the problem has come from the people calling games a tarkov killer. they think it's super easy to design a game that can just make tarkov obsolete but they dont respect the depth that tarkov brings and the fact that its been in development for 8 years. you can't just surpass a game that's had 8 years of dev time behind it
One thing I noticed is that while the map looks really nice (especially inside the forested bits), when you actually get close to the mountains you realise that they are just rather simple Perlin noise with no clever manipulation.
Take at look at the UE5 asset store and type in "Jungle". Now using store bought assets isn't a bad thing by itself, that is their intended purpose. But it REALLY paints a picture when you also take the dev's statement of "We built this in a year"
I do remember my first thoughts when I saw the game were that it was an asset flip taking advantage of lumen, nanite, and all of the foliage mega scans that unreal offered when the game was first announced, so I do get that vibe too. Game definitely has too much bespoke art in it to be an asset flip, but I do worry about the mindset of the company due to the editions and numerous bugs and oversights on the programming side of the game.
@@ItzJoeyDYT that's not exactly a feat... Tarkov runs like dogshit and is made like horse shit and unreal runs a lot better than unity with better graphics too. Doesn't change the fact that I was highly skeptical of this game when I first saw it on initial announcement and thus am not surprised by how it turned out. I'm a game dev and this game doesn't really impress me as the main map seems like it was cobbled together with megascanned foliage and some bespoke assets to have a fast turnaround time, the simulated bullet cavities and shit would be cool if they actually did anything, beyond that I don't see much complexity and the complexity that is there, is bugged to shit. Not to mention random stuff being copied from tarkov that in my opinion makes the game worse with no real justification, p2w editions, VoIP timer limit for an open world team-based game, Grindy non-shared quests? Why? Just cause tarkov has it doesn't make it good. I honestly feel bad for the Devs who have to deal with whichever fuckwit's decision it was to release early and cause a bunch of unnecessary crunch. This seems like it was a half baked idea with a lot of potential but some exec wanted "to move fast" and ended up making a "I don't know what the fuck I want" burger.
just a PSA for anyone watching this: the "animation lock" topic at 26:12 is totally inaccurate. Right click to cancel any heal/drink/eat animation. You absolutely can cancel these animations if you need to pull out your rifle quickly.
Solo non content creator here. I play solo only. 100k+ in bank, all level 2 traders. Lots of guns, ammo, kit, etc. I get everyone has different experiences but you don’t have to be a streamer that is torturing themselves to succeed as a solo. And I’ve been having tons of fun.
Agreed, Moidawg was just crying this whole video, all he does is make low effort slop SQUAD content with jibberish commentary which happens to be an even worse designed game. Moidawg runs into a few bugs on a truly alpha game, and calls the game overhyped LOL
Would be cool if the little bird had a progression system, where you could unlock more LZs or LZs in a more cluttered forest or dangerous area because the little bird pilot has more piloting skills.
You actually do, watching a video from JesseKazam he mentions that when you explore the map you will find new LZ's that you can choose for the little bird.
Would be cool if your shoes had a progression system where you could unlock more shoe laces, different knots, tripping over yourself, delamination, athletes foot.
Super glad the PvP hornies are upset. Fingers crossed they won't buy and stay away. It's not like we weren't told PvP wasn't a focus of the game since way back... don't understand what people expected. I have Tarkov, I have Squad, I have ARMA, I have CoD, finally I'll have something that isn't any of those things.
I understand that sentiment, For sure. But if they don't want people to criticize the PvP element then simply don't add it. But they know they can't NOT have PvP because they want to compare this to Tarkov. They want the Tarkov community to play their game. But you can't have your cake "PvE Focused loop" and then slap a poorly hashed together PvP loop on top of it. They clearly have no interest in developing it further if you listen to the lead dev talk about it.
@@Tacti_cat I can't argue with any of that, seems pretty level headed. I have not heard what the lead dev said on PvP though, what exactly do you mean "no interest in developing it further"? I for one would actually like a PvE focus that includes PvP as a side dish. I actually think extraction shooters work better when the PvP is a surprise instead of a main focus... because EFT and DMZ got boring after a while. It really wasn't difficult to hunt people down and ruin their day.
