allah. And praise be to the prophet Muhammad. I will continue to learn about Islam and try to become a better Muslim as I grow and mature I also plan to go to a mosque and do the Shahada with a Imam and make it official. Please leave any video links for information about Islam for beginners. Alhamdulillah.

As a non muslim and, to be honest, occasional critic of Islam based on what I read from quran, hadiths and what information is available etc and with the lack of decent responses from many muslims online (either on comments, or even through some sites like islamhq), it's great to see someone here go in detail defending Islam and using rational arguments and logic to counter points made. I haven't seen all the video as yet, but will certainly do so and look forward to other videos the author has made to get a counter balance to the huge volume of anti islamic material available.
I'm not saying I'll be swayed one way or the other, just saying happy to have found someone who can provide counter arguments in a measured and steady manner.
I would be particularly interested if the author here reviews key videos from Acts17Apologetics (David Wood), who makes very convincing videoes (at least to the likes of myself who are not that detail in knowledge of Islam) and present his counter arguments.

      copteralien,
It wasn't necessarily called 'Islam' at the time; to have Islam as your Deen (way of life - not just 'a religion') is to believe in *One* God, i.e. *Monotheism*, which has been from the beginning of time. With your logic (and I assume you're Christian) Adam and Eve were not Christians as Judaism 'got there first'. Muslims have to believe in the previous Holy scriptures (before they were changed) including the Torah and the Gospel (not the Bible), and all the previous prophets (peace be upon them) - including Jesus (peace be upon him) up to Muhammad (peace be upon him).

      Let me get this straight:
He repeated the other man’s argument and he quoted Tafsir Ibn Kathir Vol 2 p422, which explains that Muslim men were not happy to have sex with the captive women because they already had living husbands. Then Muhammad revealed Q4:24 which says you can have sex with married captive women even if their husbands are alive. (around 3min 46 seconds into this video) “consequently we had sexual relations with these women” while their husbands were still alive.
(Around the 7 minute mark) He says:
“This argument is an implicit argument... there are actually no explicit statements to say that any female war captive was ever raped by any Muslim man...
Women who were war captives were protected from this behaviour and they were NEVER raped.”
That’s an astonishing ridiculous claim, especially given the quote from Ibn Kathir which he just read which explicitly said they had sex with the women even though they were married and their husbands were still living.
He is making the ludicrous assertion that all those women had consensual sex with the Muslim men...?!?!?!?!?
Then - his ‘historical’ evidence he presents (around 10 minutes into the video) was written hundreds of years after the events - by a Muslim.
      That’s not credible evidence.
I was willing to give the video a chance, but that’s pathetic.
      -------
      -------
Finally - he creates a different problem for Islam:
He says all the women were given back.
I really doubt that happened, but let’s say it did: what that means is that he is saying Allah and the Quran teach that fornication and adultery with captive married women is ok, that you can have consensual sex with captive married women while their husbands are alive, and then return the women afterwards.
So he is saying the Quran teaches a type of free love military prostitution/sex trade.
He didn’t solved the problem of immoral teaching in the Quran.

it bothered me a brother I once loved to watch went and denounced Islam. He was such a wonderful man. Thank allahu subhana wa ta alah that I found a brother that responded and really helped. When I saw that video I was so sad because I was like watching his other recent videos. He says he doesn't agree with what the prophet would have done to Muslims today that don't go to pray on Fridays at the mosques and what kind of a creator would make him a prophet and I'm here like HES DONE SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS AND YOUR DISMISSING HIS AUTHENTICITY BECAUSE OF WHAT HE WOULD SUPPOSEDLY DO TO MUSLIMS TODAY. Then belittling the lord for appointing him... I thought to myself. Of all the wonderful experiences you've had because of this but because of what you think he would have done had he been alive today you turn your back on the messenger and the creator? Simply because you don't agree with one thing, that if you think about has actually nothing to do with following the path itself. Even if someone did disagree in that manner.... I see very few points in Islam that I disagree. no points actually. but he has a few. not too many. enough to separate him from Allah apparently butwhile with those few issues. think of how many issues he saw in regular every day life of the people who don't fear god. Like I see so much wrong with so much going on today... I'm sure as a Muslim he would have agreed. now take those few points that he doesn't grasp yet honestly and trade them for all those points of why you brought Islam into your life. He traded his wealth for error... Make dua for him please.

Actually, this video doesn't really answer the problem which addressed by brother ismail. I think, surah 4:24 which addressed by brother ismail is valid question. It clearly states that muslim cannot marry married woman except those whom your right hands possess. Furthermore, from Quran 23:6 it is allowed to have sex with their wives and their right hands possess. From these two ayah, we know that it is ok to have sex with right hand possess, i.e. a slave or captive woman. But these ayah seems depict "a culture" of that time, which is, happened at that time. It could be raped or married, or what ever it is, we don't know. However, if we go back in time, if two parties has a war, then the winning party will do whatever they do to the defeated party. I mean, those captives could be killed or whatever, including become a slave. I mean, there is no such a thing as rape for a master who has slave woman. Those slave has no freedom what so ever (and so they have no right at all), they are just "their properties". Considering the slave woman similar as "free woman" is doesn't make sense at all historically.
Then in this video, an evidence is given from umar who gave a death pinalty for someone who rape a slave girl by stoning to death, that cannot be used as evidence because Umar was not talking about the quranic teaching but his role as a leader or khalifah. I mean, of course as khalifah, he can make decree to punish someone if he thinks it is necessary. Furthermore, from the case of mut'ah married which is legal for shia and haram for sunni, that practice is considered haram by Umar so that he prohibited (however, from shia side that mut'ah married is allowed in Quran, but sunni side argue that it was already abrogated by prophet.. This is ridiculous because how come hadith can abrogate the scripture (quran)?).
My point here is that, not everything that states in the Quran can be applied to our modern lives because we have different "moral standard", "human right", etc. In fact, Quran itself teach us "to follow the best of what's revealed to you from your lord.." (39:55), so that we have to follow what is best for us. So, to answer brother ismaeel is simple, "If it is what happened in the past so be it, but now, we cannot apply it anymore because we have different era and not all ayah in Quran can be applied in our time". Those muslims who think "everything in the quran can be applied to our times" is actually not using their brain to think.

  • @dormantrabbits

Most people today don't understand the purpose of marriage in the ancient world. It was an imperfect solution to protect women because of their unequal social standing. If they didn't have a husband (protector), they would end up destitute and probable resort to prostitution. This was a common strategy back then to prevent the decline of society.
Marriage wasn't about love, and it didn't always lead to sex right away if at all. That's why many ancient religions used to permit marriage of young women and polygamy. It was a male dominated society on a global scale, and women had no means of supporting themselves.
This is a decent rebuttal, but it doesn't address why women need this protection in the first place. Shouldn't Muhammad just say respect women and stop treating them like property if he was a true prophet of god? Just my thoughts.

