Tracie Thoms became very important in RENT history as the ultimate Joanne character.... she had the opportunity to be part of the movie adaptation, then she joined the final Broadway cast and came back to the Hollywood Bowl version directed by Neil Patrick Harris
I'm not sure if any musical used the original cast but I know for sure other musical movies used their original leads like Barbra Streisand in Funny Girl, John Cameron Mitchell in Hedwig

Now I wait when Universal will announce who will be the cast of the film adaptation of Wicked... I really want Idina could reprise her rol of Elphaba but I think someone like Emily Blunt would get the role instead of her.. My Glinda would be Kirsten Bell