@@Sektoriiiii Find me out in the zone sonny, and don't come alone. We'll see what you're made of ;) Too bad I can't post pics of dogtags on here. My stash full of your name would be a deliciously ironic screenshot.
It's got a long way to go from a viewer perspective. Fights feel very shallow, hit reg is very hit and miss. Pvp feels non existence unless you camp LZs. AI feels basic. Ambient sounds are obnoxiously loud. Devs have their work cut out for them on this one. Will keep an eye on this see what they cook up.
I watched the drewski video, this thing is where ground branch was 10 years ago. I'm not spending a penny (no kickstarter, no alpha backer, no early release crap) until it is fully released and it get's tested and has great reviews, especially netcode.
It's a cool concept, and the devs need time to continue working on the game. Tarkov, Squad, Ready or Not, and any early access shooter started with bare bone gameplay and slowly grew into being good to even great games. People just expect every game to be perfect nowadays when they don't realize that the majority of good games these days are coming from small indie studios.
I was thinking this as well. Many people seem to be surprised or disappointed the game is unfinished, but that's the entire point of early access. The game is quite literally not even in its 1.0 state, and its only been released so they can get feedback. Like you said with Ready or Not, when that game released it was quite honestly pretty awful overall, and look where it is now.
Squad definitely went off route with the new weapon recoil, tarkov's devs are just money hungry retards, but, as a single spoon of honey in a tub of shit, ready or not is one of my favorite games of all time.
@@solidcoder3423people expect unfinished, but from what I’ve heard content isn’t the problem. The problem is that the game isn’t very playable with bugs and bad optimization.
That point about quest discriptions actually applies to tarkov too, it's just that tarkov has a well established wiki and no actually reads the quest blerbs because they're useless
Yes it’s overhyped because rn it’s literally unplayable for 90% of the people. Hopefully they fix their game ASAP because they charged WAAAAYYY too much money.
I love arma3 pve missions. According to steam ive logged almost 6300 hours of vanilla arma3. I wrote a set of 5 missions where the ai littlebird could be called then would take us to an lz we could place on the map. The littlebird could be called in the field but would only land on green smoke. Then it could take us to base or another place. Each mission had 2 or 3 objectives and the missions cycled by the server and playlist. Great fun was had by all.
1. I felt like I watching review of AAA fully released game, not indie game not even in public alfa test. But I'm glad that I watched this with something else then anothers gameplay video. 2. I'm glad that from the ground up devs are focusing on PVE - I'm tired of PVP with cheaters and sweaty tryhards. I love Ready or Not but it doesn’t scratch my itch.
When a game manages to put together a huge 3D detailed world with proper asset streaming and smart loading, it should be pointed out and applauded... especially when it's done in online multiplayer.
I play solo, i love it. But when none of your faction is in the area it is really hard, u need to take it quite slow and methodical, thinning out their forces until u can complete the task, u have some time before the respawns, but not too long...i like it so far, but things are getting very hard, i dont know how long i will be able to do solo, its quite expensive, and getting back to your body can be pretty hard. the lz's later in the game are a lot further, going back to base and then back to the lz can take a looooong time.
I'm Thai too, this is the first game that actually very closely depict real location in Thailand and Laos but as much as I want to get the game the game doesn't look very good in its current state, it seems to be in the place where a lot of early access game was at on launch, so I might hold out for a bit before buying.
While I agree with quests being boring/Tarkov ripoffs, the progression and quests can be rewarding. Once you get L2 traders or unlock the other traders you get a ton more attachments and other weapons, as well and being able to travel to other towns/POIs and do missions there. Fighting Crimson at the Firing Range while doing tasks or Lamang at Ban Pa was a ton of fun for me.
I think an issue is that people are viewing it as Tarkov and that other PMC factions are your enemies. The devs stated something about you having not to fight other PMCs and stuff and that they aren't to be seen really as enemies.
Probably the only honest through and through review I've seen so far. This game looks like it has potential, but the AI and the combat alone make it look unplayable. While a beautiful map and models is cool, the gameplay is what matters.. and it feels like most content creators are missing that point entirely
Having watched a lot of streamers play these days it actually worries me the devs were hoping to release the game Q1 THIS year. Few seem to be thoroughly enjoying fighting the AI. People aimlessly wander through a whole bunch of houses without finding anything interesting to loot at all. PvP seems scarce and you can easily retrive your stuff so there seems to be little tension or excitement to finding items and trying to keep them. I just don't see people playing this for many hours every day just to have one or two PvP encounters if they are lucky... or endlessly farming scavs and loot containers.