      @catsandmusic4635 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Don't forget Muhammad ﷺ came at a time where this patriachal society was a problem, so he had to deal with the problem. Simply saying "respect women" wouldn't solve the problem, he was realistic, and took a gradualistic approach to solving this issue as with many issues.

Then he went to Islam proclaimed his "truths" for 16 years and is now finding Islam to be false. Look it when you're a supposed Christian minister and go to Islam Muslim organizations want to hear your story, same when you're ex Muslim who turns Christian. These organizations pay to hear your story to uplift their followers. Ministry involves big money and I tell you that ex Muslim guy is just after fame. Like it's required to come in blaspheming someone elses beliefs for them to accept the conversation, and it's very annoying because it makes me think they are simply afraid, and experiencing some serious cognitive dissonance, they insist on being intellectually dishonest, they act like I'm playing the advocate for the literal devil and his hoards, but demonstrate that they know very little about it. I don't know what to do about that but it frustrates me that I "have to" agree with lies around people who insist that they only deal in truth. I am a former Muslim, was one for 3 years and recently I decided that I truly have not found a religion to be the true religion. As a former Christian and Muslim I must say that slavery is disgusting in anyway. The way this video tries to debunk does so in a way that makes no sense, defending slavery by saying "Well they were treated really good", so owning a person is okay just as long as you treat them well. Imagine if a person abducted someone who went on their property would it be right for them to abduct them if they treated them good? Obviously slavery is against a persons will no matter how good they are treated, since they are considered property. How can you say it's okay for slavery to be a thing when they are just treated okay? In our modern view most people cannot justify slavery today, yet Islam is supposed to be a religion for all time not just when it was founded. Yet slavery is incompatible with our modern society. Also claiming that a man was deemed to be stoned to death for having sex with a slave that was given to him as a gift is a barbaric act on all sides, imagine getting stoned to death. Imagine having rocks be THROWN not hit at you till you die. What a horrible way to die, today that is crime against humanity and brutal. I would rather just be shot then have a step above being beaten to death by fists. Religion is not this PG rated beautiful story it's actually a horrible story of murder, rape, mutilations, conquest, and all in the promise of eternal paradise. Islam may not have things like explicit rape or murder. but it has things that are just cruel or disturbing. I am very blessed to live in the USA which is the best nation on earth in my opinion, no one has the right to kill me here because of me writing this and if they do kill me the law will make sure real justice is done. Sorry I don't actually see it correct for you to be beheaded, mutilated, stoned, or crucified for your wrongdoing, but if the court sentences you to it may not be painless but it'll be way better than a stoning.

Slavery is a child of war. What aspect of War is beautiful? Islam is the only pre-modern religion that restricts slavery and encourages freeing of slaves.
If modern ethics are so superior, ask your self one simple question.
What do you do when you defeat your enemies (people who try to kill you) and they leave their women and children behind with littlento no protection or sustenance? How do you look after those left over after battle without burdening yourself or your country. The answer is you randsom them back to their families or take them in and put them to work.
      What would you do?
      1. Leave them to struggle and or starve (ie Afghanistan)
      2. Put the captives in mass intermnent camps/prisons (I think this is worse, becuse it is far more depressing)
      3. Allocate the prisoners to serve individual families and incorporate the former citizens of enemy countries into your society while providing avenues for them to earn their freedom.

@@1993muth I completely have forgotten and do not remember this comment I made over 4 years ago, since then my views, beliefs, and understanding of many things has changed drastically. I will reply to your comment in a way that does not necessarily endorse or defend from my original position but from my current position and understanding. As stated in my first comment I had been a Christian prior to Muslim and that this is my religious upbringing and background. At least awhile ago I wanna say around 2019-2020 I became a Christian again, and as such I will argue from this perspective.
I would strongly disagree with your statement on the restriction of slavery in pre-modern religion as Christianity is a religion that is easily argued to not endorsing slavery. While Christians, churches, theologians, and so on have endorsed slavery up until the 19th century I find it hard pressed to show within the New Testament the endorsement of the enslavement of others. Yes, Christ for example tells slaves on multiple occasions to obey their masters, but the reality is Christianity spread through the lower rankings of the population of the Roman Empire including the slaves. Islam is a religion that used, endorses, and was influenced heavily by war.
Your question regarding the treatment and handling of women and children after a war only works in the cruel and harsh reality of the pre-modern world. All suffering, humiliation, and sin is born of original sin of Adam and Eve, and the harsh reality of this being something that was done can be found in things like the Old Testament and even Islam. I would argue that unlike The Old Testament and Islam Christianity acknowledges the harsh reality of life and its cruelness while calling for us to live above it despite the pain and suffering it may cause. I think the biggest lesson of slavery that surely missed those who enslaved people is that the problems they tried to solve by using slavery caused more problems down the line that could easily have been avoided.

@@zacharybatten Slavery and War are discouraged in Isam. The Quran teaches us If other tribes or nations incline towards peace, then seek peace. Avoiding conflict and freeing slaves is encourage in the Quran. Neither the Bible nor the Quran forbid slavery out right, but they did regulate it to limit abuse. Keep in mind, the slaves in the Quran are exclusively prisoners ( who once served enemies who never inclined towards peace). If we put that in context and compare it to modern prisoners In the 20th and 21st century you will be surprised how backwards the world still is.
People still get owned today (through debt and compounding interest). Wars still rage, only instead of capturing people, countries are just bombing everyone including civilians, kids and women. Tell me is that any better? Is murder of civilians any better.
Lastly, I pray God (Allah) guides you back to the strait path. If you belive God is the most just and forgiving you can't believe in original sin. They are completely incompatible.

This still does not answer why it was permissible in that moment to have "sexual relations" even if the women were consenting and the slave women and children they captured were now married under Islam, imagine now being the brothers and fathers they have come back in their shame for their woman and children back, Muhmmed was like "yea alright guys let them all go" and that woman goes back to her Father, her brother, her uncle, potentially her husband, with another mans splooge between her legs. This is blatant sexual immorality, please can someone answer this I don't care if it was under the guise of "marriage" this is not morally okay to have "sexual relations" with another mans daughter, another mans sister another mans wife and then send her back like nothing happened. So now if you come and tell me "well they asked for them back" would that mean then if they didn't ask those woman are just "yours" now because you won a war? Cause as shown in the video that Muhammed frees slaves as evidence, why didn't Muhammed just free them before the "sexual relations" why did he wait until he was asked, why does he not stay consistent one day he instantly frees slave the next he frees when he is asked or can use them in a hostage situation "your woman and children or 1million dollars". I mean no disrespect I'm just curious Please can someone help answer.

