I’ve been homeschooling for 26 years and not done yet. (Single mom now) This is 100% spot on. My oldest loved English but didn’t enjoy science. I knew he would never go into science. So he didn’t study science beyond biology, except for a very short book about basic chemistry as an overview. He is now getting his master’s degree in theology on a full scholarship. It would have been fruitless to make him do high school chemistry.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this talk! We all need to hear this over and over. We’ve been homeschooling for 9 years and just like you, we have tried it all and changed it up a thousand times but I am now realizing how to make this work for our family, and each child’s gifts and needs. They are born persons and we should be honoring that. This summer instead of staying up all night researching and planning, and looking here and there at everyone else’s choices… I chose to hit my knees and handed every single decision, concern, plan, ALL. OF. IT. to Him. And I have waited for Him to guide…. And I can’t tell you the last time I started a school year with so much peace. It’s an overwhelming peace, and I thank Him for ALWAYS answering my call. Our year will be full of wonder and joy and that’s what it’s truly all about ❤

Yes, 🙌 We use a lot of books in our home, but it is so much more than that! KNOWING my own kids is a big part of it. My little boy is the happiest building things, working on his bike, *spider hunting,* and singing. My older daughter is amazing at digital art, creative writing, and cooking. Why wouldn't we make time for those things? Why did it take me so long to figure that out?

Spent the entire week researching curriculum. Feeling overwhelmed. Wondering what I’m doing wrong and if I’m doing enough. Came here after your last beautiful message about Jeremiah and I am just a child…
I felt like 40 minutes of math and 40 of English has been draining my children. I’ve seen the light of excitement start dimming in each and every one of us this homeschooling year..
i would absolutely love to be more interest led with my kids!! Today and tomorrow I am giving myself a break from school work to really soak in my little ones. Thanks so much for being so encouraging and inspiring!!!! This is exactly what I’ve been praying for and I’m really looking forward to a way different approach to homeschooling life!

Girl!!! Thank you so much for this! I am homeschooling 5 kids. None of them have ever been to public school so I have done homeschooling since preschool. My twins are starting 11th and then have a 9th grader, a 5th grader, and 3rd grader. None of them want to go to college. They all want to go to trade school. I have completely hated homeschooling the last couple of years. Hate it with every fiber of my being! It has become the hardest hurdle to get over. After your last video of what you were using this year I was so encouraged that I have revamped everything for our school year. I have prayed that God just take over the whole thing. To guide me and to open the doors to find how to teach what my kids are passionate about. Oh how I wish I could just skip all the junk that is required that doesn't fit into what they want to learn but we can't so we are just making the best of it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I have lived what you are talking about. I wish every mom could watch your video!!! I am 49, homeschooled by an amazing Godly mom. She wasn't a fan of curriculum so I was "unschooled" and 100% student led. I had no issues graduating, going through college and entering into graduate school. I have 4 kids, currently homeschooling and graduated 2 so far. I myself LOVE curriculum but I know there is absolutely no need to stress! Follow God's leading and His will for your children....THAT is success! Beautiful video ❤❤❤❤ keep making these!

I have taken my son out of the Public Middle School and we are homeschooling a 8th grader this year. I needed to hear this!
Maybe reading poetry and really pushing tons of writing aren’t going to be his strengths. Rather spending time with his dad, learning how cars work. Helping me cook a meal. Learning life skills is so valuable! Appreciate your insight and wisdom!

So encouraging Jamie! Keep yelling it from the rooftops! I am a second generation homeschooler and my mom went through a very similar and eye opening awakening to homeschooling when all her peers who were homeschooling were doing Latin with their kids and trigonometry. 😂 Do you know I grew up loving homeschool so much and school in general I was fortunate enough to attend a community college at 16 and then work in higher education for 13 years before I became a homeschooler myself. God is so good and I fully believe with my whole heart that if we put Him at the center and pray about the plans He has for each child that we will educate them in the way they should go. My mom was able to do this and all of us girls are educated and contributing members of society. One a teacher, one a dental hygienist and I was pre-law and business management! It's all beautiful. My best advice to other homeschool parents is don't overcomplicate it or you will hate it and your kids will too! Find a homeschool group. Talk to other moms. You will see that we are all universally feeling the same but that we love our children and want the best. It will be okay!

You made me cry. I definitely need to listen to what God's wants from my kids. I definitely get overwhelmed by all the options. I felt God calling me to just focus on Reading, Writing and Arithmetic and we have been doing so much better. We read history, science, literature and geography with little effort of "school". Now my children are starting to show their true interests that God gave them. My oldest loves engineering and fixing electronics and I am going to help him to pursue it. Thanks for this video!

I recently read about the Thomas Jefferson education and it definitely made me think of you some. I would love more videos on how you cultivated those afternoon occupations with your boys and how they began their side jobs. My hubby works all day and sometimes I feel hindered by wanting to foster woodworking and things but don’t know how to approach it. My 11 yo is into shooting his gun, learning to tan hides (following a friend and a book) but Texas best sometimes keeps us from wanting to be outside. 😂 we do homestead so we get plenty of farm life but I guess I just feel like he could do little things to earn money and grow in other ways. Your videos have been so good and speaking to me. Thank you and keep ‘em coming!!

I love your thinking 🫶🏼. Homeschool mom of 12 yrs here, just graduating my first and starting senior yr with my second (2nd grade with my 3rd child). I wish I could get my kids to understand this, my soon to be senior saw a copy of the local high school graduation requirements and after hearing from one of their counselors that homeschoolers can’t go to college 🙄 - she is frantically comparing to that and always feeling like she’s so behind, because we’ve had a different path than that school. It’s disheartening to see her overlook the beauty and freedom in this opportunity she’s had to homeschool.

Yes❤ just graduated our last one. I worried about all the things then senior yr she decided to become a missionary…she leaned in,found the place,we took a long drive and investigated…she went overseas for the summer and is headed off to a missionary school down south soon…praise God as HE is the leader of this..HE KNOWS where he wants them..WE have to listen…it’s NOT always college to get a XYZ diploma…we need to pray and listen…SO PROUD of YOU

@@jenniferjones6228I can highly recommend teen missions international. I would advise signing up now for the big summer trip(boot camp/trip/debrief). We actually went, toured and signed up..some reviews from the past had me nervous but we learned the kiddos have to work…they have to behave..it’s life changing. I would go to the site, click 3 bars, click 2024 reports and read through and view pics. This prepares for missions work…then look at the site, you’ll see more info that you need❤

i needed to hear this. This is my second year of homeschooling . My two oldest boys are in public high school, and i homeschool my youngest. I have three boys . part of me wants to pull the other two from public school because i know they deserve more . I struggle with my oldest. I know he has so much potential but 2020 really did a number . Meaning...school went to you know what. They dont offer nearly enough and its disappointing. I wish i could find moms like you in my area. It is hard to make friends and often times the women i meet are not like me at all. My boys also, are just...boys. Not book worms, don't like classical reading....if you get where I'm going with this....they are boys who would rather do physical things or trades. They love animals and one of them like technology type stuff....i just feel lost. Im glad i came across your page. I feel less stressed. i think its more of a real approach then that overwhelming perfect homeschool mom life.