It’s not honest. He made many mistakes. You can do many of the things he said you can’t. Many of the issues he mentioned aren’t issues, he just didn’t realize how to use / do it properly
The game is sublime. Intense, fun and rewarding. It's gorgeous to look at and the devs have done a few updates already since release. I'm glad I'm not swayed by this video lol
the main issue for me is that ARMA3 exists (not the best fame rates when playing 100+ players in one town) and is still good. Also ARMA REFORGER now exists and is (very slowly) turning into a game that could be brilliant. Gray Zone needed to hit the ground running and give me popular ARAM3 mod type game play such as King of The Hill, Exiles etc. So what I am saying is make an new ARMA game and make it better than ARMA 3.
Agreed. From all the gameplay I've seen it plays like a reforger mod nothing really unique about it that arma wasteland or liberation game modes haven't done. I will say unreal 5 looks absolutely amazing and the devs use everything it offers but for the gameplay it just feels bland
@@michaelmartin2763 Still early days so I will wait and keep an eye on it. I hope the Gray Zone gets some traction, a goof fan base, some better content and then mods and becomes a contender.
@@michaelmartin2763 Yeah, I've got 2500+ hrs in Arma 3 so I have a strong familiarity bias. But b/c of that familiarity, I can acknowledge many of Arma's dated features or long-standing shortcomings. I've fallen off games in general, so I haven't played Reforger, and I may or may not play a full Arma 4. But I share your hope that competition (even if mediocre) will spur Bohemia to do more than just phone in Arma 4. Bring in FPS/milsim best practices and modern features, create a modestly more polished or well-rounded player experience without relying on a dozen or three dozen mods for game modes, campaigns, semi-open world mission settings with progression, etc. Reforger looks good so far, though the server/play jankiness looks like it still needs a few years in the oven. :D
@dakaodo I actually picked up reforger. It's in a Solid state now thanks to modders. Definitely give klean's devgru server a Try. It's packed full most of the time
I like how the ballistics (that they showed off in the showcase video) effects the bodies the same so a headshot might not actually hit the AI's brain and require a follow up shot to drop them. Also doing enough body damage and just waiting out the AI till the die is a nice touch. The lvl of detail is insane imo.
If you take a 5.56 to the jaw you're not going to stand still and accurately fire back. Yes, you might not die immediately, but it's imperfect and not fun with AI at the moment.
@@MoiDawg Oh I agree fully having not been able to complete 1 missions yet solo 😂, that said I can see myself playing this game for hundreds of hours. So long as the devs make the right changes and add more mission variety. I'm having a blast, but I do agree with you on many points trying to do solo firefights with the health system is a pain 100% especially when you have organ damage and a slight bleed you must do multiple things to heal up, and this leaves you vulnerable to being pushed and over run by the AI. Hopefully things are buffed out before EA launch, but for everything this game has going on I can see this having major potential.
@@aBlazedSnake47how did you get access and I heard when the devs give access they give multiple keys? If that's true and if you have any left could you give me one lol I'd love to play.

Why are all tubers soo focused on useless progression? Is it never enough for you people to just have a fun game where you don't need to invest 100-200h just to use stuff you want?
I personally couldn't care less about progression as well, that said it's certainly not just a youtuber thing, I see players ask for more progression all the time, some people feel they need it to motivate them to play more. And in fairness for this sort of game, it's something that would be expected as a major feature/aspect.
@@evangelosvasiliades1204”motivate them to play more” 😂 this is goofy just play a different game, read a book, exercise, anything but hamster wheel psych hacks that drain your free time.
That sprinting animation where you point weapon to the sky one handed, then bring it back down to shoulder it, looks kinda jarring. It looks weird. Don't know how to explain it. No momentum/inertia? Like it just snap back in place. Thats the first thing I noticed.
agreed. this is out of place and a CoD animation. in general, the animations need a lot of work. jumping is way off. ads doesn't really look good either. also the left arm / hand looks very off, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is.