There is actually a response video by Dr Haitham talaat and the response to this if the captive were to be atheist the Muslim should never touch her but as a Christian or a Jewish woman they can be a right hand position but if they are okay with it if not then they would write down a book (divorce) and the man would pay referendum and help her financially but if the woman was consent and decided to convert then the marriage is legitimate another thing to bare in mind if she was promised or married then she wouldn't be touched and even after wars Muslims could release those captives out of generosity but if they were Muslim captives in the other side then an exchange would happen and as well the fact that if you rape a right hand position this means you will punished by adultery because the right position didn't consent to this and especially if promised or married and even if logically the man who sees a Jewish - Christmas woman with a child that always sticks with her he should immediately know she is married to someone and he should never be near her but if she was promised to someone and didn't obey her terms of relationship it's her fault because she didn't provide the soldier who had her as a right hand position this information nor even told him it's like me not saying "I am not single"in times of war and especially you don't know any information about this right hand position you have so the Jewish - Christian captive should tell them and the Muslim man that she is promised or either married but if she didn't even say that then it's her fault if on propose it's literally her fault and I don't know how it will be unintentional.

I am not sure what the full motives were with Converted2Islam leaving Islam. I have read the passages and as a non Muslim, I took them to mean that Muhammad had used his position of prophet to speak with Allah and there was revealed a method for soldiers to have sexual relations with captives without violating the general moral code that had been revealed earlier. For a non Muslim, this is at best shaky, dubious ethics. Beyond that, Islam when taken literally, will have a tough time finding a respected place in modern cultures. Christianity would likewise have a difficult time if it were taken literally, but the thing is; it isn't taken literally and hasn't been for several centuries. In fact, the literal interpretation of Christianity is fading more and more as time passes and the modern world becomes more sophisticated. So, if one collection of passages did not dissolution Converted2Islam, there may have others that eventually did.

Could please elaborate further on what parts of Islam "when taken literally, will have a tough time finding a respected place in modern cultures" with examples or something? • @WhtetstoneFlunky
      @WhtetstoneFlunky 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

TheProjektNemesis The one that I think about first is the striking of a wife, as suggested in the Quran. Dominating women by physical force is a problem. There is also the concept of a wife having specific duties and the husband having his duties. This is an archaic mindset. It doesn't necessarily fail in modern cultures, but it doesn't help an ideology to be embraced by a modern culture either. There are a number of problems besides that. Any time there is a tenet to recognize people based on their religion, or lack thereof, there can be problems in cultures that have freedom of religion.

    • @WhtetstoneFlunky
      @WhtetstoneFlunky 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Youssef Tammam I am familiar with Islamic history. Once upon a time Islam could lift certain archaic cultures. The problems I mention comes from Quranic passages colliding with 21st century sensibilities.

    • @WhtetstoneFlunky
      @WhtetstoneFlunky 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Youssef Tammam I think I could safely argue that the Islamic law book had a great deal of difficulty fitting in various locations. Often it was made to fit in by force after dominating militarily. Just because a particular outside force took dominance over a people, that does not mean that there might not have been something as good, or even better, had there been no dominance.

    • @WhtetstoneFlunky
      @WhtetstoneFlunky 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Youssef Tammam It seems to me that you are saying that since Islam came to dominate regions of the world, then it was beneficial to those cultures it came to dominate. I am saying that isn't necessarily true. As for a culture being better than another culture, what are the deciding factors? Is the contemporary Japanese culture better than the Saudi culture? I would say it is but that is basing it on my perspective and sensibilities. The person living in Saudi Arabia might look at Japanese culture as amoral and in need of Sharia law.

What is truly amusing about this argument is how illogical it is. It's first element is a statement that no non-Muslim captive woman was ever raped - then (possibly realizing that the absurdity of this claim) he says there is no concrete endorsement by Mohhamed of a specific instance after clarifying the class permission. Really? That's like setting the rule: Kids you must head up to your class as soon as you hear the buzzer. According to this logic, there is no proof that kids head to class at the sound of the buzzer, unless the rule book also has the following concrete example: "And you Billy are a good boy because you went to your class as soon as you heard the buzzer. " Who is EFDawah? Than he states falsely that a claim was made that the captured women had their husbands with them. No such claim was made. The salient point was simply that these women were not widowed in these sense that their husbands were alive (possibly hidden in the mountains), Mohammed was not "hopping" for the return of the missing husbands (which should strike anyone with an ounce of intelligence as highly unlikely). Converted or submissive representatives of the rebels negotiated the return of some of the women captives, but the discussed text does not refer to the return of female captives to any single non-Muslim and non-repentant rebel. Mohammed appears to have been "generous" with those he managed to convert through force. ""Those who surrendered themselves" (who chose between property or honor) are converts - Muslims We get that. It's also shocking how this guy gushes over the story that Mohammed gave the captive women the "choice" of staying in the households of their captors, or going back to the humiliated in battle husbands. That's true feminism for you! But the icing on the cake of this preposterous argument is that because Mohammed said somewehere that you should be good to (among other people) your slaves - that means not to clothe and feed them according to their basic needs but also seek their permission when you feel like having sex with them. That's the point EFDawash: if concrete examples are what should give us guidance, tell us where in the Koran is the instruction that sexual relations with slaves require their consent? How about an example of a devout Muslim EVER in history being punished for raping one of his non-Muslim slaves? EVER? You are so lying, it makes me puke just watching. I wonder what kind of status this ability to fudge the Islamic texts gives you among Muslims. So correct us here EFDawah: you say that a Christian (not-converted to Islam) slave could marry a non-believer and her slave-owner was supposed to facilitate this? Have you lost your mind? How about:
    "Do not marry idolatresses (al mushrikāt) till they believe;
and certainly a believing maid is better than an idolatress even though
she would please you; and do not marry idolaters (al Mushrikīn) till
they believe (hata yūminū), and certainly a believing slave is better
than an idolater, even though he would please you. These invite to the
Fire, and Allah invites to the Garden and to forgiveness by His grace,
and makes clear His revelations to mankind so that they may remember.”Qur’an 2:221.
This video is a very good example of crafty muddling of an argument out of any possible recognition. The fact that has not been refuted is that the Koran explicitly endorses the enslavement and consummation of the sexual act with non-Muslim captive women, regardless of their marriage outside the Islamic faith. That practice is not compatible with modern civilized thinking and it takes some incredible audacity to gush over the "feminism" of the guy who endorsed it pretending is the word of God. The technique here is quite simple: Since all your problems are over once you convert to Islam, let's not make a fuss over what may happen to you until that happy outcome and be thankful that the Islamic texts are somewhat fuzzy and allow a smooth talker like RFDawah to gush over Mohammed the unrecognized feminist.

