It just occurred to me that one day your stories will be the ancient texts from the resurgent era.

I enjoy it when you pull examples and parallels from traditions outside of the Celtic. Thank you.

I really appreciate that you've addressed the complex ancestory conversation. I as an American with a long line of Irish ancestory say to people I have Irish ancestory and don't even refer to myself as Irish American. Which it is perfectly OK to say and I love the idea that a term like that honors the struggle of my Irish ancestors. I dare say my childhood has been most influenced by Irish-American culture. My grandmother, Catholic, would talk about banshee, faeries, and she exposed me to song and certain philosophy etc. Also, my Irish ancestors struggled a lot upon arrival to this land. However, I have Scottish, French, and Dutch ancestors sprinkled in there, too. So I work to honor them as they have an amazing story too, and I do that by not identifying as Irish. I clearly have a pull to the emerald island and its culture, but I am American and I have bloodline that goes back to 1600s in this country. They likely fought the English in the revolution, survived harsh conditions, assimilated to a foreign land with little guidance and was part of all good and bad decision this country has made. I appreciate your thoughts here because I've certainly had people from Europe roll their eyes when I point out I have ancestory from which ever European country and I think the point that people miss when I take the energy to point that out is, I'm honoring my ancestors that probably have crossed your ancestors path and yes the Irish American story is worthy of recognition. The grandchildren of these brave, desperate people don't want their story to be forgotten
***sorry for being so long winded*** that's a long way to say I appreciate your mindful approach on all the subjects.

John and IPS, the new YT algorithm is not showing these on my main page. I found you in the notifications bell which I will admit I have not paid attention to since they stopped sending them to email. I have been subscribed to IPS for years, and thought it odd getting emails from you and no YT offer. Now I know, look in the bell upper right, scroll down there you are. I will do this from how on.

I’ve had a question about immortality. Apparently 3 years in the otherworld is 300 years in our world.
So how can we be sure the beings of the otherworld are immortal or time just operates differently for us? To onlookers from this world looking through a portal or something they would see the summer there never ends but maybe its just very slow from this perspective?
I can’t remember where I’ve read about this but I did some research a few years back. With how search engines are these days finding information has become extremely difficult.

Heather M. Southern American woman (she her) spirituality heavily HEAVILY influenced by Irish Paganism. Y'all are wonderful. It's ok to be American and embrace Ireland and Her mythology. Just so long as we realize, we're still American.
Jon, I think you'd be ok. Oppressed by the English but is still Catholic... Massachusetts. Make some Irish friends, go to a Boston library, bam The Dagda jumps out at you from an encyclopedia.
I think that religion changes as it mixes with other cultures. For instance the Greek religions were co-opted by the Romans and, for example, Aphrodite became Venus. There are differences though, you know. So do y'all see that in terms of Irish Paganism traveling to America? You might tell us to travel to a battleground (I had one right across the street in college). So, I go to Gettysburg PA. I would find The Morrigan, Herself, there because the Civil War was a war to end the appalling practice of human slavery, and to unite a nation that was supposed to believe in freedom. However, if I get to go to Ireland again (crosses fingers) I could maybe trek to Emain Macha, and oh my goodness. It's not the same.
My point is that I'm with my country-folk. We have to make do here in the States, and now, we have to wade through a substantial amount of bullshit to do it. That's why we love y'all for bringing Irish Paganism to the masses. It puts a whole big sense of clarity to it all.

You know Jon, our grandparents and great grand parents didn't come to the US by choice. And they insisted we were Irish, and gave us the mythology, and the stories, and even the house cleaning ways. After all those people who were immigrants, first or second gen, and desperately trying to keep the ways taught us, and told us we were Irish. It does tick me off to be told I'm not. To be told I don't have the right to call myself Irish. Do not even get me started on corned beef, I have the origin story I've never found a currently alive Irish person willing to listen to and accept the story. America is not a melting pot, we are a country of refugees. And to be told I'm appropriating? It's feckin insulting. So be lucky to have been born and raised there, and be sure to respect my ancestors in the process. With all due respect for your knowledge and relationships.

I mean if I'm Macha cool, if not great. I honestly could not care but it bugs me that when I do my meditation, or divination it comes back to me denying it and her getting furious. I don't know what to do other than just ignore it. I feel like I'm being messed with but I have friends who tell me nothing bad is following me other than Her so idk. I do so love all the upg crap I'm dealing with.

One thing I don't like about Ireland is that if you are from a poor or violent country you can move to Ireland permanently as a refuge, but if you come from a non-violent or wealthy country you have to be worth half a million US dollars to stay. Honestly who has that kind of money. I know the world is not fair and this is proof.

I'll pick my words carefully, as this is a public forum... There's a lot of American politics wrapped up in American identity. Sometimes it's easier (or more desirable) to identify with non-American ancestry. And I find there's a strong current of guilt from my fellow American pagans of white European ancestry. We're told we shouldn't connect to this land if we're not indigenous. I find that very problematic. We can acknowledge history, we can acknowledge who stood in this place before us, and still connect with and honor the land and its spirits in our own ways.