Dam so they actually said it's a mainly PvE focused game. I hope they can pull it off, I don't remember the last time I've played a game with good Ai. You need to make something that is challenging to fight but not ridiculously OP, but also have the Ai be immersive for the player to be able to enjoy the interaction. Hopefully they focus on the Ai and combat/gunplay next, I think those are very important to establish a good foundation for early on.
@@Phoenixstorm36 FEAR 1 AI wasn't that impressive honestly. what really sold them was their voice lines. it gave the feedback of them actually doing shit. What I often times see with players and thinking that AI is bad (for games in general) is that often times it is hard to tell what the AI actually does. when you suddenly get flanked and one shot by an AI it feels cheap, because the AI basically gave no warning for it, except maybe a few footsteps or something. FEAR used voice lines and the AI "communicating" between each other to make them feel a lot more deeper and interesting than what they actually might be.
They really need to cut down on the LZs you should only be getting LZs up until near of the middle of the map on both sides of your home base. Not only this reduces people dying and running back to get their loot but also populate those two sides by adding bigger cities, airbases etc. Better loots, more locked doors etc. to incentivise people to go to those areas after going through the start area/tutorial (first town next to the homebase). Making sure people are pushed towards these big areas on both sides of your home base for different quests while fighting players from different factions who are tasked with similar challenges.
First it was ground branch, then direct contact now this, im not going to get conned out of money again. Ground branch progression is very slow, direct contact gameplay sucks and now this. Moving on to the next game!!! maybe if we put ground branch, direct contact , and gray zone warfare together and call it LZ camping ???

everyone's expecting so much when it was just released as early access yesterday. yes the fps and lag issues shouldn't exist and maybe everyone has a little too much health but other than that i haven't experienced any bugs or anything wrong with the game. it's still super fun
So what i'm hearing is "give it a year, then we'll see". Because yeah, i explicitly want this game because it's NOT Tarkov. But since PVE isn't really "there" yet and the jank is abbundant- Imma wait.
I was glad when they made the event so streamers and creators could try it out but i think the smart thing to do was to take note of all the feedback (either asking directly or watching people's videos after the event) and then work on it. A release this early can be harmful. Sure some games can have a rocky, sometimes even barebones start and then climb to the top. But that is not the norm. It's way too easy to look at the few that make it this way, without considering the pile of dead games beneath them.
Great vid moi, i like your open and brutal honesty with the game as it stands. As u said towards the end it's easy to get hung on the visuals but honest brutal accounts gd and bad are only going to help this game grow going forward. I've been holding out buying it i really want to jump in but i'm also really aware i kinda have to temper my expectations a little bit. Good job though and very thorough!
"This experience was exhausting" Dawg, you played it for ten hours. That's not a fair complaint. You put in shift work on this thing. That's just how the rest of us feel after work.
looks like a good base and gives us a good intro to an unreal engine 5 extraction shooter. Still has a long way to go and could be great as long as developers listen to players properly. Or the community makes an Arma 4 pvp extraction mod...

thank you for not caressing this game's balls just because and giving your honest opinion, ive seen many biased opinion saying OMG THIS WILL KILL TARKOV!! just because they are angry at BSG
That "C-clamp" grip looks goofy as hell. I know some oper-9ners use it but its modeled oddly. Maybe if it were flipped to the more common c-grip (knuckles up), it'd look better. Or, if the dev's wanted professional looking soldiers, maybe going with an angled or vert foregrip would have been easier for them to model. That all being said, I was standard army, not SF, so my experience in that arena is limited. Maybe that's how the kids are doing it these days.
@@2bhumanI was taught a form of the grip, only with your left elbow drawn in more, gripping the bottom of the handguard. Not such an exaggerated chicken wing.
it looks janky in most games to be fair, it feels much better to c clamp a rifle with a vert grip as well. i have my bcm grip angled forward and i can get great back pressure from that while keeping my thumb on my light pad
@@WiscoGrimReaper My civilian set up is a vertical MVG, PEQ pad on the left, four fingers hooked on the foregrip to draw the rifle in, thumb resting on the left side, just behind the pad. Not the most high speed set up but it's what I'm used to.
Not to mention when the operator aims down sight, his left arm seems to do a huge "chicken wing" motion. It looks amateuristic. The animations, poses and characters definitely need more work.