This apology is pathetic. Under no circumstances, does any decent society today find it acceptable to take the wives of the combatants captive and have sex with them. Yet the best example of a man Islam has to offer finds this acceptable and by divine permission. Sorry, dance around all you want. It is not acceptable.

If Mohamed gave the choice to the war slaves to be or leave, Why he was poisoned by the Jewish woman?
do you know, god have no religion? religions are only political ideology, during the 6th century the people were confused about their current living and the happening after the death, they needed a leader and followed his instruction blindly. You can still reach the god without follow a religion, if you are a good human being, treat the human kind as a human kind, ready to live together with different kind of Society, doing your duty correct (such as respect elders, be supportive to your parents, be faithful to your job and surroundings) and if don't force your fanatical opinion on others or kill other livings for your satisfaction.

Please see, “The Spirit of Jewish Law,” George Horowitz, page 151:
“The law with respect to a beautiful woman captured in battle was explained by the Rabbis as intending to prevent licentiousness, acts of rape on the field of battle, etc. for the captor must bring the woman ‘to his house’ (V. 12) and must make her a member of his family (Kiddushim 21b). He must permit her to mourn her parents for one month. And R. Akiva adds in the Talmud that through her religion may have been pure idolatry, she is to be permitted to mourn even loss of her religion (Yevamot 48b). Once having married her as commanded ‘she shall be thy wife’ v. 13), the husband-captor may not use her as a slave, nor treat her with less respect than any other wife. A captor, moreover, may not take such a beautiful captive for any other person (like a relative), but only for himself.”

One thing is ordering his soldiers what to do vs what Mohammed actually did. You gave a very dishonest answer, you said all women/captives were returned to their families, that is false, look at Safiyas example, Mohammed had her husband killed and he forced her as wife. He could only marry her if her husband was dead so he had to kill him. Tho you don't call it rape, those captive women where coerced to have sex, how can anyone under supreme authority feel they have the power to say no? The worst thing Mohammed did was to marry a 6yo there is no rebuttal for that, all rebuttals go down the trash when Mohammed could have taken her as a daughter. Following his other actions of stealing his adopted son's wife, it is evident Mohammed was driven by lust.

It is unclear why a perfect book from a perfect god would leave sensitive topics like killing, slavery and child rape open for us to make interpretation. Obviously, this game exists because the Information Age is now making the full history and texts of the Islamic religion available to a broader audience and the contents are highly embarrassing. Pretending that different meanings exist is a weak attempt at self-assurance and saving face.

***** with all due respect you seem to be lacking basic skill of reading and understanding where does it say they rape the captives? The companions asked a question asking a question doesn't mean you are doing the action but what was the prophet Muhammed s.a.w replied he stated is better for you not to do it lol the prophet Muhammed s.a.w just refute your delusional assumption lol on top that the Qur'an refute your bigotry
      24:32
And marry those among you who are single (i.e. a man who has no wife and the woman who has no husband) and (also marry) the Salihun (pious, fit and capable ones) of your (male) slaves and maid-servants (female slaves). If they be poor, Allah will enrich them out of His Bounty. And Allah is All-Sufficent for His creatures' needs, All-Knowing (about the state of the people).
      24:33
And let those who find not the financial means for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah enriches them of His Bounty. And such of your slaves as seek a writing (of emancipation), give them such writing, if you know that they are good and trustworthy. And give them something yourselves out of the wealth of Allah which He has bestowed upon you. And force not your slaves to prostitution, if they desire chastity, in order that you may make a gain in the (perishable) goods of this worldly life. But if anyone compels them (to prostitution), then after such compulsion, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to those women, i.e. He will forgive them because they have been forced to do this evil action unwillingly.
      Compare that to the Bible
      1 Samuel 15:2,3
2 This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt.3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.' "
      Numbers 31:17,18
17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man,18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
      Deuteronomy 20:16
16 However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes.
      New International Reader's Version Translation
      Isaiah 13:16
16Their babies will be smashed to pieces
right in front of their eyes.
      Their houses will be robbed.
      Their wives will be raped.
      Zechariah 14:2
2The Lord will gather all of the nations together. They will fight against Jerusalem. They'll capture the city. Its houses will be robbed. Its women will be raped. Half of the people will be taken away as prisoners. But the rest of them won't be taken.
Also, for those of our readers who do not know, the word "ravished" means to rape.

It's better you don't do it meaning pull your penis out of the vagina when you ejaculate into the captive girl. Lo. You have a wild imagination. the following sentence states: The prophet said, "Do you really do that? It is better for you not to do it. No soul that which Allah has destined to exist, but will surely come into existence." It's basically saying if the girl gets pregnant it was allah's will whether you pull your penis out or leave it in when you ejaculate. How is that call a rape ? they are asking question how does that necessitate that an action has taken place?
You are deceptive. If mohamed was saying it was wrong to have sex with captive girls, then he wouldn't have said "it's better you don't do it" He'd have said "it is forbidden to do it."So now you want to dedicate what other people should do or not ? Who give you the right to dedicate others how they should live?
Also, regarding the bible, I know full well what it teaches and that's why I left Christianity. I find the bible disgusting and every bit of it false. I also find the Quran disgusting and false this is base on your delusional assumption you haven't provide evidence from the Qur'an to establish your claim The idea that allah wastes space in the quran to allow mohamed to have sex with who he wants and to yell at his wives for being angry about it is sick please provide evidence rather than your delusional assumption ... it shows what aisha claimed about mohamed that allah says whatever mohamed wants. Again what's the evidence
Regarding your argument about no sex could be proven. You deliberately ignored this authentic hadith which shows that sex actually did take place: Equivocation fallacy you first claim rape now it's se lol having sex with a person and rape is two different things but a bias preconditions indoctrinated person like you cannot seem to tell the difference Secondly you are mixing two different hadith which are not talking about the same event....lastly why having sex with a person is objectively wrong ? What objective moral standard are you using to judge islam ?
      FROM SAHIH BUKHARI - VOLUME 5, #637:
Narrated Buraida: The prophet sent Ali to Khalid to bring the Khumus (part of the war booty) and I hated Ali, and Ali had taken a bath (after a sexual act with a slave girl from the Khumus). this is in bracket which is not part of the text lol I said to Khalid, "Don't you see this (i.e. Ali)? When we reached the prophet I mentioned that to him. He said, "O Buraida! Do you hate Ali?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Do you hate him for he deserves more than that from the Khumus."
The lies of muslims like yourself are fully on display for the world to see and this will result in a mass exodus of people leaving islam. TH-cam will be the death of islam; because islam cannot survive when it is exposed for all to see its ugliness, violence and hatred. appealing to pity fallacy but you are entitle to your self delusional imagery baseless opinion why did you ignore the quranic verse
      24:32
And marry those among you who are single (i.e. a man who has no wife and the woman who has no husband) and (also marry) the Salihun (pious, fit and capable ones) of your (male) slaves and maid-servants (female slaves). Lol these verses refuted your delusional assumption.
      6:151
Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason."

