If you are a health-conscious person, then soba noodle is the way to go. Udon noodles are elastic and tasty, but they are made from wheat flour and contain gluten. Soba noodle contains rutin, which promotes blood circulation and reduces high blood pressure. But soba noodles made from 100% buckwheat flour are expensive. So most soba noodles available in the city contain wheat flour.
Wow, what an amazing comment this clarified so much for us! Luckily for our viewers, we are not very health-conscious people😂. At least on filming days. It makes so much sense that we had soba noodles that were so varying and quality. This must be the reason thank you so much for letting us know this cool fact hopefully we can let people know in future.

I am glad to see the two of you enjoying . In Japan, it is considered fine to hold any vessel in your hand except for flat vessels that are larger than your palm. And Bowls containing rice and soup are fine to eat in your hands, even if they are large. Personally, I don't think you need to worry about it too much. Have a nice time!!
Thank you so much! We just try to go unnoticed by being as respectful as we can when visiting other countries. Thanks for the help, watching and commenting!
It was honestly one of our favorite things we ate the entire time! This was the only opportunity that we had to have it tempura battered, and boy was it delicious. We will seek it out in our future travels. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. we’ll see you next week with more delicious Japan food
I'm Japanese, but it was very interesting to see restaurants that I've never been to before. The food was photographed so well that it really whetted my appetite. I look forward to your upcoming videos.
This is one of the best episodes to me! My husband and I loveeee noodles. The mystery tempura plant that you ate at Tsurukosi Udon restaurant was 'Shungiku', Crown Daisy in English, but I have never seen it here in the US. You guys went to Tsuru-ton-tan!!! That is very famous udon restaurant in Japan, and I always wanted to try but the line to get in there was incredibly LONG!!! That view from the window seating though... you were so lucky! Next time I go home in Japan, I would like to try these noodle restaurants and get my blood sugar ski high :D That would worth it!
Hahahaha what an awesome comment! Thank you so much for it! That place was honestly worth the hype and the wait. We hardly wait for anything so we almost left the line twice😂. Thanks for letting us know what the leaf was! We never saw it again which makes sense that it was seasonal. The crazy thing is that when we talk about or favorite foods from that trio that thing always comes up! Thanks a million for watching and for the support! Cheers
I was amazed at how many noodle stores you two hit! You have an iron stomach, don't you? The mystery tempura is garland chrysanthemum(crown daisy). The soup stock for cold soba is made from dried bonito flakes, kelp, mirin, sugar, soy sauce, etc.

If you go in the cold months and happen to eat at a soba place, ask them after your meal for 'sobayu' (soba water) to thin the dipping broth with. It will make the concentrated tsuyu (dipping broth) more like a savory tea. It warms your insides nicely before heading back out.

Great video! Could the "peanuts" in the vegan tantanmen at Mencho be sesame? I've used seame paste in my homemade tantanmen and the taste is not very very far off the taste of peanut butter.
Thank you so much we pay the price and during the summer we like to stay in shape and eat really well so that we can pick out on our trips during the winter time!
The green leafy tempura that you guys had with your soba noodles was probably garland chrysanthemum tempura. Slightly peculiar, it is a familiar ingredient in Japan. And let me give you one piece of advice, don't throw your hand towel into your bowl when you're done eating, because it's bad manners. Anyway, I love your inquisitiveness about noodle.
Thanks! We had no idea how regional ramen was in Japan. We loved it all but Hakata seemed to be our favorite style. Although, we haven’t met a bowl of noodles we wouldn’t eat😂
It is considered rude to roughly mix the noodles and toppings. It is common to pick up a small amount of noodles with chopsticks and bring it to your mouth (if you are of the upper class).🤤😅😄
Standing soba in front of the station is good (although of course it is delicious), but if you really enjoy soba, you should definitely try soba from a soba restaurant. A lot of times we just search a specific type of food in Google maps and then look at the pictures to see if we want to go somewhere. We spend most of our days just walking as far as we can and we will walk past some cool places and then save them for later. We will read articles on what food countries are known for and if there is something we haven’t tried we will seek it out. Honestly just luck😂
I heard that Americans eat cereal, bread, milk, coffee, juice for breakfast, hamburgers, fries, fried chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, apples, bananas, and Coke for lunch, and pizza, pasta, corn soup, black tea pudding, and cake for dinner. Is this true?
😂 we do eat all of these foods just not necessarily at the same time. When Alyssa and I are at home, we will typically have avocado toast with an egg for breakfast. A sandwich, salad, burrito or rice bowl for lunch and at dinner we will eat just about anything. We live close to Mexico so we eat a ton of Mexican food. We also have a huge Asian population so we eat a lot of Vietnamese Thai Japanese Chinese food as well. One of the perks of living in the United States as it is a very diverse place so we have an opportunity to try foods from all over the world, made by people who have immigrated here. If you watch a lot of videos, you’ll notice that we eat a ton of everything.😂
😂Sorry we are back in San Diego and have been working a ton to save up for our next trip! We are hoping to go back to weekly videos this week though with a trip to the cup noodle factory in Yokohama!
You are the best food traveler ever on TH-cam but let me give you a little advice…. When you eat noodles, you take too much portion at a time. Try take less😉