Since this close EA 'showcase' AI improvements have already been made with more on the way such as the instant kill AI, bullet sponges etc. Looking good for updates already. Just hoping for some gameplay loop improvements now before a public EA.
I don’t know if it’s possible but I’d love to see the AI have the same medical system we do. How awesome would it be if we could break their legs the same way they can us. It’s my one gripe with the game after 10+ hours.. at the airfield I died 7 times today, while I LITERALLY put over 50 rounds into a few dudes today before they died. I’m taking more than one mag all into the enemy.. I heard there is a bug where enemies pool health the longer they are alive so the ones not killed much end up being tanks but not sure how true this is.. it would make sense as the airfield enemies were not being fought on the server I was on and they were the tankiest.
some things to consider is your zero distance, ammo type and where you hit them. the only weapons that I actually have issue with killing enemies are shotguns and handguns, but the devs have recently said they are aware of the issue and try to fix shotguns and handguns. but otherwise my M4 with AP rounds can take down most armored enemies and players with a few shots. I only had a handful of "tanky" experiences.
People are compering this to Tarkov, but they forget or dont know that Tarkov released in pretty much in the same state when it finally came out of closed access. Does anyone remember the first few wipes where scavs were overtuned? like the 1st wipe of public access where scavs could see you while you were in a bush 100 meters away from them and they would just instakill you using a starting pistol with a headshot? Also problems with exfil camping, OP armor, no use for most items since there was no hideout, like 3 maps to play on, not that many weapons, being able to glitch into hard to see spots etc. Even one of the biggest problems with the game got fixed just in this last wipe, which was the armor and recoil reworks. But we still have huge problems to this day, like netcode, audio problems, janky hit reg, Unity limits, RMT, false bans, a way to steal players account because of bad code and mainly more and more cheaters which BSG basically uses as a cash flow since they dont HW ban them and just let them give them more money to cheat in the game again to supply their RMT to make profit. The cheaters not getting banned a lot of times is even thanks to BSG removing options how to report cheaters and RMT., you cant even report anyone after you click out of the death screen even when your game crashes. And if you dare to say something negative about the game or show problems with the code that can risk players accounts, you get striked on youtube by Nikita himself, just look at Eroktic and more recently Evasion. Tarkov might be better right now but that is after 7 YEARS since it came out of closed access. I trust these devs more then Nikita after all the things he did, broke his promises and now his insane greed to a point that he wants to offer insanely strong P2W stuff.
#1 issue right now is the spongey enemies. Like holy shit it's bad... these dudes are all on PCP soaking up half a mag of 5.56 to the forehead and one-tapping me with the f'in klobb from Goldeneye.
I think you simply got bogged down by the starter town slog, got into a negative mindset about it and focused on dissecting everything that bothered you. 10 hours is not enough to get to the actual fun part, when quests start take you around the map, where you start to unfold some actually interesting stories about the area, encounter different kinds of enemies, including some organic PvP, and have this freedom of approach that makes you immersed into the world of Lamang. The game is at this point definitely more than the sum of its admittedly rough around the edges parts, but it's hard to see in the initial stage of the game that you failed to get through properly. And my biggest criticism would be that this initial stage is simply either too long or too boring, but it's a different game after that.
My game just keeps shuttering. I have a 4070 and get 100-150 fps but every time I move I shutter. Idk what’s wrong and I can’t play it… I tried but after some time it just kept giving me a headache.
It's an Early Access game. People really should stop buying EA games with the idea that they will get a complete and stable-ish game. if you aren't willing to participate in the feedback process than EA isn't something for you. Most Gamers are also just so helplessly unaware of how development works. Big performance fixes don't happen as often during development compared towards the tailend of developmen, simply because months of "fixing" performance could be undone by adding new features and mechanics months later.
I love tarkov but i also enjoy grayzone. Grayzone to me seems like a casual arma mixed with ghost recon wildlands. Ill play it when i want to relax and not sweat my ass off like in tarkov.
FINALLY a actual video. so sick and tired of the vod uploads. idgaf about the 9 hours of raw gameplay lol thats alot of running. spectacular video good sir. thank you vey much for the review.