And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity. And give full measure and weight in justice. We do not charge any soul except [with that within] its capacity. And when you testify, be just, even if [it concerns] a near relative. And the covenant of Allah fulfill. This has He instructed you that you may remember.

Umar on Rape: The Caliph sentences a man for raping a slave girl he acquired through war
Harun ibn Al-Asim reported: Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, sent Khalid ibn Al-Waleed with the army and Khalid sent Dirar ibn Al-Azwar along with a company and they invaded a district belonging to the tribe of Asad. They captured a beautiful girl and Dirar was impressed with her. He asked his companions to give her to him and they did, then he had intercourse with her. When he completed his mission, he felt guilty for what he had done and he want to Khalid and told him about it. Khalid said, “Indeed, I have made it permissible and wholesome for you.” Dirar said, “No, not until you write to Umar.” Umar replied that he should be stoned but by the time the letter had arrived, Dirar had passed away from natural causes. Khalid said, “Allah did not want to disgrace Dirar.”

Ash-Shafi’ee on Rape: If a man rapes his slave girl, then he will be punished for adultery
Ash-Shafi’ee said, “If a man acquires a slave girl by force and then he rapes her, and he is not an ignorant person, then the slave girl is taken from him. He must pay the fine and the legal punishment for adultery will be applied to him.”

Malik on Rape: The rapist must pay the dowry and receive legal punishment
Ibn Shihab reported: Abdul Malik ibn Marwan judged that a woman who was raped must be paid her dowry by the one who raped her. Malik said, “The issue among us concerning the man who rapes a woman, whether she is a virgin or not, is that he must pay her dowry if she is free. If she is a servant, he must pay what has been taken from her value. The legal punishment is applied to the rapist and there is no punishment for the woman who was raped in any case.”

