That was the big mistake by Slick. Not using Indiana shooters like Rick. He wanted ball-handlers, floor generals, and penetrators who can shoot. But when the merger came, he really paid the price because the money that the NBA forced them to give.
I love Mel, and his apt way of describing that play, "lets give the ball to Roger and go drink some beer" it is what made the late Roger Brown a great player, even though he didn't need any help in that regard, that's why his number is retired and he's now in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame..........