You have really good points and critica on the game. But there are few things that I have seen seems to be discrepancy to what you brought up. - performance wise: your PC build is beefy but you play on 1080p monitor. I've seen many creator forgot to mention this factor into their performance critics. Hopefully, we'll get to see more thorough performance test later in thr development phase. - animation lock and cancellation; I was watching JesseKazam's stream and one of his squad members mentioned that they can cancel the animation by click right mouse button. Maybe try thar and see if that works fore you. Overall, I like your thought on the game. It's insightful. I was excited to see a game crafted in such a beautiful setting close to home. I'm Thai and the game seems to set in either fictional Thailand or Laos. It feels good to have some representation.
Devs please for the love of god do not listen to moidawg. Make a different game than squad and tarkov. While not all of his commentary is shit, let this dude go off into his own corner. Please.
Lets be real though, its more of an issue with this "model" of game. It has such a loooooonnnggg way to go imo. Say it does get to a polished and refined state 5-8 years from now but is low on funds to keep servers running, continue development, etc. Their in the BSG/Tarkov boat. They then have to pivot and release new versions, micro transactions, paid for "dlc or features". These games, if they want to have some form of long term success. MUST start marketing them selfs as live service games with a saas payment model, or something of the likes. NOT saying oh this just the "beta" and relying on one time transactions. Idk I dont have the answers, but the problem is clear..
At the end, I do think it got a bit overhyped. But, I do see potential and I really hope after this test, devs listen to the feedback, delay the release (yes, I mean early access they have been planning to release in the summer) and work on their game without the rush, if they rush it and release it just to be released I think it will flop really hard.
That's what I thought actually. I don't know why devs in these tacticool games space have such a hard time to understand that AI is the most important thing (unless you focus on PvP). Less gunp@rn and more gameplay, guys.
I really think the general loop of this game is going to work quite well. The AI is the biggest thing for me, like please just give them tasks to do when they aren't in combat and react in the way the AI in FEAR or Halo does which isn't really that complicated. They just need to react to what is happening in their environment in a particular way. Have one be a leader and the other's scatter when he goes down, a machine gunner that lays area suppression and other guys flank. It doesn't need to be actually smart, but it needs to give the illusion that it is
I mean it's a newer engine, it's a brand new game. Let's talk about squad and dayz, or any early release game being literally unplayable for the first week of release. It's got potential as it's a new style immersive loot and shoot experience. Nothing releases polished anymore, if it felt smooth for you even with a 4080 that says a lot as people with super pcs couldn't run tarkov at more than 50 fps for multiple wipes.
So the gunplay is really fucking good. Great. I have over 1300 hours in dayz over 4000 hours in call of duty and over 60 hours in ground branch. Perfect
As far as I can see, GZW AI acts like it's Unreal Tournament while we're forced to play "Tactical Shooter" yet again..by the way, how the fuck did that guy in front of that vehicle just took like 10 bullets point blank? Been playing Single Player Tarkov for a bit, and noticed how sometimes if i hurt AI, they actually back off for a moment and either try to heal up, or if they're out of supplies, they try to hold up somewhere, either bleed out or make a last stand.
I understand this is early access 😊 now. i also get that developing these titles is no easy efforted process, but this has a team behind it . Both xbox and playstation lack these kinds of military/combat open world games 🎮, I am only one person, but in all honesty, I genuinely feel that I can speak for a majority of controller players in this genre category when I ask to please please please could the overall deciders of this development and also the development team please bring this out to consoles as well. We are in such a dire desperate need for more modern military/combatant style open world games so friggin badly I cant stress enough how much we all feel left out, Not everyone is fortunate enough to go out and purchase a gaming computer just to beable to play these titles but also not everyone can comprehend keyboard and mouse gaming (steam manager and other programs arent as reliable to setup a controller preset for these games ive been there and still struggling to get it properly workable with my controllers) all i ask is to simply please think of us console and controller players as well , at least bohemia is considerate enough to add arma reforger to console even though they have been so neglectful with fixes and such so far. Hoping at least 1 person on the DEV and/or publishing team sees this and will stand up to pass it on to the rest and strive to bring this to console sooner rather then later (once its ready for release to play more often) and maybe ones from other titles as well for their titles Hope you are all doing well thank you for reading this. 🇱🇧🇮🇪🇨🇦🦍🎮

Yeah, I don’t think there’s a downside to good criticism. And I think you’re delivering very useful and constructive crits here. I’ve been watching bits about this game for months, and the excitement/hype really led to feeling underwhelmed when I watched some other gameplay videos. In any case, always good to have more options and devs trying things, and hopefully they get good feedback (like this video) and can implement changes to really improve the experience.