Hadith on Rape: The Prophet applied legal punishment upon a rapist and he pardoned his victim
Abu Alqama reported: A woman went out to pray during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and she was met by a man who attacked her and raped her. She screamed and he ran away. Then another man passed by and she said, “This man has molested me!” A group of emigrants were passing by and again she said, “This man has molested me!” They caught the man whom she thought was her attacker and brought him to her and she said, “Yes, this is the one.” They brought him to the Prophet and he issued orders concerning him but the one who had attacked her stood up and he said, “O Messenger of Allah, I am the one who attacked her.” The Prophet said to her, “Go now, for Allah has forgiven you,” and the Prophet said kind words to the man who had been mistakenly arrested. The Prophet said to the man who had attacked her, “Condemn him,” and the Prophet said, “Verily, he has repented in such a manner that if the people of Medina were to repent in this way, it would be accepted from them.”
      Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1454
Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to At-Tirmidh
There is no theology of rape in Islam
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Islam has forbidden rape and sexual abuse since the time of the Prophet until today. Allegations by anti-Muslim activists are only buttressed by the appalling criminal behavior of terrorist groups acting in the name of Islam who use rape as a weapon of war. Rape by itself is an atrocity, but it is made even worse, tantamount to idolatry, when it is falsely justified in the name of Allah and His Messenger.
The basic principle in Islamic law is that a Muslim is forbidden from harming another person or animal unless it is necessary to repel a greater harm.
Ubaida ibn As-Samit reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, issued a decree:
      لاَ ضَرَرَ وَلاَ ضِرَارَ
Do not cause harm or return harm.
Source: Sunan ibn Majah 2340, Grade: Hasan
As-Suyuti expresses the legal principle as follows:
      الضَّرَر يُزَال
      Harm should be removed.
      Source: Al-Ashbah wa Natha’ir 7
Since it is well-established that rape causes innumerable harms to mind, body, and spirit, without any rational justification of preventing a greater wrong, it follows that rape is absolutely forbidden in Islam. This by itself is enough to establish the prohibition of rape. Even so, the Prophet further set the precedent that rape should not be tolerated in Muslim society. A man in Medina was caught after he raped a woman and the Prophet applied legal punishment on him, the maximum of which is the death penalty.
Abu Alqama reported: A woman went out to pray during the time of the Prophet and she was met by a man who attacked her and raped her. She said, “This man has molested me!” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
      ارْجُمُوهُ
      He is condemned to death.
Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1454, Grade: Sahih
The righteous Caliphs who succeeded the Prophet continued this policy of legal punishment for the crime of rape. The victim of rape would not be punished regardless of the circumstances.
      Ibn Umar reported:
Umar ibn Al-Khattab was given a servant girl among the girls who served the leadership. She was forced upon by one of the young men, so Umar flogged the man and he did not flog the woman.
Source: Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 29012
      Nafi’ reported:
A man was invited as a guest of the family of a household, then he forced himself upon a woman among them. It was referred to Abu Bakr, so he flogged him and expelled him, and he did not flog the woman.
Source: Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 29013
      Hajjaj reported:
An Abyssinian forced himself upon a woman among them. It was referred to Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz and he applied legal punishment on him.
Source: Musannaf Ibn Abi Shayba 29014
The righteous jurists who succeeded the companions of the Prophet established a legal consensus that rape was forbidden and should be punished as if it were adultery. They only disagreed about the monetary fine that was to accompany legal punishment.
      Ibn Abdul Barr writes:
The scholars agreed that the rapist must be given legal punishment if there is clear evidence against him that he deserves punishment or if he confesses to it. If the evidence is not as clear, then he is given a discretionary punishment. There is no punishment for the victim if it is true that she was forced and overpowered, as would be evident by her screams and cries for help.
      Source: Kitab Al-Istidhkar 32083
And according to the Kuwaiti Encyclopedia of Islamic Law:
If a woman were to be raped, meaning without consent, then the rapist must be given legal punishment and his fine is agreed upon, although the jurists disagreed on the amount. The Hanafi scholars said he must pay the maximum blood money and no less. The Maliki scholars said he must pay the dowry and a just settlement. The Shafi’ee scholars said he must pay blood money. The Hanbali scholars said he must pay a third of her blood money and a dowry similar to it.
      Source: Mawsu’at Al-Fiqhiyya 3212
The prohibition of rape applied to all women, including slaves and prisoners of war.
      Ash-Shafi’ee said:
If a man acquires a slave girl by force and then he rapes her, and he is not an ignorant person, then the slave girl is taken from him. He must pay the fine and the legal punishment for adultery will be applied to him.
      Source: Kitab Al-Umm 253
Indeed, it is even forbidden in Islam to slap a slave or a servant, let alone commit any greater harm. If a Muslim so much as slapped his servants, the Prophet would command them to be set free.
Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessing be upon him, said:
      مَنْ ضَرَبَ غُلَامًا لَهُ حَدًّا لَمْ يَأْتِهِ أَوْ لَطَمَهُ فَإِنَّ كَفَّارَتَهُ أَنْ يُعْتِقَهُ
Whoever strikes his slave without limit or slaps him, then the expiation for his sin is to emancipate him.
Source: Sahih Muslim 1657, Grade: Sahih
Suwaid ibn Muqarrin reported: He had a servant girl and someone slapped her, so he said to him:
Did you not know that it is forbidden to strike the face? I was the seventh of my brothers during the lifetime of the Prophet and we had only one servant. One of us became enraged and slapped him, so the Prophet commanded us to set him free.
Source: Sahih Muslim 1658, Grade: Sahih
If it is forbidden to simply strike a slave in a humiliating way, then how can it be lawful to commit rape which is many times worse?
Anti-Muslim activists and their extremist Muslim counterparts in criminal terrorist organizations agree that Islam allows the rape of captive women, yet they cannot produce any clear scriptural and legal proof for their position. Instead they must rely upon the ignorance of their audience who are unable or unwilling to investigate the intended meaning of the Quran and Sunnah.
The Noble Quran speaks about marriage to “those whom your right hands possess,” meaning slaves and servants. This was known as the institution of concubinage which was a form of marriage in pre-modern Arab and Muslim society. To infer from these verses that rape is permissible, or even praiseworthy, is an incredibly unwarrantedeisegesis, or a reading into the text that which it does not say.
Likewise, extremists cannot find any instance in the prophetic traditions or biography in which the companions of the Prophet raped captive women. Therefore, they must once again erroneously infer their desired interpretation by citing a prophetic tradition without any regard to context and scholarly commentary.
Their primary proof-text used to justify rape is the following tradition:
Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri reported: At the battle of Hunain, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent an army to Awtas and they encountered the enemy and fought them. Having overcome them and taken them prisoner, the companions of the Messenger of Allah refrained from having intercourse with the captive women because their husbands were idolaters. Then Allah revealed the verse:
      وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ
(Prohibited for you) are married women except those whom your right hands possesses. (4:24)
Source: Sahih Muslim 1456, Grade: Sahih
Interpreted on its own, this tradition might appear to sanction the rape of captive women. Yet the scholarly methodology requires the collation of all texts and commentaries on a given topic before coming to a conclusive rule, principle, or practice. We must see how the companions of the Prophet, their students, and the scholars who succeeded them understood and applied the tradition within the entirety of Islamic teachings.
In reality, we will find that this tradition is a proof against their position. Sexual intercourse was only made lawful with these women after they embraced Islam, which requires consent.
An-Nawawi comments on this tradition, saying:
Know that it is the way of Ash-Shafi’ee and the scholars who agreed with him that it is unlawful to have intercourse with the captive women among the idolaters and other unbelievers who are without a divine scripture unless they first embrace Islam. They are forbidden to approach as long as they are following their religion and these captive girls were among the Arab polytheists who worshiped idols. This tradition and others like it imply that the women embraced Islam and this is how they must be interpreted. Allah knows best.
      Source: Sharh Sahih Muslim 1456
Hence, contrary to the practice of Muslim terrorists who rape their hostages, the righteous jurists prohibited intercourse with non-Muslim prisoners of war, just as they prohibited compulsion in the propagation of Islam.
Following the Prophet is done by adhering to the scholarly method and prioritizing the foundational Islamic values and principles at the heart of all authentic religious practice. Forcing a predetermined interpretation onto scripture by clinging to the literal meaning of texts, without regard to context and exegesis, is not faithfulness or devotion; it is ignorance and illiteracy.
Success comes from Allah, and Allah knows best.

