  • How GOOD is Caitlin Clark Actually?
Clark entered the WNBA after having the greatest college basketball career ever and just arguably had the greatest first month in the WNBA ever. But you would not know that by the way the media is covering Caitlin Clark. She has been used as a political weapon more than a basketball player. And for us fans who actually enjoy basketball it has left us scratching our heads wondering… how good is Caitlin Clark actually?

I really appreciate your more in depth perspective as compared to most. In that vein, what if you interviewed a black woman fan of the WNBA (not a new fan) and get their perspective on why there seems to be such reluctance to accept and/or embrace CC as a good thing for the WNBA (see Sheryl Swoops, DT, ESPN commentary, etc)

I’m from Iowa and I have watched her since high school . When she started getting rated, she pulled up to a school game and they started chanting “overrated”. She went to the bench and said the coach “ I am not coming out of this game” . She scored 60 points . She doesn’t take negativity lightly. This girl will break every WNBA record when it is said and done . Why is she always double teamed? Because they respect her

CC is standing alone as one of the best at outset of her career despite the ineptitude surrounding her. Boston has finally picked up steam but has a ways to go. On the surface, Mitchell's play seems great, but it's hindering the flow of offensive production. The other players, well, are just along for the ride. Your assessment on the lack of strength and conditioning is spot on, but that's how it goes in their league with timing. The use of her off-hand and predictable drives/shots are correct as well. That will be corrected with adequate time and quality coaching. The one glaring stat that everyone defaults to as a negative in her game is turnovers. Realistically, it couldn't be further from the truth. I'd humbly ask if you'd do a complete breakdown on the mishandled passes that ultimately are charged to CC.

Great analysis and video accompaniment. I just subscribed. I worry that her coach doesn’t know how to coach this generational talent. But CC is very smart and determined and will figure it out. Her fans will stick with her as there is no one with the level of skill and talent Clark has. I agree she can add a mid range and add in some Jalen Brunson type moves and floaters. I’m sure during the off season she’ll work on that and her overall strength conditioning.

Most of CC’s turnovers are because the players receiving a pass from CC aren’t able to catch them.
Boston was under basket and missed easy shots multiple times.
Wheeler should have never gone into the game because she can’t play.
Smith can’t guard Reese and should have traded assignments with Boston.

That is hilarious that she has beat every single goat. This league is ever known in her first month as a rookie. While being guarded double team, triple teamed, and blitzed more than any other team in the league. They just don’t want us to believe she’s the goat. We know what’s really going on. And the Olympic team is another. She also has a better statistical output than every other guard on the Olympic team.

Kelsey Mitchell scores a lot of points in a game. Good. But that is because she takes more shots. What else she contributes to the game is questionable. She is nonexistent on defense, has few assists (because she is always shooting) and she doesn’t get rebounds. She excels at one skill, she is not contributing in the rest of the game. The Fever needs a complete player, not just a shooter.

Boss man you showing highlights of the early games. When the team did not have time to rest or practice together. Most of her turnovers at that time was not being accustomed to the physical guarding she is getting. As well as her teammates are not catching the ball. They are not accustomed to these type of passes.
Truest thing you have said is that she needed to rest.
The clown she has for a coach played her for 40 mins yesterday.
    Steph and other NBA players
    miss floaters, too.
With all that you have said, I wonder what it is that have her at the top of the pollyou usedd. May be you might say crowd attendance.
Plz. The girl is good, and unless someone deliberately hurts her. She will get great. By the way, this team needs a coach like fish need water.

I don't have a crystal ball and no one else does either about CC's future. But I do have a feel from her past record in college and current rookie record she's looking good. I think her biggest problem is also her greatest asset to the WNBA. That being her fans, which are PLENTIFUL to say the least! But they do tend to be male and males tend to be more aggressive and assertive. Some WNBA veterans don't seem to be pleased with Caitlin's extreme popularity and fan accolades. The veterans have been around for MANY years without it. I do smell some jealousy and distain. Hopefully they get over it.