definitely over hyped i took this off my wish list. this is more like deadside/arma with a sprinkle of tarkov inspiration. unfortunately its going to need a solid 6 years. gun play makes me want to rip my hair out. not being able to traverse down a hill is crazy, even for a pre alpha. the basics need to work before the public gets their hands on it, im not confident or convinced. they will have to prove it to me.
I did find a lot of the streams I tuned in to to be incredibly underwhelming. Amazing graphics, certainly looking forward to exploring the jungle area, but otherwise it looks monotonous.
I think your thumbnail + title combo might be confusing. "No." on a grey zone image, seems to me you're saying "No." to the game. and then the title "Gray Zone Warfare: Overhyped" When in reality, you want to say "Is Gray Zone Warfare Overhyped?" thumbnail "No, it isn't."
Gray Zone isn't a Tarkov killer. Tarkov is a Tarkov killer. You can look at their newest Unheard Edition and understand why. Literally EVERYBODY is mad BSG for that bullshit and the shady shit they pulled with that overpriced edition.
The curse is calling a game a (insert game)-killer.

@@poopieesq2995 you mean more then BSG have already done in the last couple days ? hahaha
@@maverick9334 fair
the problem has come from the people calling games a tarkov killer. they think it's super easy to design a game that can just make tarkov obsolete but they dont respect the depth that tarkov brings and the fact that its been in development for 8 years. you can't just surpass a game that's had 8 years of dev time behind it
One thing I noticed is that while the map looks really nice (especially inside the forested bits), when you actually get close to the mountains you realise that they are just rather simple Perlin noise with no clever manipulation.
Take at look at the UE5 asset store and type in "Jungle".
Now using store bought assets isn't a bad thing by itself, that is their intended purpose.
But it REALLY paints a picture when you also take the dev's statement of "We built this in a year"
You talking about the background drop you don't even go on?
I do remember my first thoughts when I saw the game were that it was an asset flip taking advantage of lumen, nanite, and all of the foliage mega scans that unreal offered when the game was first announced, so I do get that vibe too. Game definitely has too much bespoke art in it to be an asset flip, but I do worry about the mindset of the company due to the editions and numerous bugs and oversights on the programming side of the game.
@@Variapolis the games been out for 4 fucking days and plays and runs better than tarkov... wtf you on about
@@ItzJoeyDYT that's not exactly a feat...
Moidawg runs into a few bugs on a truly alpha game, and calls the game overhyped LOL
what you`re talking about " loading zones"; that is called level streaming, you can use this to load in chunks of the map and keep performance.
Literally how the devs said it works.
Thats how it is lol

@@nathanmitchell7961 um no...actually i am
yeah i gave up on early access releases, too many never make it to the finish.

Does MoiDawg not remember the first few years of squad ahahaha. Holly shit.
Or even the first 3-4 years of Tarkov. I played since 2017 and my god it was bad.
Obviously he doesn't.

Timmy Tactical pieced apart this video
im Thai, this game's art so hyped, it look really like a photo taked from Thailand or Laos
Exactly, some creators were even titling their video as a best tarkov style game or along those lines
@@umbrella4407 why is it that it feels like everyone thought this game was supposed to be finished?
the main issue for me is that ARMA3 exists (not the best fame rates when playing 100+ players in one town) and is still good.

Hopefully things are buffed out before EA launch, but for everything this game has going on I can see this having major potential.

when you suddenly get flanked and one shot by an AI it feels cheap, because the AI basically gave no warning for it, except maybe a few footsteps or something.

Or, if the dev's wanted professional looking soldiers, maybe going with an angled or vert foregrip would have been easier for them to model.
That all being said, I was standard army, not SF, so my experience in that arena is limited. Maybe that's how the kids are doing it these days.

Ain't no way my man literally just called it a "Bio Break" 14:11
FINALLY a actual video. so sick and tired of the vod uploads. idgaf about the 9 hours of raw gameplay lol thats alot of running. spectacular video good sir. thank you vey much for the review.