What does Islam teach about concubines?
Islam encourages the freeing of slaves and their joining in marriage as a means to improve their status in society. Concubinage was a form of marriage in Islam that was abolished when Muslim countries ended slavery. Islam forbids rape and prostitution in all cases as they are major sins in the category of adultery.
Most ancient societies allowed a form a concubinage in which a master would be intimate with his female slaves. According to the Bible, Solomon had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines (1 Kings 11:3). Concubinage (as-sirr) in Islam was a marriage (nikah) between a free man and his female slave. Ibn Mandhur states in his classical dictionary of the Arabic language:
      وَالسِّرُّ : النِّكَاحُ ؛ لِأَنَّهُ يُكْتَمُ … وَالسُّرِّيَّةُ : الْجَارِيَةُ الْمُتَّخَذَةُ لِلْمَلِكِ وَالْجِمَاعِ
Concubinage, from the root sirr meaning secret, is marriage because it is kept hidden… The concubine is the servant girl adopted by the master with whom she is intimate.
      Source: Lisan Al-Arab 7/167
This is unlike the concubinage of societies that treated such women as property without rights. Rather, Islam made the concubines like wives with similar rights to maintenance and good treatment. A man would not be allowed to share his concubine with other men, nor was he allowed to be intimate with another man’s concubine. In this respect, the Quran commands Muslims to marry (ankihu) their female slaves in the same way free women are married.
      Allah said:
Whoever among you cannot find the means to marry free, believing women, then he may marry from those whom your right hands possess of believing slave girls, and Allah is most knowing about your faith. You believers are of one another. So marry them with the permission of their people and give them their due compensation according to what is acceptable. They should be chaste, neither of those who commit unlawful intercourse randomly nor those who take secret lovers.
      Surah An-Nisa 4:25
Muhammad Asad comments on this verse:
Literally meaning, “And not taking unto themselves secret love-companions.” This passage lays down in an unequivocal manner that sexual relations with female slaves are permitted only on the basis of marriage, and that in this respect there is no difference between them and free women. Consequently, concubinage is ruled out.
Source: Message of the Quran 4:25
      And Allah said:
Marry the unmarried among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, for Allah is Encompassing and Knowing.
      Surah An-Nur 24:32
Muhammad Asad comments on this verse:
As in verse 4:25, the above verse rules out all forms of concubinage and postulates marriage as the only basis of lawful sexual relations between a man and his female slave.
Source: Message of the Quran 24:32
Likewise, Sheikh Abdul Wahhab Al-Turayri writes:
Allah forbids any relationship between a man and woman outside the marital relationship.
      Source: Islamtoday.net
The Prophet and his companions considered sexual intercourse with unmarried slave girls to be a form of adultery.
Habeeb ibn Salim reported: A man had sexual intercourse with the servant girl of his wife, so the matter was referred to Nu’man ibn Basheer. Nu’man said:
I will judge them according to the judgment of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. If his wife had given him permission, I will lash him one hundred times. If she did not give him permission, I will sentence him to death.
Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1451, Grade: Hasan
      At-Tirmidhi comments on this tradition:
There is a disagreement among the scholars about a man who has intercourse with his wife’s servant girl. It is narrated from more than one of the companions of the Prophet, among them Ali and Ibn Umar, that he should be condemned to death. Ibn Mas’ud said this legal punishment should not be applied, but rather he should be given a discretionary punishment. Ahmad and Ishaq followed what was narrated by Nu’man ibn Basheer from the Prophet.
      Source: Sunan At-Tirmidhi 1451
In this example, the Prophet, the companions, and a number of scholars considered it an act of adultery for a woman to make sexual relations lawful between her own slave and her husband. This demonstrates that sexual relations were only lawful with concubines due to the ratification of a marriage (nikah) as mentioned in the Quran.
Freeing slaves is a great virtue mentioned in the Quran and it is a means for Muslims to enter Paradise. Islam only allowed the acquisition of slaves as an unfortunate consequence of war and, by contrast, provided Muslims with many incentives to free their slaves.
      Allah said:
What will make you know what is the difficult path to Paradise? It is the freeing of a slave.
      Surah Al-Balad 90:12-13
The Prophet particularly encouraged Muslims to free their female slaves and to marry them.
Abu Burda reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
      وَرَجُلٌ كَانَتْ عِنْدَهُ أَمَةٌ فَأَدَّبَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَأْدِيبَهَا وَعَلَّمَهَا فَأَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمَهَا ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ
There is a double reward for a man who owns a servant girl and he mentors her, teaches her beautiful manners, educates her in the best way, and then he emancipates her and marries her.
Source: Sahih Bukhari 97, Grade: Sahih
Al-Bukhari narrates this tradition in his Book of Marriage as the first matter under the section about taking a concubine, demonstrating that concubinage was an issue of marriage jurisprudence and that it was recommended for men to free their concubines. Likewise, other books of traditions mention the issue of concubinage within the context of marriage.
Not only did the Prophet encourage freedom for slaves and concubines, he set an important precedent by practicing it in his personal life.
      Anas ibn Malik reported:
The Prophet emancipated Safiya and made her freedom as her marriage dowry.
Source: Sahih Bukhari 4798, Grade: Muttafiqun Alayhi
Since Islam strictly limited slavery and strongly encouraged freedom, it became clear to Muslim scholars over time that the intention of such legislation was to abolish slavery altogether and, consequently, the practice of concubinage. Today, the legal consensus among Muslim countries makes it unlawful to own slaves and by extension forbids concubinage.
Furthermore, Allah has forbidden prostitution or selling slave women for sexual service.
      Allah said:
Do not compel your slave girls to prostitution if they desire chastity, seeking thereby the interests of worldly life.
      Surah An-Nur 24:33
Jabir reported: Abdullah ibn Ubayy Al-Salul would say to his servant girl, “Earn us something from prostitution.” So Allah the Exalted revealed the verse:
      وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا فَتَيَاتِكُمْ عَلَى الْبِغَاءِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَ تَحَصُّنًا لِّتَبْتَغُوا عَرَضَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا
Do not compel your slave girls to prostitution if they desire chastity, seeking thereby the interests of worldly life. (24:33)
Source: Sahih Muslim 3029, Grade: Sahih
Therefore, Islam absolutely forbids what is known as the “sex trade” wherein women are bought and sold for sexual intercourse, either willingly or by compulsion.
Regarding the crime of rape, the Prophet applied the legal punishment of adultery to those who committed this heinous sin.
Similarly, Umar condemned a man to death for having unlawful intercourse with a female captive he had acquired during war.
Harun ibn Al-Asim reported: Umar ibn Al-Khattab sent Khalid ibn Al-Waleed with the army and Khalid sent Dirar ibn Al-Azwar along with a company and they invaded a district belonging to the tribe of Asad. They captured a beautiful girl and Dirar was impressed with her. He asked his companions to give her to him and they did, then he had intercourse with her. A letter was sent to Umar and he replied:
      فَكَتَبَ عُمَرُ أَنْ أَرْضِخْهُ بِالْحِجَارَةِ
He should be stoned to death.
      Source: Sunan Al-Kubra 16761
As such, the founding jurists of the schools of Islamic law considered the crime of rape to be a major sin in the category of adultery, specifically mentioning the case of a man who rapes a female captive he acquires during war.
      Imam Ash-Shafi’ee said:
      وَإِذَا اغْتَصَبَ الرَّجُلُ الْجَارِيَةَ ثُمَّ وَطِئَهَا بَعْدَ الْغَصْبِ وَهُوَ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَهْلِ الْجَهَالَةِ أُخِذَتْ مِنْهُ الْجَارِيَةُ وَالْعُقْرُ وَأُقِيمَ عَلَيْهِ حَدُّ الزِّنَا
If a man acquires a slave girl by force and then he rapes her, and he is not an ignorant person, then the slave girl is taken from him. He must pay the fine and the legal punishment for adultery will be applied to him.
      Source: Al-Umm 253
It is not true, as some anti-Muslim speakers have claimed, that a woman who is raped should be punished.
      Imam Malik said:
The legal punishment is applied to the rapist and there is no punishment for the woman who was raped in any case.
      Source: Muwatta 1418
In conclusion, the only lawful sexual relations in Islam are those in a valid marriage between a man and a woman. Concubinage as a form of marriage has become obsolete with the abolition of slavery. Furthermore, it is not lawful for a Muslim to commit rape or prostitution under any circumstances.
Success comes from Allah, and Allah knows best.

