I mean, it inherently can't be a total scam. It's a card game, and the cards have been dished out, you can now play your game and be happy forever theoretically. the only way it fails if it public interest fades or the creators walk away from their potentially bottomless pit of money it's slightly concerning that seemingly everyone who is buying the cards are doing so as an investment rather than from a place of passion or care for the game as a concept. I'd argue it's likely to fail. but that's not a scam, that's just a bunch of dorks overhyping themselves about something and making poor financial decisions.
@@aaashmoreee hard agree. It's not a scam as a game, but if you're only buying these with the idea of hodling until they're worth 1st Gen shadowless pokemon money you're a fool. I mean shit Neopets was massive when I was a kid and even that's faded to obscurity. Don't FOMO stuff kids.
I've never heard of this game until right now. It's absolutely bonkers how much value these already hold. What is going on with the TCG market? Much like the housing market.
Not really that insane when you see people spending a million dollars on used fruit or dropping stacks on an animated pixel on their screen. It's just a different world we live in where information travels fast and the internet speeds up the process that once took a decade to grow.
I've seen a lot of people promoting these cards and I've almost never seen anyone actually talk about playing the game. In the extremely rare cases where someone is backed into a corner to explain why the game is good they just say vague things like "it's all the good parts of Magic, Pokemon, and Yugioh." I'm pretty convinced this game is just another speculative market scam where the cards supposedly have value because people say they have value, compared to Magic where people value them because they like the game or because the franchise has cultural significance. Using cryptids is actually kind of clever because it lets them lean on a bunch of public domain characters for instant nostalgia appeal without having to actually create original designs and build a franchise from the ground up.
@@cowgba I think a lot of it is from people just wanting to collect as well. I haven't played an actual game of Pokemon TCG since the early 2000s and I couldn't tell you what the meta or OP cards are, but I can tell you what cards and sets are worth money to collectors. I do agree that the Cryptid idea is kinda cheap and a well that will run dry eventually, but how many other Pokemon style games or TCG have come and gone in the years? Remember when Temtem was popular for like 2 weeks? It's so hard to get people to care about investing time and energy into yet another new "hundreds of characters to collect, trade, and battle with" universe.

MetaZoo feels like cryptocurrency...everyone keeps saying that it's amazing and that you'd be dumb not to invest in it but it feels like the hype is what's driving it rather than an actual game.
These look like the cards from HunterxHunter.
Omggg Halloween town 2 Marney was my first ever crush lmao
Cant wait for 6 years down the road when that $5k turns to $15k
It never will. Wubby is scamming.
This is fake hype
Or when it turns into 2 cents
Or 5k turned into 10 dollars
14:42 if u dont want to rip them then dont lmao
so nice to see a dude start up a card game nd get some fans thru wubby
as the hulk says "hey i see this as a win , win" even if he ripped a 5k card haha
Wubby heard youtubers were pumping and dumping cryptocoins but he heard "cryptid cards" instead....
10:09 he was for sure about to say the quran XD
Dead ass when he did the Morpheus joke I got an ad for the unreal five engine matrix game
I sure miss some straight up commentary videos like Wubby used to make that aren't a part of the stream. It makes me sad that now he's just so money focused. Nothing on the stream beats the videos he used to make. IT'S TRUUUUUEEEE
Allaaaah.fr tho that hello fresh shit was cringe.and this is greasy and boring.
There's a PSA 10 Tripodero on Ebay right now for $1000. Lets calm down folks
link to the full unboxing vid?
When it said "another 100 subs " for the third time i knew mike was just playing games with wubby because he likes seeing wubbys pain lmaoooo
Because if he donated too much the more Wubby is implicated in the scam.
Wubby needs to auction that card now
This is peak degenerate consumerism
Half the video I thought you were talking about tierzoo
Did Wubby really make a halloweentown reference!????
I know nothing of metazoo but I'm an MTG player. Watching him rip unknown cards was so fucking painful
My favorite TH-camr
Obligatory "Helping the algorithm" comment...
Wubby lookin slim thicc
BING CHILLIN
Wubby is looking slim!! keep up the hard work man!
I swear to God that if this turns out to be a scam later on I'm gonna be so pissed.
I mean, it inherently can't be a total scam. It's a card game, and the cards have been dished out, you can now play your game and be happy forever theoretically.
the only way it fails if it public interest fades or the creators walk away from their potentially bottomless pit of money
it's slightly concerning that seemingly everyone who is buying the cards are doing so as an investment rather than from a place of passion or care for the game as a concept. I'd argue it's likely to fail. but that's not a scam, that's just a bunch of dorks overhyping themselves about something and making poor financial decisions.

@Ty Cooper thank you for that lol, have a great day man :)
@@aaashmoreee hard agree. It's not a scam as a game, but if you're only buying these with the idea of hodling until they're worth 1st Gen shadowless pokemon money you're a fool. The reason pokemon, magic, yugioh, and even sports cards are worth so much is because they're a popular origional IP that stood the test of time and people both collect AND play the game. I mean shit Neopets was massive when I was a kid and even that's faded to obscurity. Don't FOMO stuff kids.
I've never heard of this game until right now. It's absolutely bonkers how much value these already hold. What is going on with the TCG market? Much like the housing market.
Its a scam, thats why
@@theremix54 elaborate?
Not really that insane when you see people spending a million dollars on used fruit or dropping stacks on an animated pixel on their screen. It's just a different world we live in where information travels fast and the internet speeds up the process that once took a decade to grow.
@@TriWaZe wtf is ‘used fruit’
@@Reblwitoutacause People sellin banana peels and crap as art.
So why should we get into this Wubby? Is the game actually good?
You didn't mention anything about that, so I'm gonna guess no.
Bubby should open flesh and blood packs. It's a reasonable new tcg and it has allot of amazing cards in it
Wouldnt ripping a super rare card make the other ones more valuable ?
High key addicted to it after this vid. I love the artwork
Lol. Ripbozo ripmetazoo
Metazoo is such an unfortunate name. Every time I hear it I instantly think it's some NFT nonsense, like that shitty one where they poorly photoshopped stock photos of zoo animals together.
I love Wubby, but this definitely feels as sketchy as NFTs
@@polyesterdreamboat Not sure if I'd put it on the level of NFTs but I definitely feel the recent interest in TCG stuff is 99% an 'investment' thing rather than legitimate interest in the game, art, etc behind it all. Wubby isn't even hiding the fact that he had/has no interest in this as a game, but was simply convinced it would pop off.
They literally do NFTs, you can look it up lol
@@MaskedMammal the price started to drop and Alpha investments made another video that couldn't drum up enough interest because his viewer base is so burned out on the MetaZoo speculative garbage. MetaZoo needed to tap a new market, so they hired Wubby. This was basically a giant commercial.
I thought it was some kind of merch thing from TierZoo, like cute animal cards with facts and "stats" like he does
TGCs are like NFTs but actually valuable and cool
Not really? You can play with cards and go to tournaments, wtf do NFTs do?
well I call Cash Grab but I also dont really care about it
Kalimdor is wow my dude
Nothing says quality card like a sticker on top of cardboard
Never really been into cards but I like the idea of cryptids
didn't like it until he was paid to, my streamer for sure oi vey
Tbh some those cards look like Neopet cards. Taking me waaaaaay back.
please don't tell me metazoo is a fucking nft related thing, cos I've never heard of it before
