Tsang foods ( Chinese supermarket) opposite Haymarket bus station in Newcastle. Big bottles of Soy sauce, cheap as chips and good stuff. Those small supermarket bottles don’t last five mins.
If you have a Wing Yips in your area they are cheap(ish) as well. You can also pick up Chinese rice at the same time. Basmati rice is from India and not really the correct type.
Little tip about honey off a measuring spoon, rub it with a bit of oil, veg or olive whatever you have, just to coat it, then when you pour the honey on to the spoon to measure it just runs off, the oil stops it sticking.
If, like my elderly parents, you have problems chewing meat, put the raw meat into as zip bag along with the sauce. Then pop it in the fridge over night to marinade. You can then fry the pork and sauce at the same time. That way you have this delicious meal and the meat is tender rather than crispy.
Love the recipes love the accent i thought it was Scottish. (I have been in germany to long) i do worry that you will get your sleeves caught tho😅. I would love a scottish pie. x
This looks beautiful. I must try this. What I love about your recipes is they are not too big when I cook, there is only me, and I end up with way too much and have to find space in the freezer. I don’t mind but usually I have 2;or 3 big containers left. I just can’t get used to cooking for one. Thank you for your videos, I really love them.
Where I live we let that rendered fat cool down then use it as spread on home-made bread with a bit of salt and pepper very delicious you should try it
Love Kikkoman soy sauce, if could ...would pour into a tea kettle. Thx for sharing 🍜 I cook rice in a 4 quart pot and rinse rice several times before bringing to a boil covered. Am used to just doubling water over rice portion but can pour off or add water as needed. Think in Asia common to use electric rice cookers but there is kind of finesse to cooking on stove. I freeze rice in serving size clumps in a gallon freezor bag. Microwaves really easily. Then usually use for things like fried rice for shrimp with lemon or apple cider vinegar & Worcestershire sauce. (I like with beef & bean chilli too...Rice is very healthy & good for digestion). A thing for kids or grandkids is stir fry rice some diced vegetables and an omelette over it ...with ketchup on top. Called omurice recipe 🍚 🍅🍳
This is just how I do it but I love it soooo… Four strips of pork belly, cut into chunks In a bowl add a good squirt of ketchup, gochujang sauce, olive oil, soy sauce, chinese five spice, good amount of salt and white pepper, garlic and ginger paste, decent amount of honey, red wine vinegar, onion powder, english mustard. MSG. Combine and leave to marinade as long as you wish Sautée pan on full heat, touch of oil, fry the pork off for five minutes or so Add 300ml of chicken stock and reduce to a low heat, lid on. Simmer for at least an hour and a half - two hours tops Remove the pork from the sauce and fry in the air fryer or oven for 20 minutes til crisp Leave the lid off the sauce and increase the heat, taste it and adjust the seasoning/honey to your liking Once the pork is done in the air fryer add it back to the sauce
Always a delight to watch your channel(s)! That pork recipe looks fabulous - another one to try here. Have a lovely time in Berwick, somewhere I loved going when living 'oop North'. And, a night off cooking for you - yay! See you over on Ian's Channel tomorrow. x
I don’t like pork but your pork belly recipes are changing my mind. Could do this with your sweet and dour sauce, perhaps?

If you oil the tablespoon first, the honey comes off easier.
I am going to try this recipe. We love belly pork.
Thank you. X