Great video!
Could the "peanuts" in the vegan tantanmen at Mencho be sesame? I've used seame paste in my homemade tantanmen and the taste is not very very far off the taste of peanut butter.
That’s exactly what it was! Sorry we don’t use sesame paste as much back home so we just assumed it was peanut butter. Thanks for clarifying!
You guys eat it all 😅
Thank you so much we pay the price and during the summer we like to stay in shape and eat really well so that we can pick out on our trips during the winter time!
Thank you so much! We had this another time when we were at a hot pot restaurant. What a great accompaniment! FHA is for watching and commenting.
Great choice of restaurant and menu as usual! that crown daisy (chrysanthemum) tempura is seasonal vegetable (winter ~spring)
Yessss! We don’t have anything like it! It was such a humble food that left an incredible imprint in our minds. Thanks for the help!
Bro I went to RakiRaki for lunch today, and this just put them to shame. I want to try every flavor you guys featured.
😂 That place is solid. Would’ve finished dead last on this list
Hakata Ramen is awesome. Very very delicious!
Thanks! We had no idea how regional ramen was in Japan. We loved it all but Hakata seemed to be our favorite style. Although, we haven’t met a bowl of noodles we wouldn’t eat😂
Hey! Tokyo huh? Try Enter the void. 2009. Directed by Gaspar Noe. Spanish director.
Thanks for the recommendation. We just looked it up on Google. It looks pretty freaking awesome.
It is considered rude to roughly mix the noodles and toppings. It is common to pick up a small amount of noodles with chopsticks and bring it to your mouth (if you are of the upper class).🤤😅😄
Thank you so much for the tip! We had no idea, we will keep this in mind for the future, thank you
nice 👍
Thanks so much! We love your photo btw! We have a Tokyo Disney food tour coming soon and we ate the little green mochi guys!
Standing soba in front of the station is good (although of course it is delicious), but if you really enjoy soba, you should definitely try soba from a soba restaurant.
Although the price is higher, the aroma and texture of soba noodles carefully made from buckwheat flour are completely different.
th-cam.com/video/UB5Rh8Ti2i0/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the tip! We will be sure to find a nicer soba shop to enjoy!
How do you guys do the research on these restaurants?
A lot of times we just search a specific type of food in Google maps and then look at the pictures to see if we want to go somewhere. We spend most of our days just walking as far as we can and we will walk past some cool places and then save them for later. We will read articles on what food countries are known for and if there is something we haven’t tried we will seek it out. Honestly just luck😂
Send more noods! 😋🤤
Plenty of noods to come😂
I heard that Americans eat cereal, bread, milk, coffee, juice for breakfast, hamburgers, fries, fried chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, apples, bananas, and Coke for lunch, and pizza, pasta, corn soup, black tea pudding, and cake for dinner.
Where the heck have tou guys been????LOL
😂Sorry we are back in San Diego and have been working a ton to save up for our next trip! We are hoping to go back to weekly videos this week though with a trip to the cup noodle factory in Yokohama!
You are the best food traveler ever on TH-cam but let me give you a little advice…. When you eat noodles, you take too much portion at a time. Try take less😉
Thank you so much! We are still trying to master the art of noodle slurping and totally failing at it😂. We will take your advice moving forward. Thanks💯
Have you try a ramen 🍜 place that has a "Devil 👿 Level"? Because, Mike Weins try to challenge the "Devil 👿 Level Ramen 🍜"and successful taste but killer spice!
Noo not yet! We remember that video! It was a bit ago, we will go back and watch it and see if we can handle the Mark Weins spice level!
@@HeresGoodTravel The location of "Devil 👿 Level Ramen 🍜 shop" is next beside APA Hotel Kanda in Kanda, Tokyo, Japan.
🍜👍✨✨✨
Thank you so much Japan is one of our favorite places we’ve ever visited based on food alone, but with the culture and nature historical sites it truly is a site to behold
slurrrpppp
lol #commentoftheday!
OLIVE GARDEN 😂
Only the number one restaurant in the face of the earth! #datenight
15:42 It's very rude to throw garbage into the dishes! It's uncomfortable!
Thank you for letting us know, we will try not to do this in the futre
Tsurutontan is overrated
Can you recommend a shop for us to try?
What are you in such a hurry to talk about? Why don't you explain it slowly? You're restless and bad-mannered
Sorry, sometimes we get embarrassed filming ourselves in public. So we try to finish quickly so we don’t disturb others.
@@HeresGoodTravelI don’t think you are bad mannered AT ALL.
Don’t even care to reply to such comments. I am Japanese btw.