All the things you explain indeed make Muhammad OK, or even maybe progressive, FOR A 7TH CENTURY WARLORD. We cannot hold this type of behaviour as "perfect for all eternity" as he enshrined himself to be by divine law. He was a man of his time, a somewhat ethical (although he did say and apply "war is deceit") warmongering bedouin who started an amazingly influential empire. But don't be mad at non-muslims for not worshipping him as anything beyond this. We can respect and admire Alexander the great, Gengis Khan and the like (and most westerners do admire Salahuddin). If they had declared themselves bearers of the ultimate revelation from God, the ultimate example of human behaviour, we'd have the same problems that we have today with terrorism, jihad and internal fitna within the Umma.
You're still excusing Muhammad's acts as those of one who basically treated his slaves well. But if you agree that slavery in today's world is wrong and should be abolished, doesn't it mean that you should also beleive that Muhammad should have clearly and definitively abolished slavery when setting the definitive, perfect example of human behavior?

About "rape", in order to explain how this is a "crime" in Islam which carries "serious punishment", you quote Imam Malik's interpretation of the sharia ruling which is that if a man rapes a free woman he must pay a dowry (the "bride price") to the parents, and if if he rapes a slave girl he must pay "whatever has been detracted from her value". The sha'afi school says that raping another guy slave girl can be OK if he didn't know she belonged to someone else ("ignorance"!!), if he did it knowingly then he must pay a fine + have the penalty for zina (fornication) applied to him. In every case it is clear that what is punished is NOT the offense done to the girl herself (the woman's suffering for having sexual relations forced onto her is never even considered) but the offense done to the honor of her family, or to the property of her owners, or to Islamic law (illegal sexual intercourse or zina). Why must the fine be paid to the parents, or to the slave owner to compensate for the loss of his property value? Because there is not even such a thing as "rape" in Islamic law and culture. The willingness of the woman to engage or not in sexual acts with a man is in fact NEVER really considered in Islamic law. The woman's worth in only quantified relatively to her family's honor or her master's property value. In any case she's nothing but a passive object. This is why a wife MUST respond to her husband's "calls to the bed" and it is lawful to beat her if she refuses.

More details on rape in Maliki fiq :
The scattered presentation of the legal doctrine on rape reveals the hybrid character with which Maliki fuqaha conceived of this crime. The perpetration of a rape involves the crime of illegal sexual intercourse (zina ). To prove zina either four upright witnesses who have seen the act in its most intimate details, or the confession of the perpetrator, or pregnancy are required. Zina is punished with a statutory sanction (hadd) consisting of stoning to death when the culprit is a muhsan and one hundred slashes plus one year of banishment for the non-muhsan. Slaves, independently whether they have been married or not, receive half the punishment established for non-muhsans, i.e.fifty slashes.
If the crime cannot be proved with any of the aforementioned requirements and the claimant cannot present circumstantial evidence (discussed later), the accusation is considered tantamount to qadhf (calumny or false accusation of illegal sexual intercourse) the punishment of which consists of eighty slashes. Moreover, if the claimant of rape who does not succeed in substantiating her accusation becomes pregnant, she is subject to the punishment for zina, her claim being considered implicit confession to the crime.
Rape, as Malikis conceive of it, may thus bring about financial and penal liability for the accused and and penal liability for the claimant. These liabilities vary, depending on whether the perpetrator is a Muslim or a dhimmi, free or slave, muhsan or non-muhsan ,child or adult and of good or bad reputation.
As regards the victim, there is a distinction between the free and the slave, thechild and the adult, the one who is in her right mind and the onewho is deranged, the one who was awaken at the moment of theassault and the one who was asleep, and the victim of good and bad reputation.

According to Malik, when a pregnant woman claims that herpregnancy is the result of a rape, “the practice among us”, i.e.Medinans, (al-amrainda-na) is to punish her with the statutory sanction for zina, unless she has witnesses to the rape or she appeared bleeding if she was a virgin, or cried and asked for help from the people or something similar to that. However, if she can establish that she was forced, the rapist must pay her the proper bride price if she is free, virgin or non-virgin. If she is a slave, he must pay a compensation equivalent to the decrease that the rape has produced in her worth. In Yahyà b. Yahyà’s transmission of the Muwatta no mention is made to sources of Malik’s doctrine other than the practice of the people of Medina, Malik’s main endeavour being precisely to promote Medinan practice to the level of authoritative and binding source of law.

It is thus clear that what you muslims call the "law of god" as opposed to "man-made laws" is largely the product of a time and a place, and not so different than the laws practiced by the people of Medina before Muhammad received the revelation. Trying to apply these 7th century arab laws to the whole world in the 21th century because they are "from God" is absolute insanity.

When you try to defend the book, you only make it obvious that it’s not written for all humanity, but for Muslims.
Are you Allah? Why should you defend Allah’s book as if you’re the author?

1-in times of war where a Nazi would come looking for a innocent Jew and he asks me about his whereabouts I could lie to him and protect my Nazi friend and myself
2- about something related to hurting someone's feelings
3-And calming things down between Muslim brothers or not to make a full out war

I’m confused on how this can be debated if this is in the QURAN? 4:24. I understand you are claiming the historicity is not reliable but surely you believe the Quran is reliable so how can you ignore the verse?

I lost confidence in your account when you said in a battle men brought with them their women and children, at one point all the men fled leaving all the women and children alone. That is not believable, that is Islamic fantasy or an excuse to justify the atrocities that for sure happened after that.
That is why Muslim stories are not reliable. Any real proof of that story or just the Muslim tale?

Ummm... The video he responded to was also using Muslim sources, but out of context. He on the other hand referenced them all with context. Just denounce both vids if it's a fairy tale to you and go about your day.

@@slaveofgod3481 No, the video he responded to was carefully analyzed from Islamic sources IN CONTEXT.
Islamic sources said that Muslims are allowed to have sex with women given to them after being captured as slaves.
This DOCTOR, said no scriptures state Muslims had indeed SEX WITH THESE WOMEN.
What? What a joke. You expected Muslims to report the next day they had sex with their slaves? Are you serious?
They were given permission to have sex with the condition that these women were not during their menstruation period.
      Is it clear now?

Taking women against there will and having "relations" with them. This would be called human trafficking/sexual slavery this day in age. I can't imagine the horrors the women and children of that past that had to endure this or the Yazidi women and young girls that are enduring this now under ISIS. Truly horrific.

Since the verse was related in the context of whom you can marry, I naturally thought it was just saying that war captives are okay to marry (but not until they give up paganism). Still, in the back of my mind was a doubt, which has been relieved by your research. So far, you are the only person on TH-cam, who has produced the citations that your conclusions are based on. We converts can't read Arabic in the way you can and most books are not translated into English. Even if they were translated, not everyone is careful or knowledgeable to do it correctly. They may even say or imply the opposite of what they want to say, leaving converts further confused. So thank you for discussing this topic with thoroughness and grace. I wish there were many more refutations like this. It's a shame, and detrimental to Islam, that more "scholars" don't research thoroughly and then have the guts to put it out there.