She had to play a few back to back in ten game run!!! The Computer person wrote that the schedule should have been fired a long time ago!!! The Commissioner and her office should have opted out of this schedule and had more games in the late summer and early fall... But they tried to sacrifice her team and her for the Dollars that made it possible to gather in fans or for gelling the bottom line in a hurry on her back... They knew what she could and would do by solidifying the fans in coming to games by selling her down stream for the big bucks... Good thing the Gold Goose or Cow did not get hurt!!!!.... And the other teams profited from it by getting chartered flights... WooW!!! If this was a guy they would have said why buy a cow when milk is so cheap!!! BUT NO!!! They gave her 5 days off after this excursion then announced the Chartered flights!!! Ok it worked and how did the others TY her by ganging up on her and fouling her with force!!!! I just hope the league some day has other people.... But Caitlin made out like a bandit by gaining a 28 million shoe deal with Nike!!! I just wonder if they sat her down and showed her up front how they were to use her..... Now it is up to the other Teams/Sisterhoods to bring in the fans to perpetuate this drive for the "Almighty Dollar!!!!"

CC will be a legend in the WNBA, just like in NCAA. She is averaging amazing numbers, especially when compared to other guards their rookie year. She stands alone. And it says a lot that she’s achieving what she has achieved while being coached by Sides and having to work with a couple of her teammates who aren’t great. It’ll be exciting to see how she continues to develop. Won’t win ROY because the media decides it but still, I think she wins by a landslide just based on the history of who has won it and their numbers. But the majority of the athletes we know today didn’t win it. It’s an overhyped recognition.

She will break every record in WNBA history, basketball and attendence. She is playing with high school players who can't catch perfect passes and still leading in assists, coached by an unsuccessful high school basketball coach while breaking all WNBA attendence records. You sound jealous, racists and someone who knows zip about basketball or bussiness.

When CC stated, “they have woke up a monster”, it could be that she was referring to the “monster fan base” that follows her and the “media monster” that would create other narratives from that disgruntled fan base. I say this because I’ve never heard CC talk about herself in a way that lifts herself up above her teammates, which a comment like that implies if taken that way. She’s is loyal to her team and it shows in her game. It’s never about herself!! She makes that clear on the court and in her media comments!! To tell her coach that the monster in her has awakened due to a snub gives off a “I’m better than you” look. No!! CC never puts herself above anyone, except on the stat line!!

Are you serious. Reese you are only a low down player and gets away with the 3 sec rule. Your game is rebounding and scoring from the paint but if the fever had height she won't be able to do what she did in yesterday game and let check the fever coach she failed them to many time. But I'll bet you that Reese won't pass Caitlin Clark in the rookie of the year. I bet anyone. Look at Reese other games when she play against height. She becomes irrelevant. She's a bum and time will show it.

I don't give as much credence to raw numbers as I do to efficiency. She has superficially impressive numbers with so-so efficiency; not terrible, not excellent, but it teeters from game to game. There is promise there, though.

If you look a little closer at those turnover numbers you see a lot of missed passes that go on her TO numbers. Boston and Smith and others have acknowledged they are getting use to ending up with the ball when they would never get it before. You can cut those TO numbers in half. The middle game is an issue! Those weird lay-ups have been around for a long time!

  • @DaveDayCAE
    @DaveDayCAE 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

She's soon going to be the best guard in the league. She already would be if they still played the game as a non-contact sport. There was a time just a few decades ago when a player was considered to "own" the area of the court under her and within a circle that would be described by her elbows if she held the ball to her chest with her elbows extended and she rotated her body such that her elbows then drew a circle in the air, projected down to the floor. She "owned" that cylinder and opposing players could not move her without fouling her and on the other hand if she controlled the ball and happened to elbow an opposing player as she twisted her body, it was their fault for having encroached on that cylinder and the foul if any would be on them. Today, the "bigs" routinely force a smaller player to move by bodily force and a player with the ball has to take care not to elbow an opponent who has penetrated her aforementioned cylinder. This puts a normally sized player at an extreme disadvantage vs many of the monster bigs playing today.

Love it! Let's talk relevance. Just because Caitlin has some set patterns to her attack and movements while important to the defense against her, she will adjust because well she has to or die. This is not a person who has done that her entire BBall life. As to turnovers it's sad that her teammates just have hands of steel and can't handle her passes. That will change too. Give it and her sometime.

She can shoot from anywhere. She can drive to the left and I have seen her do it many times but she is right hand dominant and she knows her strengths. Almost everyone has a dominant hand or foot. Her teammates need to wake up and catch the ball too. They are too slow for CC. Her game is the best I've seen in a long time.