It was boring
Animation looks kinda similar to Valve's BLACK MESA game
black mesa isnt even a valve title its a fan remake of half life
I am just sad that other reputed vet TH-camrs are not reporting this game as what it is. Definitely hyped 😢
I have no hope for this game until it is proven to not be a failure.
My monitor is 1440p, 144hz. I play all games in 1440. If there's a monitor in my description that says 1080 it's incorrect and I'll update it.
@@MoiDawg ah okay, thank you for clarification. That really helps with the idea how it can run.
I got 45 minutes in and decided to return and let it cook a bit more.
Devs please for the love of god do not listen to moidawg. Make a different game than squad and tarkov. While not all of his commentary is shit, let this dude go off into his own corner. Please.
This is the same guy who promoted Payday 3 😆
This is game is way better than tarkov imo, way more fun, and I am more interested in where it will go than I am Tarkov at this point.
To praise that first time load and then just walking around? Dayz called, But they cut it after the first word due to lack of updates over the phone.
So many mid milsims
But, I do see potential and I really hope after this test, devs listen to the feedback, delay the release (yes, I mean early access they have been planning to release in the summer) and work on their game without the rush, if they rush it and release it just to be released I think it will flop really hard.
ngl thats how most the top gun slingers run idk if it dont feel right but rang wise thats ideal position
That's what I thought actually. I don't know why devs in these tacticool games space have such a hard time to understand that AI is the most important thing (unless you focus on PvP).
Less gunp@rn and more gameplay, guys.
Yeah, from what ive seen from streamers is the gameplay loop is fundamentally flawed right now which means they have their work cut out for them.
It doesn't need to be actually smart, but it needs to give the illusion that it is
looks like a game from my childhood. im over 30...
I’ll give it another year….. or two
I mean it's a newer engine, it's a brand new game.
At least in this game you can actually see shit unlike tarkov
So the gunplay is really fucking good. Great. I have over 1300 hours in dayz over 4000 hours in call of duty and over 60 hours in ground branch. Perfect
lol this is not good gunplay ...
@@alexhardy373 It's pretty good in my experience, better than tarkov pre recoil update that's for sure.
Holding the gun movement is kinda weird tho
Hoping at least 1 person on the DEV and/or publishing team sees this and will stand up to pass it on to the rest and strive to bring this to console sooner rather then later (once its ready for release to play more often) and maybe ones from other titles as well for their titles
Hope you are all doing well thank you for reading this.

What's the point of a massive map if it's completely empty other than the city
Have you literally played any military shooter including ARMA ever ?
@@nathanmitchell7961Arma has whole platoons with tanks and helicopters and even it’s smallest maps are too big most of the time. This game is working with unsupported fireteams.
@@dandre3K I dont think that answers his question. He said why would there be any point in a large map if its empty
@@nathanmitchell7961 I was saying that ARMA maps are unnecessarily big most of the time.
@@dandre3K Yes but that has nothing to do with the question which was why have a large map if its empty.
Thank you! Every single title I see for this game hype it up so much. It has look mid at best in every video.
Watched the vid for 8 minutes before seeing the Astros plushie…go stros baby!
At this point if I see a ww2, cold war, or modern setting fps it's a MAJOR uphill battle for me to care at all. Such an enormously overdone, generic, and soulless genre of shooters.
definitely over hyped i took this off my wish list. this is more like deadside/arma with a sprinkle of tarkov inspiration. unfortunately its going to need a solid 6 years. gun play makes me want to rip my hair out. not being able to traverse down a hill is crazy, even for a pre alpha. the basics need to work before the public gets their hands on it, im not confident or convinced. they will have to prove it to me.
I did find a lot of the streams I tuned in to to be incredibly underwhelming. Amazing graphics, certainly looking forward to exploring the jungle area, but otherwise it looks monotonous.
I think your thumbnail + title combo might be confusing.
"No." on a grey zone image, seems to me you're saying "No." to the game.
and then the title "Gray Zone Warfare: Overhyped"
When in reality, you want to say "Is Gray Zone Warfare Overhyped?" thumbnail "No, it isn't."
Gray Zone isn't a Tarkov killer. Tarkov is a Tarkov killer. You can look at their newest Unheard Edition and understand why. Literally EVERYBODY is mad BSG for that bullshit and the shady shit they pulled with that overpriced edition.
Hyvä video Moi!
